It's from a telemarketing company, trying to sell you a membership to a 'discount vacation club'. They offer you a 'free' vacation if you go down to their store and sit through a 40 min. session, give you a free meal coupon from a restaurant like Swiss Chalet, and then have you 'draw' from their prize jar - you end up with a free vacation at member price, but you have to buy their expensive membership still. I guess if you're close and have 40 mins to spare you get a free meal out of the deal...

Well they just called...its nine at night. I saw the 1-800 number and hung up without answering.  They promptly called back, and the girl said "Don't hang up in my face b***h!" and hung up.  I am so fed up with these calls...I don't need this crap.

Who are these asshats? They call me frquently and I'm sick of it. They need to come out with technology to block these annoying f***ing calls

Thanks to sites like these, I convinced my wife that we're not going down there and coming home with a 50" plasma just for sitting and listening for 40 minutes.

They are SHAMELESS CREATURES WHO ONLY LOVE business >>MONEY. They can call you even in the late night hours. And it happened here. NO Government has any rulez 4 them if there are rulez they do not care. no charges nothing ever 4 them.

You are able to cancel your membership if you do it within 10 days. Previously there were problems with that (if you do deep research into this company). They also have to give you your refund within 10 days, I am on my 12th day waiting.

Overall, all the people are friendly and curteous, but never be forced into an instant decision by people that say, "You HAVE to buy it now, otherwise you miss your opportunity!"

Nobody who has a good product needs to resort to that type of close for a sale. Just walk away.

Im terribly sorry to hear of your experience.  Although you tried to cancel how come you never tried to us them?  Werent you curious to find out if they could have saved you money since you lost it?

So then its not a scam, there are savings in condos and if you do alot of travelling myself just about everyone knows that you can find savings on flights :)  I WISH!  By the sounds of it to save the money you need to use condos once in a while and travel at least once every couple of years.

Have you actually attending what they were offering?  How do you know that theyre a scam or are you going in accordance from others?

I got the same call 3 years ago, and was told the same old story.  so I went to the presentation in kitchener, they got me somehow, I paid about $3000.  Two days later I realized that this is not for me, so I called to cancell and I was told that the manager was not in to process the cancellation and that he would call me back shortly.  I called back everyday after to get the same answer, finally he called me back and told me that it was too late to cancell and the legal time to cancell has past and I'm in a binding contract.  So I never used the membership, so they told me that I have to keep paying the monthly dues or I have to cancell.  I cancelled, and I lost all that money, never once I used their service.  This was the biggest scam I've experienced, they walked away with all my money and nothing in return.  Their time will come, how could people like that sleep at night? what goes around comes around.  I know the people who work the phones are only doing their job, but those scum bags who lie and cheat (the managers and sales people) I hope you burn in hell, and I hope somebody take your money from you forcefully.

Seems like you have a problem with people calling you. Seems you think it's rude. Ever stop to think what a low life no good child you seem like when you yell at them, swear at them, have your children pretend to be you? That's right you're as low as we are. And if you're angry i said that: seems the truth hurts. Take a look around the economy is in the hole and the city I live in has NO jobs except this one. So I took it so I can feed my family and not cost tax payers money by being on welfare. I just find it HILARIOUS that the same people who call us garbage are the same people that scream, yell profanities, lie and have their children screen calls don't think they are acting like children. I say grow up and deal with them like an adult, ask nicely and then if they DON'T stop continue to be an adult and seek legal means DON"T harass them back or lob foul mouthed libel at them.

This is a Canadian company that markets 100% to Canadians.  Don't you have anything better to do then judge someone for choosing to work in a thankless job rather then sit at home not working?

well, the person called and didn't realize that my machine was recording what she was saying.  she was complaining to another telemarketer that the telemarketing numbers are being blocked by phones.  the conversation went on and on until my machine axed it.  i promptly blocked the number!

I also received this call, three times before I invited my girlfriend down to come with me.

I eventually went, and I was too young.  They hired me on the spot!  I didnt' do very well, and I moved back home (just south of edmonton)

I dealth with grumpy people all the time when I was there, and it appeared to be perfectly legit.  I was threatened to be fired because I explained that they had good airfare savings, and I learned that no-one can do that anymore.  That company specialized in timeshare condos and cruises.  I learned a lot when I was there.

I even did phone work!  I was one of those "ANNOYING JERKS" who called, we were told though that we had to follow a very strict script.. no selling on the phone, and no lies or assumptions!  I thought that was cool of them.  I hate telemarketing work though, so they moved me to sales, and then I didn't make much money there so I quit.  I feel like I'm defending them, but I just wanted to let people see that I didn't feel like a jerk when I worked there, because I believed we were helping put nice people on nice vacations <- that was the slogan hah!  For thos eof you saying, "GO GET A REAL JOB" when you need work, and you don't know anyone, and you JUST moved to a city, telemarketing jobs are the easiest to get.  I hated being told I was scum when I did it, I was always very polite and curteous, I hated being told I was a bad person!! At my volunteering job I used to tell people all the horror stories of the rude people on the phone, it seems like it affects both parties.  

I got a call from the number after I worked there, I explained the situation to them, and they never called me again.  The trick is to say that you are 18 years old, they won't bother you.

Yes, I received this call too and they talked my husband and I in attending one of there presentations.  We became members for 5 years $3000.00 and then a monthly membership for $21.00 per month.  They have only ever saved me $100.00 per person on my trips and that doesn't even come close to the money I paid to become a member.  Once again I'm going on a trip and friends of mine found that Tripcentral.ca was cheaper then FAmily Vacations by $59.00 per person.  They have not lived up to what they promise.  It's just a scam to get your money up front and never really get any savings.  The only savings you would get is if you booked a condo...and then you still have to get a flight which they don't save you any money on either.  I'm canceling my membership...I've been into it for 3 years now and we're suppose to go away with friends in march 2009 to cuba "Melia Las Americas" hotel and trip central was cheaper and didn't cost me any membership...PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM..NOTHING IS CHEAPER EXCEPT THE CONDOS.

They also call themselves Wild Rose Vacations as well as Family Vacation Center. I get calls from both using same number. Scam artists - don't was your time even answering the phone.

Yes, we must do something about the cross border telemarketing. If the government was at all interested in their constituents there would be some attempt made to require phone companies to filter any calls that should be on the DNC as they enter the country. It is not impossible to do but I do not expect them to make it possible.

Out of interest, read the article on "Canada's Telecommunications Regulator ..." found under Latest News to the right of this page. The comments following it really tell the story. Canadians would like an opt in system.

If you get a call from these guys, make sure you have added your number to the national do not call list (if you are in Canada), and file a complaint against them.

Honestly...I didn't give them a chance to get through a sentence. I am so hounded with calls everyday...I just basically say now...not interested, go to h*ell and I hang up on them before they can on me. FED UP, SICK OF IT ALL, and question just how effective our DNC lists will be. I get so many calls from the states. My area code is not acceptable on their list and our DNC exempts some of my problems calls. I am in Alberta. There is plenty of "reputable" work here...to all you phone marketers...GO GET A REAL JOB!! or give me your home # so I can call you several times a day to solicit my business!!

Just got a call from them. I'm in Edmonton. Didn't answer because it was an unknown 800 number.

I got this phone call but I monitor my incoming calls on the display, if I don't know the toll free number, I don't bother. so, I didn't answer and I let the fax machine pick it up.

Just called me while feeding my 8 month old. They were polite enough to say they'd call back later, when they heard him in the background. Thanks, now I know not to answer it!
