***Easy Fix for collection calls!****
Send a Cease and Desist Letter to creditors and they can only contact you by mail. You can google "Cease and Desist" or use the one below. Make you mail it to them registered/certified. You can also tell them that you are sending one if they call, and the calls should stop calling for a month. Here is the template I use.

CEASE AND DESIST NOTICE

(Date)
(Your name, address and account or reference number)

(Collection Agency name, address, phone, original creditor)

Dear (collection agency name)

Pursuant to my rights under federal collection laws, I am requesting that you cease and desist communication with me, as well as my family and friends, in relation to this and all other debts you claim I owe.

You are hereby notified that if you do not comply with this request, I will immediately file a complaint with the Fair Trade Commission and the (your State) Attorney General's Office, Civil and Criminal claims will be Pursued.
Sincerely Yours, (your  signature)

You can use this template for other debtors. Have used it many times when I had become disabled and could no longer work. They should all know by now that harassment and rude behavior is not an effective way to collect a debt, actually the opposite! But one must pity those poor b*****ds, because they aren't intelligent enough for other occupations!

I have been getting calls from a Troy Matthews who actually told my co worker he was on his way out to my job to serve me court papers. I called him back and said I need for them to produce documents to which they say I owe money to, he then said we have your bank info (old account) and he only gave me the last 4 digits along with your home address, if you don't take care of this now over the phone you will be served and have to pay hundreds of dollars towards lawyer and court fees. I once again explained that I would be happy to pay but am not paying for something they say I owe without them producing proof of my signature or agreement from a loan back in 2010. He has been calling being very rude even saying he is going to my home. What can I do. I can't give someone my information over the phone that is not willing to produce proof of a debt I supposedly owe???

Received my first phone call from this person aslo named Adam Blaha who left me a voicemail to call
them back with a reference number. I don't know what this is concerning? I certianly do not live in
Boston, Chicago or Cincinatti.

Not sure what this call was about BUT with all the scams going on and all those companies out there scamming people out of their money, I most certainly will not give this company the time of day.

I have a phone app that blocks private and unknown calls, so as soon as they come in, my phone
instantly sends them to my VM. Unless they do not leave a VM, I will never know they called.

JUST GOT A CALL FROM BEIHL AND BEIHL.  MY BILL HAS BEEN PAID AND THEY KEEP CALLING.  I CALLED THE PERSON WHOM SENT THE BILL TO THEM.  AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY KEEP CALLING.  PUT THEM IN WITH A SPECIALIST.  NEXT TIME I WAS TOLD TO RECORD THE CONVERSATION AND CALL THEM BACK AND THEY WOULD HANDLE THEM WITH LEAGAL MATTERS.

kind of pious of you - maybe they are calling the wrong person (phone numbers change) and then they call you a liar and continue to call because "they know this is the correct phone number".  Well guess what, I don't know a Janie Alexander and I don't know her phone number - so maybe they need to live by the FDCPA - just a thought!

Got a call from a lady at this number asking for my wife . I told her my wife was not home { and she wasn't } but then the woman begins with leaving this number along with an extension number and a reference number . I asked her what this was and she said a personal matter so I told her that I needed an snail mail address to bill them for my secretarial duties to give my wife all the numbers she had told me and then the moron hung up on me . I have no idea what this B/S was about but I am sick and tired of Vulture Collection Agencies calling me when I have nothing that I owe the numbnuts !

I just lodged this complaint on the BBB website:
A gentleman from this organization called me from an unknown/unavailable phone number on my caller ID. When I answered, he stated he was with this company and his name, and asked if I wanted to resolve this issue. I told him I don't have any money right now, but I would be able to pay in a couple of weeks, then said October 1. He asked if I could pay now with a credit card, to which I replied no, but I can pay October 1. He then asked if I worked, to which I replied no. He then asked how I would have money October 1, to which I replied that I just would. Then he said "Didn't you just get paid September 1?". I said no, as I told you, I do not currently have a job. He said this matter has been out here since March, why haven't you paid it. I said I can pay October 1. He said why did you subscribe to the Star Tribune if you caouldn't pay for it. I said that is actually on them, because they keep the subscription going a full cycle past the previous payment. I AGAIN stated I could and would pay October 1. He was so rude I swore at him, and I rarely swear. I don't know what more he needed than a promise to pay in a few weeks. It is such a piddly amount to be treated so poorly. I didn't even realize this issue was out there.

I've been receiving calls for a $29 bill for the Baltimore Sun.   Like other commenters, I've also tried to return calls to them but only  reach a voicemailbox.

Do they keep calling people until we end up paying just to get rid of them, or what???   I didn't receive the newspaper!

I live in Indiana. There have been several of these scams out there. They get bank information and it seems that they work a whole bank at a time. Common sense tells you that if there is a problem with your account, the people that notify you would already know the complete number without your input.

These clowns probably found what information they have from a company where you used your card.

A final post on my dealings with Biehl & Biehl/ (B&B) collection practices.

I registered a complaint with the Chicago Illinois Better Business Bureau/ (BBB) regarding B&B's abusive collection practices, AND B&B's refusal to VALIDATE their payment demands.

The BBB sent B&B two letters asking for information, and offering to mediate my dispute. Biehl & Biehl NEVER responded to the Better Business Bureau.

So although I don't actually have official closure of Newsday & Biehl & Biehl defective claim, nevertheless I do have a letter from the Better Business Bureau that both independently documents my dispute, AND records that Biehl & Biehl never responded to the Better Business Bureau offer to mediate. So if I ever get harassed on this ever again, I can use the BBB letter to back up that the debt claim is defective.

Do not call lists are fo sales calls not bills. They can and will
Continue to call you unless you put your dispute in writing. A voicemail sayin call back, even if in a "threatening tone" is not harassment. Harassment is very vaguely defined by the ftcpa thus harassment cases are rarely won. Just pay the bill.

Actually I can tell u first hand it is not a fake company. They are hired on by companies such as the Chicago tribune or other newspaper companies to collect. They can't call you twice in a day even becuase they work off an autodialer system that is scheduled for a maximum of once every three days. The account number is so that when you call back they can actually pull up your info. It's pointless to leave a message without it because they can't tell you why there calling without it when you call back. Stop screening your calls and just pay your bills. I was a collector and I can tell you that the second your rude, your going to get the same attitude in return.

Biehl and biehl is a 3rd party collection agency. If you do not identify yourself, they cannot speak to you by law.

Diane< a suggestion.  while I dont advocate paying blackmail, be aware in a situation like this, (if youve paid earlier bills using your credit card), you can call your credit card and they will 1) probably initiate a 3 way call and mediate a disputed bill, and 2) you might decide to pay one last time, and your credit card coampany will listen, and be a witness, AND most importantly, issue a cancelation index number that you can use in a court of law if necessary to prove you canceled the paper subscription.

PS: I forgot to mention that Biehl & Biehl, (just like their client, Newsday), refuses my request that they provide documentation of their claim for $45, (they just call me up and demand money).  But Biehl & Biehl agent, (he refused to give me his name),said is essentially he would blackmail me, ie, if I refuse to pay the $45 without documentation, he would report it to the credit reporting agencies.

I've over simplified my particular issue, but suffice it to say that like most people here, I too have had trouble with a Newspaper demanding paymet on a defective claim. I too tried to deal directly with the newspaper, (Newsday in NY). But Newsday turned it over to Biehl & Biehl.

Although Biehl & Biehl, (B&B), are NOT a member of the Better Buisness Bureau (BBB), people with problems dealing with B&B could try a asking the BBB for help.

Oh Yes, although B&B are NOT members of the BBB, neverthless, the BBB has had dealings with B&B, and they have given B&B an "F".

I tried to cancel my subscription to the Chicago Tribune for months via phone.  Every time I called to cancel, paid my bill, they would keep sending me the paper again and then I'd receive another bill.  This went on for months.  The last time I called I made it super super clear I no longer wanted to receive the paper delivered to my house.  The newspaper stopped coming and I never got another bill-this was back in January.  In May,2010, I started receiving numerous phone calls from Biehl and Biehl left on my home phone while I was at work never identifying what the alleged debt was for or with whom.  Today, I finally had the time to call Biehl and BIehl and found out it was for $22.50 from the Chicago Tribune for newspaper service from Feb-March which I never received a bill for.  Apparently, this is what the Trib does-you cancel, they keep sending you the newspaper anyway and instead of sending a bill, they turn it over to a debt collector. I sent the $22.50 to the Tribune and reported the abuse, but I'm sure nothing will change.  Be careful when you subscribe to the Tribune-it's like fatal attraction-once they get their hooks into you, they'll never let go.
