we have lost our country and now they can do anything. I got a call from this outfit and they tore right into me, Asking "Whats your SS#?" I told them you haven't told me who you are with or even your name and you call me asking for someone I do not know, now you want my SS#?. They kept asking for someone that does not live here, I tried to explain and the person speaking in broken English with a Hispanic accent told me I was lying and then threaten me and asked "Do you know where your children are?" I freaked out hang up and went to my children s school. Who the hell are these New World Nazi's? I tried to complaining to BBB and to Georgia Att. General but nothing ever happened (my word against theirs). These hyaenas are the animals that are taking over and we have already lost our country, Good-luck. I know this sounds crazy but I think there is some ultra low sounds in the back ground, like a subliminal message. Someone is screwing with us (implanting crazy thoughts, maybe impulses). So laugh it up and when your on the wrong end of the stick doing some crazy shiet you shouldn't be doing then just blame it of your prescription drugs, but you know where you herd it first.

Have you determined them as a legitimate business, though? I have been receiving notices from them, and now phone calls at least three times a week. I am hesitant to work with them since the loan they have for me is accurate. But, as many people have said, no one answers when you call them back.

Woman left message on recorder this AM from "Poughkeepsie, NY" advising that I call Patricia at 800-964-5689 and that this was concerning an "old debt" that I do not owe. These debt collector bozos skirt the law when challenged in writing to prove the debt is valid - they simply sell the ancient debt to the bottomless pit of debt collector losers and bottom-feeders.

DON'T CALL THESE BOZOS BACK - anything you do or say to them WILL be used against you.

Jan. 24, 2013, 18:45 EST: Voice message on my mobile phone, whose number I never give out.  "John York" of ICR called from 845-296-1010 (it sounded like a recording) asking me to call 800-964-5689 about a debt.  No more details.

I got a phone message looking for an Edward F*****.  I returned the call to that person at 18009645689 only to say I was not Edward and didn't know an Edward and you have the wrong number.  I was treated so spectacularly rude by this representative that I called back the switchboard operator and asked where their company was located.  I googled the Company, ICR in upstate New York and fired off an e-mail letter to the Customer Service e-mail address about this specific person.  Within 20 minutes of my e-mail I was contacted by the CS Manager, apologized to, told my phone number has been removed from their system and the phone call with me would be pulled from the recordings and action would be taken against her.

First mistake emplyee made was leaving her name on the message.  Second mistake was hanging up on me when I was talking.

Don't take any crap from this company....e-mail your complaints.

These lovely people are in violation of the FDCPA and I'm currently fighting a little battle with them that will most likely end with me in court as the debt they are attempting to collect on is not only invalid, but they've tacked 'collection fees' etc on to the amount.  They've violated the FDCPA on three different accounts with me on the same debt, which, as it seems, will end up with THEM owing ME if I pursue this.

My father got a call today on his mobile phone from "Josh Baker" saying he needed to speak with me very urgently but wouldn't tell him what it was about. I am not in collections and don't have any debt.

I think this is a fishing scam. They're probably getting a list of past or current students (easy if you've attended a state university) who received financial aid or student loans (again, it is definitely possible to obtain this stuff), and then do a search on the parents of these students and call them mimicking a collections agency, trying to scare them into either giving them information (a parent would be likely to just pay it out of frustration) or trying to get the parent to call their son/daughter and urge them to take care of the debt, causing the student/ex-student to go to their COMPLETELY BOGUS website and fill out some personal information. I checked this website and it's something my 12 year old neighbor could create in about an hour.

I talked to a coworker about this tonight and he told me that his wife recently received a "collections notice" in the mail for $9, but she'd never heard of what it was. They called the 800 number and pressed the number to be transferred to the "dispute office" and what do you know?? That number went NOWHERE.

I've been getting a message at LEAST once a week from these people: "This is Ms. Smith.  This is not a sales or solicitation call.  Please call me at 800-964-5689".  Whatever- if they wanted to talk to me that badly, they'd leave more details on my answering machine, like exactly why the hell they're calling me constantly, and from what company.  It's obviously a scam.

My mother got a call from a person named Amber at "Higher Education" who asked for me and asked me to dial this number and extension 311.

I called the number back and got a person right away who said the name of the company was "Immediate Credit Recovery", or "ICR".

We have received 2 calls from "Jim Smith @ ICR". The call is initially automated and then a New York accented guy calling himself Jim Smart comes on. The phone numbers match the numbers above. My daughter does not have outstanding debt.

This "Jim Smart" calls and says he is trying to collect a debt.  He does not say who he is trying to collect the debt from, but he leaves a message saying he's trying to collect a debt

I get a call at least twice a week from Jim Smart, saying he's calling from ICR and this is an attempt to collect a debt.  I owe noone and get no answer when trying to return the call, which comes from 845-296-1010. What is this?

After doing a little investigation of my own, I find that this is a legitimate caller. My daughter does have an outstanding debt from a state school which was given to this collection agency.

I just had the same experience as Raven. I've been out of college since 2000 and never obtained student loans or financial aid (full scholarship). My sister, who has a different last name than me, received the same message as Raven's father.

Do not give out any information to these people, they are scam artists.

Its a collection agency for college loans. Showed up on my caller ID as 845-790-2880. I picked up and the lady provided number to call 1-800-964-5689.

OK, Here we are On a web site talking about ICR. Ms. Smith Is not a real person folks! Now we have Jim Smart, He is not a real person! The collections departments have a auto dialer. all collection companies have a auto dialer. MS, Smith and MR, Smart are fake. Ask for a cease and desist and report the call to the BBB of your state as well as the Atty General. As for help. The law is folks that 1.00 is an attempt per month to clear up debt. I used to work for ICR and what they did not know was that I was also working fore AN ATTY. WHO WAS AND IS BUILDING A CASE!!!!! You may not owe Money, but someone that they have in that data base  does. They will (meaning the collectors)  stop at nothing to obtain payment.

I have gotten three calls from this number asking me to call them back.  I do not owe anyone money.  I seems to be a scam but what if it isn't.  I called the number back from my office and the operator was curt and rude; she wanted me to give her the number the call came in on, i said "no", she said that I should then give her my ss#, I laughed and hung up.
