I receive messages and phone calls multiple times a day from this phone number on my landline phone. They are looking for a person that I do not know, never knew and never will know. I am assuming that person must have had my phone number before me. I don't call them back and will not answer the phone when they do call. I wish they would stop harassing me.
Stan Sanders 2014-02-22 16:31:51 Unknown
When I read your message - I couldn't believe it. I am experiencing the same thing. I fulfilled my contract and they sent me an un-itemized bill saying I owe $150 for services, surcharges and other fee's. The time frame is AFTER the contract ended. Verizon Wireless is a predatory company. Look out. Anyone have the name of a consumer advocacy group / attorney to contact. We need to put a stop to this.
Stan Sanders 2014-02-22 16:24:38 Telemarketer
States my name then tells me to call the number. No explanation. I just completed a contract with Verizon wireless and went with a competitor. It appears they're trying to get me to call them with this tactic. I want it to stop.

The number on my caller id was 651-319-5995 out of Hastings, MN. The automated message said my name (!!) and gave me the 800-941-3849 number to call back. Called back and no answer, then it hung up on me. What the heck?

Add us to the list of people who canceled Verizon wireless and received calls from this number.
Actually, the number showed up as (410)779-3142 but the computer message told us to call this 800 number, or "Press 1 to hear your message".

Closed out my Verizon account a couple of months ago and this number has been calling twice a day...18009413849...i have not answered and will not call them back! Companies that do this kind of stuff are scum! Verizon is mad because after 20 years of my business i switched to Metro PCS saving me $50 a month and thats with 3 extra lines...verizon is a crap company...raised our rates and are now harassing me because i switched! They can suckit!

You would not need to provide billing information but the scammers site is made to resemble the real Verizon Wireless site. It passes all information typed through to the real site while it logs your account number and password. Fake information is rejected by the real site and you can see those responses passed back by the fake site. Once they have your account and password the scammers log on the real site and their own devices to your account and run up thousands in fraudulent charges before you catch on. They may also change your password to prevent you from getting back in and stopping the scam.

It's a scam. They called and left a message that I was due a $491 credit. All I had to do was log in to vzw.491.com.... where, I imagine, I would need to log in and submit billing information.

I have been receiving 1 or 2 calls a day from 800-941-3849 for a couple weeks. A recorded message claims that "there is an important message" for me and to press #1 to hear it. When I fail to do that (I wasn't born yesterday) the recording says to call "800-941-3849 to retrieve message. Needless to say, I do not do as instructed. I'm on the "Do Not Call" list so this is very unusual. Please capture the perpetrators and send them to another galaxy.

For the past two days and now going on the 3rd. I have been receiving calls several times a day on my home phone. Today I received a call again with another phone number. This is 3rd phone number they have used. This time they left the message that everyone here has been receiving. I do owe on a disconnected acct but I spoke with a Rep yesterday to understand my bill and sent it off today. Thanks to this website I have some idea what is going on. I have blocked every number so far. Caller ID has shown a local number each time. This is ridiculous!
Nate 2013-04-17 01:11:04 Unknown
Calls several times per day, claims to be Verizon Wireless. Caller ID is shown as "Out of Area".
Ok, so you're lying about your caller ID. Also, if you're with Verizon, then wouldn't you have my frigging cell phone number you idiot?!?! !@(#)*!@# OFF!

I've been victim of their endless calling to. I don't understand how this works for them. If they are phising they need to talk to you to get your information. Why are they there, yet remain silent. Are they merely seeking proof that they've called a working number that they c an then sell to other phone scammers.

Have received several calls from "Lakeview Funeral Home", 316-869-0613, in Wichita, KS. When I answered it told me to press 1 for my message(s) or to call 800-941-3849, which I find here to belong to some collection agency supposedly acting on behalf of Verizon Wireless. I have contacted the funeral home via their official website. I do not know if they are affiliated with the collection agency or if the collection agency has hijacked their phone number. That, in itself, tells me this company is unethical, in the least.
Norma Hernandez 2013-03-09 16:45:28 Unknown
Need to add something else: I called the numbers back (both the 800 number and the regular 407 number) and immediately got a recording asking to verify if it was me (this by name).
Norma Hernandez 2013-03-09 16:42:20 Unknown
I've been receiving calls from this number every day. Since they don't identify what the nature of the call is or the company name I just delete it. I got fed up receiving calls every day and decided to check it out. It's annoying....

I cancelled my Verizon hotspot yesterday due to them not having unlimited data plans and constantly getting charged ten dollars for each gig of data over the plan. Too expensive and not worth it. They tried to sell me on a phone plan instead and now this morning I am getting calls from this 818 exchange number that left a message to call 800-941-3849, when I called they put me in the phone tree for forever and never identified their company but did ask for the number I was calling about. I figured out it was Verizon due googling the number.. . I cannot believe they put me in collections so fast. I don't even have a final bill from Verizon yet that includes my early cancellation penalty. I will wait for the letter and go from there.

Every day someone from India calls my work number and then asks me what number they called me from!!!!!! When I give them my work number, they say they don't have that number!! Then, they call again the next day.
These calls come in on our main office number, so I can't answer the calls.

If what I read above is true, I am flipping pissed right now! We left Verizon roughly six weeks ago. We were completely free from any contracts and canceled our service with them. They sent a bill to our house last week. It has zero details on what the charges were for. We had already paid our final bill from them! The customer service person we called said it was for reconnection and usage fees. This is impossible. Our Verizon phones haven?t had service for six weeks ? hell, our kids dropped one of them in the toilet over a month ago. I KNOW it hasn?t been used in any capacity. Cust service: ?Let me review these notes. This doesn?t make sense. I?m sending to another team and they?ll call you back.? Did they? Nope. Now I?m getting calls from a collection agency? This is RIDICULOUS. This company way overcharges for their services compared to other providers and then they can?t even figure out how to stop charging people once they get smart and leave!
BTW, the bill I received was something like 20% of what our old bills were.
RE The Widow: No, they don?t care. It?s a business. It?s not that I?m unsympathetic to your loss but when you?re under a contract, you owe the money regardless of your circumstances. deal with people every day who invent sob-stories in an attempt to pay their bills. As far as a big company is concerned, there?s no difference between you and someone who?s just careless with paying their bills. Front-line customer service especially doesn?t get to go around subjectively offering leniency.

***COLLECTIONS SCAM***
I've been getting calls from several local numbers with an automated system leaving a message requesting (by name) that I call this 800 number; called the number and spoke with a man who said he was, "Verizon Wireless, conducting a courtesy call for an owed debt".
The tool I spoke to on the phone insisted I owed $70 (this was on an account that is no longer in my name).
Although I was certain this was a scam attempt, I informed him of the ownership change and that I've not been responsible for the account in months. His response was of the "nuh uh" caliber, repeatedly insisting that I could hurt my credit if I refused to pay.
I verified with a VERIZON WIRELESS REPRESENTATIVE TO CONFIRM I HAD NO DEBT OWED TO THEM AND WAS INFORMED THEY'VE BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS SCAM.
VERIZON CONDUCTS THEIR OWN COLLECTIONS - DO NOT GIVE THESE SCUMBAGS ANY INFORMATION...but maybe cuss them out a little bit.

Thank you for letting me know that after just 3 days of cancelling my account with VERIZON they have some scam bill Collector calling me.
They used this number 260-440-7748 to make the call on my caller ID and then asked me by way of digital recording to call back this number (800) 941-3849
Gotta love BS and give me a chance to pay you off before you start hounding me. I will tell everyone I know to drop Verizon Wireless as I have and switch to another provider and currently out of all my friends I got to switch to this service that will total at least 50 people. Not much in the grand scheme of things but hey.. screw you.

I had the same thing happen to me. I only called Verizon after I received a bill in the mail for the closed account. I called Verizon, the number listed on the Verizon Wireless website, talked to a rep, gave her the old account number and was transfered to make the final payment. I've been getting a ton of very suspicious calls lately which is why I called Verizon directly. When this number first called me, it came up on my caller ID as a local number, not an 800 number which is what raised a red flag for me.

9-13-2012 I have been receiving this same call from this number a couple of times a day. It always comes
in from a Tameast number (Tampa) but always a different number. It leaves a message for me (my name)
and asks me to call this toll free number but never a name or who is calling. I did have a problem with
Verizon wireless recently and paid the reduced bill this week so hopefully these calls will stop. These above
messages were a great help. Thanks to this website.

They called from a local number and left a message that sounded like a spliced recording of the words based on the tone of voice shifting.
