Got call from this number, leaves no message

Called - left no message - another website says it is trying to sell car warranties ... I don't know - I'm on the do not call list - but it doesn't make any difference ... why do we pay for a governmental agency that does nothing?

The number is from a company called "National Protection Services" and they try to sell warranty services to unsuspecting consumers. If you answer the call, there will be a recorded message asking you to press a number for more information.

Woke me up early this AM - just after I had gotten to sleep  (I work nights).  No message.  Agree about the DO NOT CALL list - the whole thing has turned into a SHAM against the public.  I have been registered since it was first offered, and nowadays I get MANY MORE SPAM CALLS than I EVER did BEFORE the DO NOT CALL was implemented.  Not a single day goes by without at least 2-3 calls per day from unidentified callers - caller ID "TOLL FREE CALL".

Legitimate companies adhere to the Do Not Call list, have normal websites listing their location, the names of their owners, and what business they are in, and you can find their phone numbers online in a regular phone directory.

Scammers and creeps and grifters do not give a hoot about the Do Not Call list. They're already criminals, so what do they care about following some government rule?  They make money by preying on the unsuspecting, and they sincerely hope that's going to be you.

Received a call from this number, son answered, and the guy hung up.  I called the number and he would not tell me where he was calling from and hung up.

I recieved a phone call today from this number. Woman said she was calling about my extended warranty. I asked her which vehicle she was calling about, she replied, "any vehicle."  She then asked me if I knew approx. how many miles I had on any of the cars. My reply, "low milage." She then asked if I can verify the year and make of the car(s).  I told her she should know that information since  she's calling me about the extended warranty on "my" vehicle. (I like to play games with telemarketers) She hung up....hmmm, I wonder why?

There was a delay of several seconds after I answered, but a woman came on and gave me an extended car warranty pitch. I asked her what company she was calling for, and explained that my number is on the federal Do Not Call list. I think she said "National Protection Agency" but there was a lot of background noise on her end. I also asked her to remove me from their call list, she was polite and said she removed the number. I always file a report with the federal DNC as well as the FTC for these types of calls.

This company is a scam.  They keep calling saying I failed to apply for the extended warranty on my new car.  When I ask them to tell me what vehicle they are referring to they don't know.  When I try to get any information as to who they are they hang up.

3/16/2011 at 3:49pm I picked up the phone and the other side hung up.  When I called the number according to my caller ID 800-962-4718 and asked to have my number removed I was asked "oh, you dont want to renew your warranty?".  Since I had no idea who it was I asked they remove my number no matter who they were.  I was told they had my name and number and would remove it. I asked who they were calling and they said "Catherine" and asked to speak to Catherine.  I had to AGAIN say I was the only person at the number my name being Linda ****** and finally seemed like they would remove my number.

Tim, thanks for the reverse lookup. This same 'enterprise' called me in Fla today.

It is a shame that many of the helpless posters know how to  find this Internet site to complain, but can't  be bothered check out the FCC website to file a complaint against the perpetrator:

Seems like most  complainers expect someone else to solve the problem for them and/or think  government employees are psychic and  and go after these scam artists as soon as they start making illegal telemarketing calls. File an FCC complaint and they will get fined enough to remember it for a while.

No complaints = no cure. and the problem will only get worse. Better yet, defund the agency,  fire the people and effectively gut the law. Then the telemarketing lobby will celebrate victory over those varmint regulators.

Ha! Interesting. I made at appointment at the Toyota dealership yesterday and got this call today.

Rec'd call from these telemarketers today despite being on the do no call list. Caller said our warranty had lapsed. She was hard sell and wouldn't take no for an answer. When I said we'd received a lot of junk mail from them, she denied ever sending more than 1 "notice of lapse" in Dec.

I received a phone call from this number telling me my vehicle warranty was expiring. I told her she was incorrect and was not interested in what she had to offer. She wanted to argue with me about my warranty coverage. I tried to call the number back to file a complaint, but received no answer, only music playing. I am registered with the "Do Not Call" service and do not want sales calls of this nature made to my phone number.

i am the no-call list, yet i get these calls with no response when i answer!this is very rude ans time consuming! What's the next step????

Just received a called from them a few minutes ago. Like the other posts above, they were trying to sell auto warranties. When I answered the phone, they asked for the fake name I use for my phone bill, that is also posted in the phone book.

Me too!  I tried to explain I was on the do not call list and he made a childish noise to drown me out and then hung up!

They called me today, and we lost our dog yesterday, so we thought it was the humane society calling to say, "we found your lost doggeh", so now Im mad & reddeh 4 action wen u r!!!!  D':|

Said hello twice, then a man said he wanted to talk to me about my car warranty: Told him I wasn?t interested and he proceeded to say "How do you know since I haven't told you anything". I then hung up the phone.

Took my car to the NISSAN DEALERSHIP this morning.

Got this call a few hours later.

Coincidence? Maybe. Probably not.
