The phone number is valid for online services, however the info being requested in the screen - my debit card #, CCV, expiration and password - is coming from a fraudulent source. I called 800Wachovia, had to prove who I was, was given a new password and sent an e-mail with which to log in and reset my account. I did all of that, plus enter a new password, and answer security questions... only to be brought to the same window asking for debit card info.

I went to another computer, went to the wachovia site, entered user and password and got right in to my account. So, there is a attempt to commit fraud going on here and I still can't get in to my account on this computer. Similar situation happened with Ebay a month ago.

Look out people. The logos, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses can all be legit but the request for secure info is fraudulent.

I agree that this is a scam! The URL from the message led me to:
http://dorel.com.mx/tools/client/index.php?ac ... on%3dreturnHome

Wachovia's site should show:
https://www.wachovia.com/

If you look at both links there are differences. Also the email I got said:

E-MAIL CHANGE NOTIFICATION

Thank you for banking online at wachovia com. Our records indicate that you recently added or made a change to one of your email address(es). This notification is to confirm that you initiated this change.

If you feel you have received this email in error and did not add or change your email address please log into Wachovia Online Banking to review your account details. If you have any questions, please call us at (800) 950-2296, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Please do not "Reply" to this Alert.

Thanks again for choosing Wachovia,

Actually I received an e-mail which said to call (800) 950-2296 regarding a recent change of my e-mail address which I supposedly gave them after logging in.  I suspect it is fraud.  I do not have an active account with Wachovia and did not advise them of anything.  The official Wachovia website at www.wachovia.com says to contact them at (800) WACHOVIA or (800) 922-4684 not (800) 950-2296.  If there is any problem with your Wachovia account, Wachovia should contact you by phone to advise you of same.  I would then hangup and call back at WACHOVIA's number (800) WACHOVIA to then speak with a company representative to see if you do in fact have a problem.  Snopes.com has not reported anything on this activity.  Beware of scammers and identity thiefs.

correction, THIS NUMBER IS NOT FRAUD.  this phone number is a valid wachovia number.  my wachovia branch just called me back and said this letter was sent to me because one of my billers i have set up in online bill pay called them to change their address.  it was my landscaper, why he didnt call me, i dont know.  anyway.  the fact that she asked me for my full social with an attitude even though the letter had a claim number is still a problem that is being investigated and im glad all my accounts were changed anyway.   i will call this number back to complain to the manager of the department.

It's wachovias Mobile banking division. They are not telemarketing, and probably wanted something official. If you are not a customer, well they just probably dialed the wrong number
