Some time,an inmate might let your friend,etc.,use his account to call someone.If the other inmate's name is John Doe,then that is the name that the operator will use.Naturally,it is confusing to us because we don't know a John Doe.I,too.was tortured by an unknown caller.I do hope that this helps.After all,it may be a loved one in serious trouble.You may want to accept the call if they persist.

I have received 6 of these calls today in the last 2 and a half hours. I am freaking sick of this. Don't know anyone in jail and frankly if I did I would not want them calling me. Not like I am going to put money or anything on some jailbirds account. How do I know this, because I keep receiving calls from this number and wanted to see who the heck it was. Looked the number up online and it says 'securus' so I looked them up and that is what they do.

Yeah----  Got a call @ 8:45 P.M. (2045 hrs. Military time) from this number.  No sound or speech from the other sending end of the call so I terminated it about one-half minute after answering it.

My best guess is this was a harrassment call stemming from an individual connected to law enforcement groups/individuals in the state of Wisconsin who have been harrassing me personally for about 4 years or so after I had reported some of their felonies and crimes to the state of Wisconsin D.O.J., and later this year to the U.S. Attorney/F.B.I.  The State of Wisconsin D.O.J. did absolutely NOTHING to investigate these crimes and now the feds appear to be on the same track, but it is premature yet at this point to conclude that, but the early indications of them not contacting or interviewing me seem ominus, disturbing and dissapointing (just as an understatement), and indicate an abdication of proper, balanced justice in absentia.  In other words, the FEDS also appear not to be doing JACK about the crimes I reported involving Marshfield WI and LaCrosse WI police officers and with others they were and still are linked by the hip.

I'll have more to say on this----please respond in this forum if you have WHISTLEBLOWN against any state or national law enforcement/ agency, bureaucracy or legal group(s) to see if there is a pattern of abuse, retaliation, retribution surveillance and harrassment going on here, or if I'm just nuts and off my rocker as a fair number of folks truly suspect!!                     R.B.

Please remove or block my telephone # from your system. It's very frustrating to received 5-6 calls a day when I do not know anyone in a correctional facility. I am beginning to think this is a SCAM or the company Securitastech.com would make it easier to block unnecessary calls. I'm being baggered by this company at this point and they have a responsibility not to bother the public.  They need to do a better job monitoring the calls.

This company will NOT close or cancel your account without a written notarized form showing that a new person owns the number...

It is a corrections phone company that gives families of incarcerated individuals contact with loved ones behind bars. As for inmates that continue to call and you do not know them, they do allow you the option when they call to block it and is the best way to handle that. We who have loved ones who are incarcerated and mind you (not all of them are murderers and molesters) a way to communicate other then the mail. Hi - this is actually a company called Securustech.  It is a 3rd party vendor phone company used by most correctional facilities in the country.  If you have a loved one or know someone who is in a correctional facility, the only way they can make outgoing phone calls to a phone number is if the person receiving the call sets up an "account" with Securustech, adds money to that account and sets up a 4 digit PIN to access that account.  It's not a rip off or anything illegal and any monies you don't use get refunded to you. Then whoever is trying to reach you can get through to you.  This might be their lifeline.  The rates are very reasonable and this is the only way the person can call you - there are no outgoing calls allowed any other way and obviously there are no cell phones allowed or monies provided.    I onlky wish to God I didn't know anything about this service.  Hope this helps.

This is definitely a SCAM.

This number is from an inmate via securus technologies and is the only service offered through jails and prisons. If you do not wish to accept then it is safe to reject calls and they will stop. Otherwise you will continue to get calls and have to either ignore it or sit through the message every time. At one time someone with your number had an account or they wouldn't be able to call it. The account probably still has money on it. You can also call securus and have it removed/restricted. So if you don't know someone in jail (even for the weekend) then restrict it.

I also have been using this service for several years an have never had a problem.  correctional billing is a good company an provides a way to talk to  a loved one at a reasonable cost. Cost vary from county to prisions. I have always been able to get information when i have called.

I wish these people would stop calling me. I recently got my new number. I have called them and I have sent an email to have my number removed.They have refused to do so. I am on a do not call list and my state will go after them for $1000 fine per call. At this rate, they are already in for more than $15,000  in fines from just calling me. I have just sent all information to my state attorney general. Maybe these people will learn to remove a number when asked. And my local law enforcement will go after them for harassment. I have documented all calls dates and times. They will also be barred from doing any kind of business in my state..
I finally got someone who seemed upset that I would take it to the state level. But said that my number will be removed immediately. Oh, well, tough cause all documentation has been sent state attorney general and local law.

I have received two calls from this number. No one says anything. Do not have family or friends in jail. And I just got this number about 2 weeks ago. Have not given it to anyone other than my daughters. Don't know how they got this number but I want nothing to do with them. There is no name just toll free showing on my caller ID. Does anyone know how to stop the calls? Thanks.

I came to work today and had five calls from this number.  The first one started at 7:45 pm on Saturday, September 9th, 2012.  I know of no one from ANY correctional facility much less someone that I would have given my work number to.  I tried calling a number to have my number blocked but it transferred me to a hold queue and kept repeating "we're experiencing higher than normal call volume....".  I had to hang up because I don't have time to deal with this at work as I'm on a Service Desk.  I have already deleted the messages and I don't want to call the number back for fear that my place of business will be charged.  I guess I'll try to find a way online.

They want you to fax your current phone bill to them so that they can block the calls. This is absurd. I am not giving them any personal information because I have not requested this service. They call every morning at 10:01 a.m. I do not use this service nor have any use for it. I have no idea how they got my phone number in the first place. I will figure out a way to have them blocked on my own.

Phone ringing every 35 minutes with unsolicited calls from the spammers at Securus Technologies. If anyone can find the people hiding behind P.O. Box 650757, Dallas, TX 75265-0757, I'd LOVE TO KNOW their personal details and pay them a visit.

It said it was from George Roy on the caller ID with the #314-535-4757.  But it said to call back at the 1-800 -844-6591. I could barely understand the message, and a woman in the background was saying tell the number again.

Just called them back and replenished our account. It works very well. I think it would be OK to return the call if you do not give out information. If they don't give you information I assume it is a case of someone hacking and you should just hang up.
If you know someone who might be in Miami, FL area, known as "Lock 'Em Up Justus" home, they could have been arrested.
Event was our account became low on cash.
