Received robo-voice call stating "Credit Union Debit Card Had Been Locked" and to call 1-800-900-9789. Voice synth, not recorded human.
Don't have CU debit card. And my bank would have called with a more specific number, and not a synthesized voice.
Reverse lookup for 18009009789 lists several entries from China.

I run a hobby telephone exchange. I got the "Wells Fargo" call coming in over SIP from the internet to a honeypot line. (I.e., a line designed to catch scams---it's not listed anywhere, but records anything said.) They tried to make several calls through to another number. I imagine they're bouncing off other internet exchanges.

Thank you. got the same message just now and got a busy signal so i thought i'd hit the boards in case it was the scam that it is :)

I just received the same call on my cell phone. This is the third time. When I googled the number displayed it is for a business in Las Vegas. Apparently these scammers can change what shows on caller ID.
I recorded the call. Does anyone know who I should contact to report this?

Said to call back to unlock my card. Press 1 to talk to operator. But it was a VM so obviously that would not work. Caller id was 318-325-9100.

Poorly done robot voice about WF Visa Debit Card. Gave this 800 number (or press one) Must be spoofing the CID. Looks like it is coming from everywhere, so tough to block.

I got the same call this afternoon from the same female computer voice as many other callers. The number it came from was 905-648-3781. I did not answer so a voicemail was left. Part was cut off but the transcript said "...that your debit visa card has been locked. To reactivate call us at 1(800) 900-9789 or press one now to be transferred to our 24 hour security department."
SCAM.

Voicemail call from "Wells Fargo" came in from 305-651-3993 (Miami), said they were closing my Visa account. I don't have a Wells Fargo Acct!! They said to press 1 for "security" or call 800-900-9789. If you DO have a wells fargo visa and you get this call, don't give out any info. You should call the real number on your card to ask. Don't trust calls to or from these numbers!

I keep getting one from "Wells Fargo" with the same message twice now. Sure enough mine was "locked" also. Once I got a real number but this time it said 100000000 (several zeros). I don't have a Wells Fargo account of any kind. How annoying - I am on the no call list also. How do we get rid of this pesty thing?

Says my Wells Fargo card was lost and deactivates. Asks me to call 800-900-9789. I don't bank with Wells Fargo
Jim 2011-08-08 20:03:19 Unknown
Had a call an hour ago; from number 970.532.4041. Said that my Wells Fargo card is lost, and to contact this number. Don't even have a WF card.

I got the same call on my cell. The number it came from was 303.800.1188.

I received a call from this number stating it was from Wells Fargo, and that my card was locked (I do not have a Wells Fargo account). Then it stated that if I want to re-activate my card, press 1. Of course I knew this was a scam, but wanted to see how far they would take it. It asked me to enter in my full, 16-digit card number. There's no way to get to a person, and when you call this number, it just rings forever. No voicemail or person answers it. I am getting the calls daily, and it is annoying.
The caller ID has showed the following on separate occasions:
302
87017005
18667
310001212

I received a call from 317-215-5321 to call 800-900-9789 saying my debit card was locked. Definitely a scam so let me know if there is any other info you need to catch these scoundrels. I have a Virgin prepaid phone.

Same scam.. caller id read 970-532-4041 in Berthoud, CO

I got exactly the same message. The number came up as unknown, and I don't have a credit union card. Scam.
Georgine 2011-07-21 14:28:39 Unknown
They called both my husband and I, almost exactly at the same time on our cell phones. Our cells are registered, unlisted, listed on the do not call list, and we NEVER give them out.
It's obviously a scam. The message got cut off on my voice mail, but it said my card had been locked and to call the number. You know it's a spam bot calling because of the instant calls, and most likely illegally spoofed.
My wife's ID showed 317-215-5321, Greenwood, IN. On mine it showed nothing but "0000000" I also have voicemail translation sent to email, and it showed up as "unknown" but gave the 800 number to call back.
The voice was also some crappy digitized, computerized female voice. These are worse than solicitors. DO NOT call any number they leave you. You never know if they have some kind of funky auto-reverse charge set up to charge your home or cell. Seriously. Seen it before.

Beware of SCAM, got the same call. Line was busy when called back. None of my other debit cards were 'locked'.

Someone from this number left a message stating that my credit union visa debit card was locked and to call the 24 hour security line. This is a SCAM because I used my credit union Visa debit card today.
Tried calling them back but the line was busy.

The call came from 701-509-8703, when I did a reverse look up it came back to a cell phone in ND. The message was about a "Visa Debt Card", my bank would call me directly. SCAM
Molly 2011-07-16 00:14:49 Unknown
Told me that my state employee credit union account is locked but I do not have an account. Said to press "1? to reach their 24 hour security line.
Steve 2011-07-15 22:57:03 Unknown
Automated message stating my "state employees credit union credit card is locked due to fraud, press #1 to be connected"
Too bad I don't have a credit union account.
SCAM SCAM SCAM
Caller id said the call was from phone number "302"
