Its a collection agency and telemarketer that represents many different companies.

These people out of the New York area have a "nack" for this type of thing. They "buy" lists of names from anyone that will sell, make up some story about a debt, and try to scare you into paying them money. They claim that "they" and only they can offer a one time payoff to rid you of your debt. They have NO legal authority to do such; NONE, NADA.....I "burned" another company from that area this past spring for calling MY home concerning a family member.....Looks like another will feel the rath....PAY THEM NOTHING !

This caller leaves a message with their 800 number , at 8 am ! Caller ID shows number unavailable. They don't say who they are or who they are calling for. I don't owe anyone anything so they are wasting their time calling me.I let my answering machine take care of these fools .

We have not received any calls yet but my elderly, recently widowed mother in law got a "failed to comply" notice for an unfulfilled obligation with Rhapsody.  When I looked up Rhapsody online it is a music club. You needed an e-mail address and password to access your account. My in-laws have never owned a computer and my dear mother in law wouldn't even know how to turn one on.  Up until 6 months ago the only system that they had to play music on was a radio and record player!  Would she have joined this club???? I think not. Thanks to all of you who posted here because It confirms our suspicions that his is a scam. How horrible it is that someone would take advantage of our Senior citizens, I will be contacting the attorney generals office.

I received a couple of calls from these folks from Eastern Collection Corporation 1626-1a Locust Avenue,  Bohemia, NY 11716.  They sent me correspondence concerning the call.  This was a legitimate collection call for an order placed with Infinitive Mind.  Apparently my C.C. was declined before two of the installments were paid off.  So,  I just pay and go on.  No big deal. My mistake.

this is definately a hoax *** do like i did :

call them , making them think you know how to get to them personally, and
threaten to inflict bodily harm if they continue with their little scheme.

GUESS WHAT, THEY STOPPED CALLING.  trust me it worked.

I have been getting calls from this 800 number as well.  When I called them back they told me that they were trying to collect a debt for Double Day Book Club....I had purchased some books there and then they decided to send me their monthly books...which I told them not to and I sent them back.  Double Day Book Club is saying I still owe them money and that is how it got turned over to this collection agency.  I told her my attorney would be contacting her as my husband and I are in a middle of a bankruptcy.
I found it pretty odd that if they are trying to collect money they have a answering machine person call you and tell you to call back.

I pay all my bills on time and have never been past due on anything yet these people are calling me. I suspect it's a scam.

I keep getting hangups from this number.. id says
"800 service" with this number.
Hard to collect money if you don't speak to the call recipient.

I was surprised too, it turns out it is AeroGrow Company inquiry for credit card information I placed order online.

I've been getting multiple calls from this number randomly for the past 2 months. I'm a minor and have no history of credit-ever. I've never owned a credit card. And, the person they ask for is definately not me;it's some random name I can't pronounce. I'm not calling them back.

Cant recall but do believe this same number 800-864-5999, that just appeared on my caller id, was also pestering me last year, I called it back and my name is common, told them that they had the wrong person. They got nasty and slammed the phone down. I called them back to talk to supervisor and told him that I was not telling him even my dogs name. Told him to tell me the middle inital and last 4 of ssn, he did, naturally it was not me and I told him that I was reporting him for Phishing and/or trying to get me to pay anothers debt. Then I called credit reporting, checked credit. All good, called him back and told him where he can shove it and he was welcome to call me everyday for the rest of his life if that were possible, because he is not going to get sh*& from me. Never heard from them again...until this evening. It starts again. Never, Never, Never give any information no matter how small. There is not too much to worry about when your credit is fine, except the idiots calling. But last year I was so aggrevated that I cannot see why we cannot get a class action lawsuit, when you tell them they are barking up the wrong tree, that all calls after should be harrassement of some sort. Even stalking???

I have been receiving this call practically everynight after 7 PM. When I answer there is nothing. No response, no recorded message and no human on the other end. It does no good to list this number on Do Not Call, because they don't keep them from calling. I don't owe for any kind of book since my husband has a libary in our home, we don't need to buy books from people who are so ashamed of themselves that they can't even leave a name. It is always listed as unknown. Maybe someone should tell them who they are since they are so ignorant they don't know.

I've blocked this number with my call screening.  Unless they send me a bill that clearly states WHAT and WHO I owe, they get no response.

OMG! This company is horrible! They call me 4 or 5 times a day and Im at work so dont answer their calls. I finally was able to call them back today and they are trying to collect a debt for Schoolastic Book Clubs which has already been paid and was cancelled over a year ago! The person wanted all of my information over the phone and refused to send me a bill stating who they were and what I owed, so needless to say there is something just not right about them.

I received a letter today January 4 2008, stating that they were collecting for a book that I ordered , I sent payment out on Dec 3 2007, so I called and told the women that I sent out the payment and have the check stub , I gave her the check number and the date it was sent out,  but that's about it, she said that I would have to fax over to her my bank statement , she said to fax it to me personally my name is Miss Diamond. I said to myself , self this doesn't seem right. so she gave me the fax number which is 631-563-2471. But the company that I bought the book from never sent me any notices. These people out there in the world want to ripoff other people for money , instead of going to work on there own. I guess this is easier. :(

Calling me for 2 books that Time Life Co. supposedly sent out in 2004 & 2005. The only problem is that I have not subscribed to Time since 2003 and have not received books. The woman said that the bill of $68 will go on my credit report by Friday 11-30, if I don't pay over the phone. I felt she was trying to get credit card info over the phone to scam me and I wonder if the place is even legit. All kinds of crooks out at the holidays, trying to get cc info. I just got a call from them tonight.  Computer generated asking for Jim, if I was not Jim to hang up.  Anything "official" would ask for James.  Is there a web page I can go into and put the account number they gave me to see who they claim to be collecting?

My wife has done this many times. They continue to call.

I received this called from 1-800-864-5999 who I do not know. So how to I stop receiving this call, thanks

I have been receiving letters and calls from this company on my personal cell phone which I never give out.

The phone number is for Eastern Collection Corp (ECC) located in New York.  They contacted me about a late payment on a subscription that could no longer be automatically withdrawn from my debit card (the exp date had changed).  It wasn't anything I would have been able to check on my credit report (unless I ignore the collection agency in the end), and had nothing to do with my credit cards.  I'll pay the bill, but I'm more upset that the subscription company didn't bother to contact me first.  I will not be subscribing through them again.

they call me every day and I never answer them becouse I know they are Collection Agency. so Do not Anwser that phone nu.....

For the past week or so I've also been getting phone calls and my credit is in very good condition, I don't have any late payments or bad debt.  How do I stop these annoying calls?

I have also been getting these phone calls, on my personal cell phone, for the past 2 weeks or so. I did not answer since I didn't recognize the number. I have no idea how they would have gotten my number. An automated system finally left a message a couple days ago, telling me the company name, and that they were trying to collect a debt. They me an account number, telling me, by name, to call back. Needless to say I have been worried about this, since I don't owe any debt to any company.  
I immediately checked my credit report online, and everything seemed to be in order. I am going to alert my cell phone company about this number, and I will not be calling the 'company' back. As to what further steps I take, I don't really know at this point.

Computer caller left a voicemail message on my wife's cell phone.  Stated they were from Eastern Collections Corp.  Gave an account number and the times to call back.  My wife's cell phone number is never given to anyone other than family and friends.  I have registered our phone numbers with the DO NOT CALL registry.  I will not be returning their phone call.  I will be looking into my wife's credit report to make sure there is not fraud activity.
