They are legit but will ask for your social upon an occasion to verify who you are. Of course you should not give it to them though you can give zip code and verify the phone number they called. They admitted calling my number and what it was in reference to.
I received a call while on the line with another party and couldn't answer it. When finished with that call I dialed the number in question, it showed up on my caller ID but no message was left. After going through a ton of automated options I was connected to a live person.
They are a legitimate lender who wanted to verify a rather large purchase I had just made on my Sam's Club Card.
They are GE Credit, an umbrella company under which many large and small businesses buy credit for consumer use. Sam's Club and Care Credit are two of them and I believe I have even had a car loan under them in the past (but not sure).

This is not a SPAM call. It's GE trying to verify fraudulent transactions on your credit card.

same as 2-busy-2
Sam's Club checking a fairly high dollar purchase that I had made earlier that day. Legitimate call, automated, asked things like your 5 digit zip. Nothing that I wouldn't be willing to give out.
It also knew the exact purchase amount that I had just made.
I'd rather go through this than have someone steal my card number.
Thanks, Sam's club

Called this number back as they said they were the fraud department for a credit card used at a store that very same day. He was very hard to understand and he wanted the complete credit card number used for our purchases. I said I would not give the complete number over the phone and he hung up quickly.

This is probably a collection agency. They like to make you THINK that you are a thief, when it is the other way around. I tried googling the number, but couldn't come up with anything.
Suggestion: Go to this website: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/collection-agencies/index.html
Post this number on a new thread and see if any of the Community Members can come up with anything. There are frequent inquiries on this website regarding phantom phone numbers like the one you just got.
Good luck!

Did not answer but do want to find out who it is. Get calls from this number several times a day. I am handycapped and they have hung up by the time I get to the phone. I am in my 70's and addmit that I do not understand what is being said. When I can answer the phone on other calls, I don't understand. They speak to fast and I get the impression they think that I am a thief by the tone of their voice.
