When checking my boss's voicemail for him, there was a voicemail from this number, stating that if you're not *name*, please disconnect the call, and you're listening to this message, you acknowledge that you are the person, blah blah blah.  Really?  What kind of shady business practice is this?  

And by having the name "Bureau" in the business name seems even more suspicious, as if pretending to be a government office of some sort.  Some people may hear that name and get nervous, which just may be their tactics.  SHADY BUSINESS!

Please disconnect this no. They are calling me for no reasons - multiple times, there is nobody at the other end - some computer calls.

It's very true, MAB sucks a**.  However, I'm reading these notes about getting wrong number calls and have a question.  If you don't inform them its a wrong number, then how will they know it's a wrong number, to then stop the calls?

I know what the Mini Miranda says, but as for any collector, calling a wrong number never pays.  They don't get their rocks off by calling the person that's not going to pay a debt.  So, just tell them it's a wrong number, even if it IS your number and you just don't want to pay.

Case in point - I got a call from them today.  I missed it.  I checked here.  Saw it was MAB.  Called.  Wrong number.  Calls stopped.

As the person they asked for has been repeatedly targeted by junk debt collectors and known payday loan collection scams, I doubt the legitimacy of this collection "agency".

Hi! We started getting these calls after changing phone numbers about a year ago. A female voice sounding British or Aussie possibly. The recording says her name is " Jennifer Lopez". They give the name of the dude they're after for an outstanding debt. Don't you just love the part of the recording that says if you don't hang up you acknowledge that you are the person they are after?!! I will try calling the number given in a prior post above and see if I can get these pinheads off of my answering machine. Thanks!!

I've repeatedly received calls from this number. Each time, it's an automated message in a female Australian accent. They ask for various first names, all of them male (for example: Marvin, Martin, Mark, Marcus, Morris, etc.), all with the same last name. I have called them back several times and explained to them that there is NOBODY by any of the names they ask for living at this residence or connected to this phone number. They keep saying they will remove my number from their records, but they continue to call. I told them today that if they call again, I would be contacting them and would speak to a supervisor, and would also contact my attorney to file telephone harassment charges.

Robocall recording: A lady with an English accent says: "This is ...Todd Snyder...blah blah blah...please call 1-800-834-7516 to discuss this issue...Mercantile something...this is an attempt to collect a debt..."

Of course it was already running when it got to me. No idea who it's for. So many of these calls are for employees of another company that closed 6 years ago.

Caller refused to identify himself and was flippant.

They asked for my company, but they do not know anything about this, when I asked questions then their just hang up.Not answer and report to others like this. Thank you everybody else. for your reports I did not answer them.

Recorded message left on answering machine saying by listening to call I was acknowledging I was the correct recipient - From Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, Margaret Montelano(?) about a debt I owe.  They state they are a collection agency.  I have no past due bills anywhere.

They keep calling my house wanting to speak to someone else who I have never heard of.  They have the wrong number but won't stop calling

Sooooo anoying - spoke to them tonite and told them I would report them if they didnt stop calling and harrassing me.  They are calling for a person who I dont know, doesnt live with me or know anything about.....I think its a big scam.  We dont have debts and have credit scores above 800....

I get three to four calls per day.  It is extremely annoying and whoever is making the call should be seeked out and reported to the authorites

they have called my house late at night and sometimes 3 to 4 times a day they are starting to harras me

This number keeps calling, says they are Mercantile Adjustment and they are trying to collect a debt.  We have no outstanding depts and our credit scores are above 800.  They want date of birth info which we will not give.  They are a real pain.

Calls from this phone number 2-3 times per day.  Getting very annoyed!

When I called backshe asked if I knew Scott Xxxxxx. I said no. She said "okay I'll keep you on the list."
I said no I don't want to be on your list ...for what. She said "No I said I will take you off the list." So I don't know if it really was a miscommunication of what. I hope I am not on her list.

I answer the phone when this number calls my burner prepay cell phone.  What is odd is that there is no one on the other end and the call is dropped almost immediately.  So what is the point?!

According to cindy they r a 3rd party collection agency. That means the bought ur OLD debt for little to nothing and r now trying to collect even more than u owed

Yes, this 800-834-7516 called several times and said he is Lee Kent - and was
asking for Scott (something).  I told the caller the telephone number belongs to my son and not Scott Whatever his last name is.  Lee Kent said that Scott gave him our telephone number.

I called and pretended I was a FCC Federal Agent by the Agent number 6157-438-008 which is their phone number written backwards. I was transfered to Lee Kent, who is a collections agent for Merchantile Bank. Apparently my phone number was owned by someone else about 4 years ago. This person's accounts have fallen into collection with Merchantile. I use to receive phone calls from about 3 years ago for this same person. It seems he is now in collections. I called and gave my number, but not my name, but the name of the person they were lokking for has my same last name. The agent told me that they would remove my number. I hope that it works!

I live with my parents -- and this number has been calling FOREVER!! They just called again and the lady just says they need us to return the call and she is from the offices of Lee Kent.
