left message on my office line like it was interrupted so their "name" wasn't given. Again, said not a sales call, but left this number which I knew didn't sound like belonged to any of the credit cards or banks I use. Called to check it out - again, no name of business given (BIG CLUE AGAIN) - "just enter your account number or use out automated system". I knew my instincts were right when the name of the business wasn't mentioned. How do we stop these creeps from targeting and scamming unsuspecting elderly or otherwise?

Similar story: Numerous voicemails left at my unlisted cell phone number by a female with British accent. She said she's calling from World Financial on a personal matter, not a sales call. She leaves a call-back number 800-888-4134. I always deleted the voicemails without calling back, until yesterday, when out of curiosity I called the 800 number. The automated system asked for my account number, which of course I did not have. Then it asked for my Social Security Number, and I hung up. This is a SCAM.

Got the same call. Just spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to report it to the FBI - that was even MORE frustrating. I went through 3 offices in 20 minutes on my CELL phoe. I finally gave up. and you wonder why we are in the shape we are in!
Ben 2011-06-06 20:58:36 Unknown
EXPRESS clothing bill...
Ricardo 2011-06-06 20:58:36 Unknown
All of you are wrong. its not a scam. Its express credit card payment. All your accounts are past due and you need to pay! Keep avoiding this call and you are going to get your credit really messed up. so good luck with that people.

just got a call from an unknown number; female voice with british accent, saying "this isn't a sales call" and to call back 1800-888-4134. i called back from my work phone and it was an automated recording... "thank you for calling our automated system!" (who's system??) then it said, to verify my account, i would need to enter the last 4 digits of my social, as it would be matched against the phone number i called from. what the heck!

A British woman left a message on my answering machine (landline) asking to call back (800) 888-4134 regarding an Express account. The caller ID showed a private caller. I don't have an Express account and my roommates insist their account is not past due. I can't figure out if this is a scam or not but it sure seems like one! I'd recommend calling the store directly--in my case, Express. I'll ask my roommates to call and I'll report back.

Received an automated call on my cell phone...called all numbers listed in this thread and I have NO credit cards under any of the stores this company services...in fact, I have NO credit cards with a balance on it. I am not sure why they are calling, but I'm not entering any information without actually speaking to a human (which isn't possible with these numbers).

Why did I have to get assigned the phone number of a deadbeat. I get these types of calls all the time and it is because I moved and got a new LAN line number and the previous owner has alot of bad debts it seems. In any case, I waited for someone to pick up and when they asked for my information, I instead asked them to tell me who they were calling about any why. Very nervey collection agency. Type that gives their business a bad name

I received a voice mail with this number. When I called it, it states it is an automated service. While following the prompts it says to enter my account number or social security number. No other option given. First of all I have no outstanding debts. Secondly there's no way I'm entering my social security number. I believe this number is a total scam!!!! Do not enter your social security number!

This number IS for Express or Maurice's credit cards. In my situation, the account was closed but there was a final balance payment mix up.

Isn't not spam (at least the number 1 800 888 4134)
I verified this by calling Express and its their collection department (not the collection agent).
Very genuine.. and about your missing payment... so call asap
john 2010-03-25 20:04:44 Unknown
its because youre not paying your bills... if you have a victoria secrets, express, giant eagle, the limited, maurices... etc... credit card.. better expect a late fee
Jonathan 2010-02-16 19:55:19 Unknown
I was skeptical of this call too. However I realized when they said "regarding Express", it may have been with the credit card I have with them. I didn't call back but sure enough, I checked my credit card account online and I had missed a payment ..
People, check your express credit card bill!

My son, who has not lived at home in over two years, has been receiving calls from this number - three times this past Sunday morning before 10! They insist they are from a bank and have sent written information - but never received. My son made the mistake of asking if it was about a particular store and they have kept it up - have been calling for weeks
