This is in fact a legit number from Xerox 800-891-8405 is the meter reading departments automated system where you can submit readings by automated. 866-373-0095 is to speak to a live rep.

Those of you who think this is a fake number you are wrong, as for email address @xerox.com is legit.

try having a decent conversation and ask what you want to know -.- verify people!!!!

It is Xerox, dialing a wrong number if you don't have a copier.

I got a call from this number from someone saying he needs the meter reads for our copying machine.  He had a lot of info - our machine's serial number, the account number, etc - but claimed "they" hadn't received our meter reads for two months and he wanted me to give him those numbers over the phone. I told him I submit those numbers online and have proof of doing so since I print and file the confirmation pages. He said there must have been some problem because they never received those numbers. I hung up and called Xerox directly and found that, yes, they do in fact have all of our meter reads and are not missing any submissions.  This guy is sneaky and even his email ends with "@xerox.com."  Don't give this guy any information.

Calls all the time posing as Xerox service trying to do a "meter read for accurate billing".  They use old names, never know who to speak with, never learn from past calls...  Phishing, I suspect.

Actually, it is a valid call if from 800-891-8405.  Although you are on an online account, it is backed up with an actual phone call if there was a processing error (on either end and it did not come through) or if you are late in submitting your read.  They need the read to bill you and they will call if it was not submitted online when due or if the amount submitted was not consistent with your usual usage (easier to double check then to correct a billing error later on).  The best way to know that is an actual Xerox Rep is to ask them your serial.  They WILL provide it.  Do not give it out.  Unfortunately, due to all the scams out there people who actually call to do there job are made to have a difficult time.  So just a word of advice all you have to do is ask for your serial...if they can't provide it....HANG UP it is not Xerox.

Legit call. If you have Xerox equipment under maintenance you will need to provide meter reads so they can accurately bill you.

Fax Machine
I got a call from this number looking for a person that used to work for the company many years ago. He stated that he's from Xerox, more specifically the Meter Reads department. I have answered many calls from scammers looking for copier information and this was by far the hardest one to figure out. He already had the serial number and seemed legit. He was very polite and explained the process as I had asked many questions. Unfortunately, I know this copier does not exist and hasn't for quite some time.
