cps, and she called my job saying  she was a1 towing and leaving this # , I am  2 weeks behind feb 8th payment

I received a call from 800-817-0263 ext 36393.  Said they were looking for someone I did not know.  "Blah blah blah..call us so very important".  Thanks to this site I will not call them back.  And if I do happen to get on the phone with them I will let them, I know where THEY work and will begin to hassle them.   Check out Google Map street view 19500 Jamboree Road, Irvine, CA 92612-2401 (949) 753-6800

Got a call--the persons said my neighbor gave me as a reference.  This was totally strange.  I had to ask where he was calling from.  He was a fast talker and put answers in my mouth. His name was Louis Gonzales ext 6615.  He asked me to deliver a message to my neighbor of which I have no intention of doing out of respect for my neighbor.

Someone named Shannon Hallmark left personal info with a neighbor (3 different times), who I don't even know, about my personal business.  I am filing a complaint with the FCC regarding this practice.  

In today's world of ID theft, this is unacceptable.

The company is called Consumer Portfolio Services....They are a second chance loan company. They are out of florida and they are very rude and disrespectful.  When speaking to my case manager one time i asked her to please connect me to her manager. and she told me no........that she was not going to let me go over her head.  I told her that i hope this call is being recorded and she continued to talk nasty to me and threaten to push the button on my  car being repossessed.  I am no fool but when i ask to speak to a Supervisor, that is my right as a consumer.  This company is the worst and i need to know what to do about them.....They constantly call me 20 times a day no matter if its 6am or 9pm..this is ridiculous.  Then they called my husband harassing him...about an incident that happened 3 months ago.  They need to be stopped, please help!!!!!

Beware of these people - It is for a car loan company and they stoop to horrible ways of tracking people down.  CPS - Consumer Porfolio Services out of Maitland Florida

Their tactics are in CLEAR violation of the Fair Debt Collections Act.  Collectors are NOT allowed to call neighbors, relatives etc. Nor are they allowed to call every single day.  Tell them that the next time they break the rules.

How can you get them to stop calling you at your work? My car is paid off!

Oh and don't forget 866-325-4568 - yes, CPS called me about a friend of mine that has apparently earned herself a skip trace for not paying a bill.  You won't believe what I went through - plus when I refused to take a number and have this friend call CPA, they got rude and I had to hang up, which was quickly followed by 3 harrassing phone calls telling me it  was my problem because this friend put me down as a personal reference and that if I didn't take care of it they would continue to call me because it WAS my problem.  I said "no, it's not....and the state attorney general will tell you that too."  I was called back again and then I found this web site.  Had to go thru 40 hoops just to get my name removed from the friend's account plus answer a million questions on if I  have her email, her phone, blah blah blah.  Needless to say, this friend has been axed from my list of friends - the nerve to put me as a personal reference without asking.

I have received several calls similar to your encounter from a woman by the name of Shalita in search of one of our employees.  They have been asked NUMEROUS times to cease calling his place of employment and try to reach him at an alternate number as our lines are for business use only.  This particular woman ( far from a lady), was so extremely rude that I had no choice but to disconnect the call after asking her not to call his place of employment.  She in turn called back, again I disconnected the call, and again she called back asking repeatedly if I had a pen.  As if I were HER MESSENGER!  How rude!  I informed her several times that she had no reason to be so rude with me.  Some people have no sense of how to handle situations like this.  Don't they know you catch more flies with sugar and not a vinegar?

Someone from CPS (Minnesota Div) called and asked to speak to one of my employee.  I asked where she is calling from and said CPS.  I told her "I'm sorry she is not here right now." Oh my gosh! I have never encounter any collector like that ever.  She went off the roof and screaming without taking a breath and using all racial slurs, vugal languages, and "you are so noisy you are not suppose to do that etc....".  Of course I got the kick out of it so I did it back to her.  She sounded like a black  person so I used all racial slurs like she did oh gosh she got so mad.  She was so arrogant and such a dumb bit**.  I'm a sucessful woman own my business with 10Mil rev. who is she to judge me.  No wonder arrogant people like her wouldn't be successful and have to work for an agency.

Can a Debt Collector Call Your Neighbors?

Debt collectors like to put pressure on consumers to pay, and they can do so by embarassing or harassing consumers to the point that consumers pay just to stop the calls.  A favorite tactic of many debt collectors is to call consumers? neighbors.

A debt collector is generally permitted by law to contact people other than those who own a debt in order to locate the person who owes the debt.  There are limitations on this right which are not addressed in this post.  However, a debt collector collecting a consumer debt cannot generally contact a neighbor in order to have the neighbor deliver a message to a consumer, or to provide information about the debt to the neighbor.  Even so, it is a common tactic used by many collection agencies.  If a debt collector knows your home and work addresses and phone numbers and yet still calls your neighbors in connection with attempts to collect a debt from you, it is likely that the debt collector is violating federal law.

Received call twice about another person's account that doesn't concern me.  Told one to stop calling.  Three weeks later got another call about the same person and wanting me to relay the message.  They are violating FTC rules concerning such practices.  I have filed with the FTC, BBB and the FCC (on do not call list).  Here are some names on who is in charge:

Also, if there is a class action lawsuit against them, put me in.  Save your recordings and keep a journal of when and who they are contacting.  

Again, I don't owe them anything.  Don't know why the bother to call me about someone that I could care less about.  Found out they are calling other neighbors as well and relatives.

Doesn't matter if you paid your bill or not.  What about those who have nothing to do with the matter (e.g. neighbor or distant relative)?  Think before you start passing judgement, but then again, perhaps you are a rep from the company.

Honest people get scammed by companies like this everyday.  It's not a matter of someone paying bills or not paying bills.  It is about ethics and you obviously are unethical and out to screw people yourself given your statement

Someone from CPS has contacted me from multiple numbers alleging I owed money for an account thatI have NEVER had,  they alledge I opened an account with the company 10 years ago and were collecting on it.  Ya Right!!!   I never did business with the company they are talking about and if it were 10 yrs ago why are they calling me now... obviously not legal

I GOT A CALL FROM THESE PEOPLE AND I DO NOT EVEN HAVE A CAR THRU THEM...MY CO-WORKER GOT SCARED BECAUSE THE MAN SAID CPS AND I HAVE A DAUGHTER AND SHE THOUGHT THEY WERE CONCERNING MY CHILD...LONG STORY SHORT THRY ARE SCAMS AND THE GUY ABOVE ME IS PROLLY WORKING FOR THEM. Got a call from this company, apparently looking for the son of one of my employees.  I won't be calling them back, thanks to this site.

CPS is a BANK.... not child protective services, D.A.  Do your research first before you comment

This people call me all the time , and yes they let whoever answers the phone think the are the real CPS and i have told them over and over again that i am not the person they are looking for but it is like talking to a brick wall.

A man called and spoke to an employee of mine and asked for another employee who had already left for the day.  He was extremely rude and gave way too much information on why he was calling.  I would assume a person in that position couldn't legally pass that kind of personal info to someone not related to the situation in any way, but he did.  I called the number back myself and told them that if they ever called my business line again, I would report them immediately...they hung up on me.  I wanted to jump through the phone and punch him in the face.  I appears my expereince with this CPS has been shared by many others...how can this company still be in business?????

revd several calls from CPS regarding car payment. they called about 20 times within an hour time. i will run the next time someone try to get me a loan though these people.

Got a voice message on my cell phone stating that I needed to call in reference to a Tony Jones, it was a very important legal matter. They called from 1-800-979-0847 and answered the phone as CPS. The person on the other end would not tell me who or where they were and wanted to know my address and what kind of car I drove. I told them it was none of their business and that I did not know a Tony Jones. They called me a liar and told me to tell my wife that was talking in the background to shut her trap. I called back and got a supervisor that said she would take care of this person and would remove my number from their database. Who do these people think they are !!!
I am filing a complaint with my states Attorney Generals office.

These people keep calling for my co-worker at least once a day, every day. The number they are calling is our business number.  They really should contact person via home or personal cell phones, not business phones.  I sure don'w want to know my co-workers business!!

MY HUSBAND RECEVIED A CALL FROM THESE FOLKS ABOUT SOME ONE HES NOT EVEN RELATED TO OR KNOWS WHEN I CALLED TO TELL THEM TO TAKE OUR NUMBER OFF THEIR CALLING LIST BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW THE FOLKS THEY ARE CALLING ABOUT THEY HUNG UP ON ME THREE TIMES WHEN I ASK FOR THEIR ADDRESS SO I COULD SEND THEM A LETTER TELLING THEM WE ARE NOT RELATIVES OF THESE PEOPLE AND TO TAKE US OFF THEIR CALLING LIST. ON THE FOURTH AND FINAL CALL I TOLD THE PERSON TO TAKE US OFF THE CALLING LIST AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME WHEN I TRIED TO GET HER MAILING ADDRESS

I recieved a call from CPS today, from a woman named Diana asking if I have seen a certain car driving by or around my street. She then asked me if I had any knowledge of that car to be parked at an address near my house and asked if I could go outside and look over to the house that she was asking about to see what cars where outside in the drive way. She then asked if I could take a message and leave the message taped to their door to contact them back. This is crazy to know that this company had my address and phone number and name......that was given to them by the police dept. ( so said the woman I spoke with form CPS) so that CSP can contact me to get info on these people and vehical and then dare ask me to me a message middle man. They said cops are going to that house but why ask me to deliver a message if the cops are going to that house in question? I dont even know  the people in that house or about a car that they are looking for. This is not my problem, so for the cops to give my info out to these cps people so that the they can bother me about somebody bill issues is way beyond me.
