Association for Lifestyle Reform Adds Fraud Investigation Division to Protect Its Members
Hotline set up for customers
Chino, CA - February 23, 2010 ?The Association for Lifestyle Reform (ALR) recently added a Fraud Investigation Division for customers to contact if they believe they did not purchase what was originally promised by third-party marketers.
ALR is a membership-based organization that provides discounted services to its members, such as pre-paid legal services and discounts on vacations, auto rentals, and prescriptions. As a membership-based association, ALR is able to provide discounts on behalf of its members by obtaining group pricing, including limited supplemental insurance benefits.
ALR engages third-party marketing firms to sell memberships. The company carefully screens the marketing firms it works with and sets and provides guidelines when speaking with potential members; however, there have been instances where independent marketing firms deviated from ALR?s guidelines. It is ALR?s policy to ensure the security, privacy and satisfaction of its members. To that end, ALR has established a Fraud Investigation Division. The division will take customer complaints regarding the sales process and investigate the issues regarding the marketing firm involved.
?We are very excited about being able to offer our product to people, however, some members have experienced an inferior sales process,? said Brad Wessler, CEO of Association for Lifestyle Reform. ?Under no circumstances will we tolerate bad sales practices from the marketing firms we work with. Therefore, we set up a division specifically for this purpose and a toll-free number for our members to call.?
About the Association for Lifestyle Reform
The Association for Lifestyle Reform, ALR, provides discounted benefits to its membership. Members benefit from the association purchasing benefits at group discounts. Although one of the many services include limited supplemental insurance benefits, the association does not sell or market health insurance.

Please contact your local insurance commissioner's office and give them as much information as possible on these scam artists. The more facts the IC offices have, the more they can work to put these bozos out of commission!
Check before you buy, most insurance divisions have information on their websites re: who is legit and who is not. By banding together, hopefully they will move on, but probably to some other scam as they do not have enough integrity for an honest days work. Good luck!

I am a new victim of CWA. I bought the insurance based on the fax I received from them. Later when I tried to ask a few questions, they kept me holding for long several times. They I googled about CWA and this is what I have found out. They already took my 940.00 from my account. If anyone knows what to do to get back the money, please let me know. I will really appreciate it. Thanks.

Consolidated Workers Association, Incorporated out of Delaware, is currently under investigation in several different states. They have been issued immediate "Cease and Desist" orders already from at least 2 different states, Delaware & Utah. Contact your states Insurance Commissioners office or Insurance Fraud Division. If there is a "Cease and Desist" order in place in your state any money they took from you is considered a fraudulent charge. Contact your bank, dispute the charge, you should get your money back.

I subscribed and cancelled within 3 days in june..nevertheless..they continued to deduct payment of $324....then was told i would have to wait 30 days..their policy...one month later..today they say another 90 days..i have reported them to every conceivable agency in CA & NY..now awaiting the state consumer protection board's action..
was there one particular means you had ? was it the certified letter? their website has a Delaware address..was that where you sent it?...i'll keep trying the tel # @ 7am Pacific time as you suggest. ..what an outrageous horrendous experience this has been..cancelled my bank acc't today..
Delaware address 2008-08-01 16:15:22 Unknown
is their Registered Agent.
Finally 2008-08-01 16:14:38 Unknown
I was FINALLY reimbursed, but after faxing my cancellation letter 3 days in a row within the required 7-day period after getting the package; constant calls to them; contacting my state's department of insurance and fraud division; sending a certified letter to CWA via their Registered Agent, who is at the address posted on their website; and having my bank's fraud division help. They finally sent payment to me.
My bank was also able to put a stop on any payments to CWA/NASBA and anyone else using the bank routing numbers (to receive the payment) used by these folks. Also, they have a list of the ONLY autopays that can come from my account on a monthly basis. they changed my debit card number and so far we've not been hit with any other payments. Also after receiving payment, i called CWA who again confirmed the account was closed and no payments will ever be attempted again.
Then after speaking with this rep, i was left with the impression that CWA does not know that these brokers using the blast faxes to sell their policies are passing them off as HMO or PPO policies. They have no knowledge that they're being marketed as an insurance policy. They also have no knowledge that these brokers are NOT disclosing who the policy is with until the customer is surprised when they open the CWA envelope - all the while believing the "insurance" was from the Broker's company which usually sounds like an insurance company. SO I AM TOLD by CWA. So I conveniently faxed them the information I kept on my "broker" guy which showed them how they were marketed to me.
I hope you folks are able to get reimbursed as I did, but I had to be persistent and always called right at 10 a.m. Pacific Time when it was early in CA.
Good Luck all.

RE: CWA INSURANCE!!!!!!!WHAT A SCAM. READ THE BENEFITS PACKAGE PAGE TWO.
I believe I am a victim of the same exact scam. The people selling and administrating to this plan have to be aware that they are criminals and lying to people everyday. They are located IN LAS ANGELES. CWA CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER 800-919-5514. They are very careful about how they word their documents. They OFFER a UNIQUE MEDICAL/HEALTH "CO-PAY-REIMBURSEMENT BENIFIT. The CWA Membership Medical Benefit is NOT and Insurance Plan: it is NOT a Discount Plan. The CWA Benefit is a Unique "Reimbursement "Benefit. We recieved insurance cards and all looked ok until the wife and I went for our checkups. I also had a stress test for over 1k. They are refusing to pay. Their customer service is a scam. Requesting bank statements of payments etc. We are going to have to cancel our bank account to curb any additional deductions that might pop up as read from others. I have contacted the State of California and will file a complaint. Also send info to the Department of Managed Health. Also the FTC. They are clearly misrepresenting themselves as an insurance company supplying little to no benefits to the consumer. http://www.ripoffreport.com/ is also another place to post. Good Luck.

I KNEW IT WAS YOU BEN. You coward. I have e-mails proving you told me I was buying a legitimate HMO policy - you never EVER told me you were setting up this thing with CWA. THEN You took down your e-mail when I tried to contact you back after cancelling the policy. YOU LIED!!!! YOU ARE A LIAR and a COWARD! You wouldn't even call back the agent at the Department of Insurance for my state - so she's turned you and yours over to a FRAUD INVESTIGATOR!
Try to call me now BEN, you know my number and MY NAME - make it right and help me get my $700+ BACK!
I am still awaiting refund from CWA - their claim is that if you cancel within a certain timeframe, they refund you -- well, i did and i am still waiting.
Thanks Coward for helping rip me off -- and probably alot of the others posting on this board.
So challenge me will you ... i will post EVERY SINGLE E-mail/FAX sent to me by you on this board to prove my original post.

IF THIS IS LEGITIMATE CO. THEN TELL ME WHY THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CWA/NABSA AND HOW HAVE THEY HELPED YOU? BY THE WAY MY PAPERWORK STATES NABSA AND NO ONE WILL TOUCH THEIRS OR CWA . PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ENLIGHTEN ME.

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, WE NEED TO UNITE. CWA IS NOT RECOGNIZED AS INS. CO OR DISCOUNT PROGRAM WHICH WHEN PLAN PPURCHASED WAS PRESENTED AS SUCH. AS OF 7-3-08 I CALLED THE 800-919-5514 STAYED ON HOLD 30 MINUTES AND ASKED THEM WHO THEIR UNDERWRITER WAS (I WAS TOLD TO BY THE STATE BOARD OF TEX INS)AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE THE UNDERWRITERS IN ALL STATES.SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME, RECEIVED FAX FROM NATIONAL HEALTHCARE ASSN GOT CARDS IN MAIL, AND HAVE BEEN PAYING 299 MONTH.NOTHING HAS BEEN PAID AND DISCLAIMER FROM BEECH STREET PRETTY MUCH SAYS IT ALL.
SCAS8047 2008-06-11 22:28:42 Telemarketer
CWA stands for Consolidated Workers Association, its located in Delaware possibly just a mail drop because its principle, Walter R. Cecchine lives in Florida. CWA is contracted with a company operated by Brad and Pam Wessler in Chino Hills, California. "Associaded Health" is just a name used by a telephone marketing company, they will probably just get a new 800 number andchange their name to something just as inocuous when it gets too hot for them. When you call CWA your call goes to Chino Hills. Brad Wessler is licensed by the California Department of Insurance Lic No. 0670952. If enough people complain maybe the Feds will nail him and stick his keester in the federal pen.

Associated Health, who sold me a plan WITH them - ended up setting us up with Consolidated Workers Association. Associated Health said that CWA was part of the beechstreet network - they are not - see beechstreet.com's disclaimer regarding CWA and NASBA.
I reviewed my paperwork as did my state's Department of Insurance and they deemed that Associated Health is fraudulently marketing "insurance." If you look at CWA's website, they state they ARE NOT an insurance company and ARE NOT a discount health benefit ... see cwabenefits.com under membership and click on a plan description. they state "SUMMARY OF CWA V.I.P. MEDICAL BENEFITS
The CWA Membership Medical Benefit is NOT an Insurance Plan; it is NOT a Discount Plan."
"Hybrid of discount/insurance benefits" you state? LOOK AT CWA's website and see the quote above on their own page! There's no "discount/insurance benefits" about it.
My facts wrong? I think not.
Also, the Associated Health agent that dealth with me doesn't exist anylonger ... unless the BB in your name is BEN.
agentpromoters 2008-06-03 21:09:48 Unknown
Please get your Facts Straight before making these reports
it has a ppo network and there are many more benefits than
what you state.please review your paperwork more closley.
this is a hybred of discount/insurance benefits.
I challengr you to prove otherwise

We were sent a fax through a company called Associated Health regarding insurance for $299/month. We sign up being told it's insurance. We get our packet and it clearly states that they are NOT insurance nor are they a discount health plan. You pay $3600 a year for only $300 in benefits - when you read the 500 Plan. They pay out for a maximum of 6 doctor visits only $300! Yet you pay $3600. Associated Health "BEN" told us it WAS a PPO Insurance Plan. It obviously is NOT.
