actually its not a scam... worked there and for collecting for this specific client you are talking about. first thing first did you get a letter of release stating you settled the account in full??? that is your only proof that you paid it off plus youre receipts for payment at cibc when you put the money into collectcorps bank acct.. if you dont have those then unfortunately your only option is to keep calling until you get your letter. Unfortunately once you pay some agencies could care less about your letter since all they want is your payment so they can hit into commission $$ for the month. so you may have to bombared them with calls like they probably did to you

you're the biggest idiot in the world.. obviously you have no idea what you are talking about cause either 1 you're a pissed off debtor yourself or 2 never been a collector.. for 1 collectors dont only get commission. They get paid actually a pretty descent salary starting at 2000/month with monthly commission on top. and paying $5 a month or so doesnt help anyone cause in reality you will never pay your debt off instead you will be keeping this debt on your credit bureau forever which will inturn make every lendor turn you down for any future lending. as soon as you acknowledge a debt whether on your bureau or not everything starts over again and youre waiting another 7 yrs until it drops off.  And btw incase you didnt realize collections is alot nicer than what it used to be... Imagine stepping out of your house and a man dressed up as a jaguar followed you everywhere all day. Wouldnt approach you but just followed u so everyone you know and didnt know knew you were a deadbeat. Thats how collections were until they made the fair debt collection privacy act. all collectors have to follow this. if u think you are being harrassed by a collector please look at the FDCPA before making any complaints cause 8/10 times collectors are usually in the right. unforunately a couple times you may get a jack*** who bends and breaks the rules. If you come across them ask for full name and their collector #. every collector must have this as they must have a license to collect in any of the provinces they are calling and trying to collect from.

Debt Collector
In Feb of 2010 on behalf of scotiabank, Collectcorp contacted me on a scotiabank visa that had falled delinquent which i knew at the time. The agent from collect corp was ridiculously rude, but because i knew my visa had been delinquent i agreed to a settlement amount and paid the company in 3 payments to a cibc account number and faxed in receipts of payments etc. Now 3 years later i get a phone call saying scotiabank is taking me to court over that unpaid account. I have looked into contacting collect corp and they no longer exist they are now know as gatestone&co and are like impossible to contact ive left 2 messages for them and have not received a call back.....I have no idea what i am supposed to do now....i dont understand why 3 years later they are saying i have not paid it! has anyone else been in this situation? i am starting to think collect corp is a scam

they call me too. I know my rights and if they are 100% with scotiabank then they have no right calling anyone.scotiabank is in violation of the privacy act and also by law they can not give any information about you ,name, number ,address, where you work. they say you broke a payment agreement but they break the law.

Worthington, Extention #4415 her name is Tia, i had a nasty little conversation with her actually this morning (AND recorded it myself as well!!)
The calls had been left in my husbands name and not for me and when i told him to call them back, he told me it was for me!!  I had left my job and am currently at home, but a payment was missed and forgotten about.  They called to collect, but to my husband, trying to settle this by asking where i could make payment, she wouldnt give me anything to work with.  I asked her if she was refusing my payment then at this point, she never gave me a direct answer.  Needless to say i've contacted the bank in which it was for an old card of mine to resolve this and let them know what i think of the ppl that they have working on their behalf!!!!

I too got a call from 800-872-9641. The message was difficult to understand. When I returned the call they stated that I did not want to give my age on 3 seperate occasions. This does not make sense. I have had no prior contact with the organization. When I asked the name, they said that there was a high security tag or something so that I had to answer questions first. I told him (a guy answered, a lady left the message) that this sounds like a scam and he quickly terminated the call.

Very screwy and scary even. I recommend flooding them with calls as well. The extension was 4415

I got a call at work looking for a person who is not on our company list. She was to call Mr Ozmond ext 4416 at 800-872-9641. I figure it was a scam so I looked up the number on google and found this page. I wish these kinds of calls would stop. Seems like they are phishing...but for what?

Debt Collector
Well, well, well..... such an interesting forum.
Although, the ones that are on the side of the collectors are going to have a really rude awakening - and probably very soon.
The collectors are going to end up -
without jobs - go figure - then how are they going to pay for their debt???
Oh, I know, it will be handled as it should be -by the debtors.
If anyone is interested - all who 'employ' collectors: ie: collect corp etc - are on a 'pay if only' commission - that is why collectors only get commissions.
if anyone is again interested: the banks and or any debtors do not 'sell' any file to these types of companies - no, no, no.....
the collectors are only commissioned to 'help' the debtor - the debtor does not 'sell' anything to anyone except the debtee.
collectors do not hold 'title' to your debt.
collectors do not 'own' your debt.
The debtor can at any time 'call back' the debt when the collector has been unable to 'collect' for them.
Now, as I said in the beginning - think about this folks - collectors can only do this kind of job if there is something to collect -
financially our whole system is going to change and drastically and very soon - countries are running out of 'money' - get it.
and:
first - deal only with your debtor - no matter what - if you call at least once or twice a month and try to give them even $5 - the debtor - in front of a Judge - will be told that the debtee is doing their best and it will be thrown out of court - this is because you have shown 'Your" willingness to and attempt to 'pay' for your  debt. That 'You' have at least kept in contact and are trying to meet 'Your' financial obligations.
second: the debtor is only 'using' the collector to do a 'hard hit' - not very kind -
collectors cannot demand any amount of funds from you - they can ask for a payment structure only - a judge will ask if you tried to pay any amount: ie: $5 - you say yes Sir ..... and then the Judge looks at the collector and says: "So, what's the problem here."
third: this is to all of you 'collectors' -
I feel sorry for you. All I've heard is your excuses for and the reasons thereof .....
what you do is not a 'job' - it is a low level, bottom feeding commissions only not-even-rated last attempt to find something I can make a buck at and anything I can find to do kind of 'thing'. Truthfully, you might as well sell yourself on the street.
There is nothing any of you can say that will change that fact. It just isn't a real 'job' nor is it a real type of company. I see your advertising. It is all lies. collectors are just that ..... collectors. They crawl across the floor finding scraps to try to exist on. If it weren't for the 'third party' position - I'm so sure that the phone messages would be even worse and the actual phone calls that are answered would be even more disgusting.
So, at this juncture, my advice to the company owners first and the people they employ second: you'd better find a new 'real job' for in the near future your 'bottom-feeding services' will no longer be wanted..... by anyone!!!
Thank you for allowing us this forum to express our most inner thoughts. It is very much appreciated, Sir or Madam.
I think it is very important that each of us get a chance to hear what another has to say.

How does one block this call on Bell Mobility?

I suspect it is an information theft scheme.
