I received a call from this number today.  Caller was allegedly Ira Johnson, claiming to be from, as near as I could understand, Sherr McClure law offices, wanting to speak with my son, who doesn't live here.  I got the definite impression that American English wasn't the caller's first language.  I "took a message."

Got another call from 1-800-858-8736 Extension 255. The guy's name was Derrick. Told them they were not to call me for my mothers supposed debt and that they are in violation of the FDCPA for doing so. He claimed he looked my mother up on 411 and this number came up. They obviously know what they are doing because they don't log contacts. I even told him I filed constant complaints with the BBB. I pleaded with him to please take us to court. He said he would get an attorney on the line to inform my mother. I put it on speaker and the guy starts of with saying he is a legal aide and asked if my mother would take responsibility for the debt. She said flat out no and to take her to court. I cant understand these people. They tell me im banned from having contact with me and that they are taking my number off and will no longer contact me. In a few weeks ill have another post on here because of them.

Had a similar voice mail message on our home phone, asking for someone we don't know.  The message said not to listen if I was not that person, and if I did listen I was admitting that I was that person.  How stupid is that?  I called back today and told them I would take legal action if they called again.

1-407-995-3000 Called with Scherr Law under the caller id but was originally called from a local 832-706-4663. I confronted them with the fact that according to Equifax and the other 2 credit agencies show that my mother has no debt in that amount or anything of that nature. I told them they were in violation of the FDCPA and they started stuttering and not knowing what to do. They said they would stop calling my home because I not my mother own the phone number. They were using the information they socially engineered from me against me and I told them that if Equifax says i dont owe then they are in violation with $1,000 per call. The one guy was named Peter extension 261 and Ira Johnson is extension 129. Complaint filed with the BBB and I emailed the Florida state Bar.

Your AG may tell you pretty much the same as I would. Put the collection agency on notice with a ''cease-communication'' letter sent via USPS Certified with return card. The same letter may also briefly review the conduct you are protesting. No need to reveal your plans, but this pours the foundation of a lawsuit if the collector ignores your order. You may have good evidence of federal or state law violations already, but if not wait for the green card before filing suit.

Note that your Mom is the primary target of this bullying, which limits your participation in a civil action, but any illegal hassle you personally took can make you a co-plaintiff. Texas consumer law is also unusually protective of alleged debtors.

Stop them cold with a debt validation letter. By law they cannot legally collect on a debt if they can't (or won't) prove it belongs to your Mom. The internet has plenty of good examples of DV letters. My personal favorite is:

} He said the burden of proof was mine and began to threaten to call my employer

A scofflaw debt collector would like you to believe this fiction, but said scofflaw actually holds the burden of proof.

} have never dealt with a debt collector before

... and sadly missed the big pile of FDCPA violations in that story. Fred could have sued for relief before Feb 2010. I hope he did, but somehow I doubt he knew what was illegal for the collectors and possible for him. History doesn't have to repeat for you.

Got a call New Years Eve with a threatening call to my mother via my owned phone line. They sent multiple pieces of mail and harrasing phone calls stating that she owed money for furniture that she signed for credit wise. She never signed for any furniture, she has no furniture and I did our free report from the big three credit companies and its not listed anywhere even in the outstanding debt section. They have no information. The guy Iroh said my mother owed $2,937.85 and he would settle out for $881.35 Im about to call him back stating that since he has been contacting my phone and since my mother doesnt own one this is considered harrasment and i will be going to the attorney general of Texas about this matter.

This company keeps calling me during nap time for my children. They are calling for my sister in law, and won't stop calling at all. I have explained that even my sister in law doesn't have my new home phone number but they are calling anyways. The seem very slimy and rude. My sister in law has said when I have called her about it, that they won't give her any proof of debt, they just keep telling her that she has to pay them immediately or else.

I've been receiving calls for an individual who owes money to a bank (credit card debt).  The individual they are looking for doesn't live at my address nor do I know them.  the collection agency is Andreu, Palmer, Andreu "Law Firm," 701 SW 27th Ave, Miami Fl 33135, 305-537-0114.  These bozo's are not listed in the Miami Bar Associations, or the yellow/white pages under Attorneys, lawyers or collection agencies.  Google map street view of the address doesn't have their business sign either.  After I told them they had the wrong number, I got the 800-858-8736 call.  I filed a police complaint against them, but it is on-going as of Mar 13, 2009.

These idiot,scumg-bags have been calling me for months about a person called Tedenny(?) Williams. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PERSON AND I WANT TO KNOW HOW THEY GOT MY NUMBER. IF THEY HAVE STOLEN MY IDENTITY OR INVADED MY PRIVACY IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER,I WILL SUE THEM. I called them back and told them I was contacting the Texas Attorney General's Office about them. How incompetent to  be harassing someone who doesn't even know the person. If they call me again, I am contacting my attorney, my local police department, the Texas Attorney General's Office, and the Federal District Judge for my area. After reading these posts, I am turning them in to as many agencies as possible.

I too have just been contacted by a family member that this low life firm has been calling them trying to obtain my number. I have no interest in speaking with these cretins as they are just a bunch of buffons and will get not a dime from me. Thanks to the current economic condition of this country I no longer have a job so get in line and wait your turn.

Just for good measure I am going to report this matter to the Flordia Attorney General.

I have had some credit card debts totally to around $37,000 on 3 cards.  They happened mainly due to some medical issues in my family.  They occured due to multiple surgeries every year for a 10 year period.  Even with insurance they kept coming and overwhelmed my ability to pay.  In the end, I myself came down with the flu back on February of '08 and got behind on a bill by a week.  As a result, all 3 cards raised their interest rates from 10%-12% to 28% to 32%.  They would not work with me no matter how high I climbed on the food chain so I just defaulted.  I did not have the ability to pay those high payments they wanted.

This gets me to the last few months.  I received a call from these idiots.  What they did not bargain for is that I have had some legal training.  I live in Florida and I know what they can and cannot do as far as my situation.  Please don't ask me as far as your specific situation as that can get complicated.  I asked the guy if he had proof that I owed the alleged debt, and he said we do and we will sue you if you do not pay.  I told him, go ahead, I am judgement proof.  He tried to tell me I am not.  I simply told him that under the 1974 Fair Debt and Collections Act that he was not to contact me other than by written letter or I would not only sue his employer but would go after him personally, and I would find out who he was when I filed a motion for discovery.  He had a funny change of demeanor.  I asked to talk to his supervisor, he refused.  I said I do have the right to know who accuses me and I will turn around and sue and force that issue.  He asked if I was a lawyer, I said..."I am not a 'Practicing Attorney' in the state of Florida...but I have had some legal traning."  They are trying to sue me now and they will get NOTHING.  Even if they get a judgement against me, I am jugement proof.

They tried to call a few days later.  I turned the tables on them.  I told them I would only talk if we could record the conversation, I said..."no record no talk!".  They refused so I just stone walled them. I tried playing that game a few times finally they relented but they were very polite after that. There is more than one way to deal with these idiots and have fun with them.

My father-in-law received a call from this law firm asking him for my phone number.  That was at 7:54 pm.  I immediately called this number and of course they were not there, so I left them a message and told them that I would need specific information and paperwork, their fax number and the full name of the person calling.  At 6:25AM the next morning, I received a call from these people.  I said to them, "Do you realize what time it is"?  Their response, "No, I am sorry, I just listened to your message and was returning your call."  Then they asked me for my address and phone number.  I said they could call back in the afternoon and I would obtain information from them, and then send them a letter.  But, before we hung up she asked for my phone number, and I responded, "you just called me, you have my number". Her response was, our phones just automatically call the number.  Oh, and when I started asking her for information, she said she couldn't find anything.  I told her she shouldn't be calling people unless she knew what she was calling about.
