the person had a very very strong accent - possibly Indian - and when I asked his name he said VINCE FRANKLIN which I am sure is NOT his name.

I keep getting calls from this number. I have repeatedly told these jackwagons my phone is a cell phone and I am charging their number $99.99 for the first three minutes if they continue to call. I found a billing service that does just that and they ended up paying a larger paycheck to me than I could ever imagine. I can't wait to see their accountants' expressions on this one. LOL

All operators sound indian so I guess they are satellite connected. english is rough and understanding soso. every answer starts with this is a collection agency and all information will be used to collect debt. kind of funny and you have to go though five people to get anything done, funny now, annoying then.

This company keeps calling my number asking for someone with the same last name, (but not first name) trying to collect a debt. I have no information to give them about that person, but they don't stop calling, day after day, leaving messages on my answering machine. My number is on the Federal Do-Not-Call list; does this not apply??

They continue to call opr corp office leaving partial messages on general voicemail system. when contacted, they started giving me names of people that supposidly works at our office. when told that none of them are employed with us, they seemed stunned and stumbled and didn't know what to say. finally the man with the accent said he apologized for calling and would remove our company number. we will see because i get 3 to 5 calls a days on the switchboard from this number.

SOME TIPS WHICH WOULD HELP TO TACKEL COLLECTION CALLS
-----------------------------------------------------
Requesting everybody getting messages to call them in order they get rid of this call for ever.
Help your self by helping them to rectify their record if they are wrong, because there are many people out there close to you not paying their bill eventuall come to haunt you only becaus e some or the other way thay are related to you.
Make their job easier corperate and you would benifit from it, you may never know.
If its not you why worry just call them and ask to take your number off and call would stop, confirm what ever he ask you to do so but never give your socials out but answer all his question in YES/NO only*
If it may turns out to be your debt, find a way to resolve it, its in your half to figure what you can actually pay and what you cant, pay only if you are capable to doso , else they can't do anything(REMEMBER this wont help you not your credit scores).
Else an other option is ask them what they can close the bill for(ask for a discount) and if that is in the collectors or his supervisor capability he will offer you the best deal to get rid of the account (this will help to clear your account faster and will result in necessary changes on you credit report faster insted of geting into payment plan decade basis).
The other thing could happen is, it could be someone else(family/friend in most cases)who has commited a fraud against you & you suffer because of it, then this people can help to resolve it again, so coperate with them, undersant thay are trying their best to do what is good for you.
Remember that they are human as you are what they are not from the same country thay are more helpful and soft spoken then your own country men.
Using profanity wont help you, doesnot affect them at all, so although you are fustrated try atlest not to be unprofessional, cause using profanity to run-away from a debt states person being irrresponsible,(REM: they cant reply you back because they are not allowed to, and they dnt want too, else they would, they are been more sensible then what you think you are)
** whatever information you give to them is safe and withheld to the person you disclose to and is immediatly destroyed when the purpose of it is over normally it should and if you find out any misuse of you bank account/card information you are open to do what you think is best for you.
any grevience regarding the tips please help to bring it to notice by bloging and help would be provided.

These guys call me all the time looking for a guy named Chad. The message tells you to disconnect if you are not Chad. Of course, this does not stop them from calling again and again. The only way to talk to someone is to press "1" to say that you are Chad. From this point, you hear a message stating that this is an attempt to collect a debt. 99% of the time I get disconnected after pressing "1." The ONE time I actually got a foreigner on the phone, I was able to get out that they are calling the wrong person... and wouldn't you know it... they hung up. I hate these people and hope they rot. This is borderline harrassment. They wake me up on my days off nice and early.

Yes, I too receive calls (3-4)X day from this 800 # & I don't owe any debt. I bet it is from one of those overseas drug outfits. Last time I answered the call when it came in, I told them I was unemployed and to send me whatever they want,,,,but I have ZERO $ to pay. Hopefully that will stop the calls. :)

I've been getting calls from this number for ages. I finally called back, gave them the number, told them I wasn't the "Terri" they were looking for, and the guy told me that they would take my number out of the system. We'll see if it really happens.

People!! The DNC registry does NOT apply to collection agencies! So whether or not you actually owe the debt is the issue. If it's past the SOL just block the calls or send a C&D letter. If it's not you, don't worry about it. They've been calling me over a $195 medical bill from 9 years ago. I didn't pay it (couldn't at the time) and have no intention of doing a darn thing about it now. It's not even on my credit report anymore. This company simply bought the debt for a few dollars (if that) and are phishing.
The first time they called I answered because I had no idea who/what it was regarding. As soon as I heard the clipped Indian accent I knew it was a junk debt buyer. I asked to speak with someone who spoke English. She told me (in perfectly understandable English) that she DID speak English, and was I so-and-so? I said (a little louder this time), "I'm sorry! I don't understand a word you're saying! Can I speak to someone who speaks ENGLISH??" Extremely rude and out of character for me, but these people are bottom-feeders. Screw 'em.

I got a call and the number was "No Name" - the automated thing said it was trying to collect a debt for "Roseanne" somebody. I spoke to an Indian-accented representative who identified himself as "Raoul". He wanted to know my phone number, so I asked him his and he gave me this one. He wanted my name so I asked his. He responded "Paul Turner". I told him he didn't sound like a "Paul Turner". He got pretty offended, so I told him it was a boring conversation and hung up. The phone rang seconds later from the 800 number there.
| No one by that name 2009-04-09 23:09:02 Unknown |
Automated person is asking for someone who doesn't even live in this household! I can't even tell them that they have the wrong number!

If this is a collection agency then it is one of a long line of agencies that have called us over the last seven years. Seven years ago we were given a phone number, by Verizon, that was previously used by a person who, I gather, had some debt issues. Our phone number seems to be passed from one collection agency to another. There seems to be no way to reconcile this problem. I only know that this is a collection agency because of this site. When I answered the phone, the caller hung up. I got their number from *69. I'm on the "Do Not Call" list also.
