I got the same generic text message from this guy. I responded immediately that it was a scam based on the format and poor grammar. I hope someone can do something about this kind of garbage. Here is the message I received: "I'm interested to buy your (Craigslist Title) - (Price) posted on Craigslist..."

Scammer. He sent a text exactly as Dave posted "I'm interested to buy..." I responded that the camcorder is a cash only sale and must be face-to-face! No replies from him since!

Obvious scam. Texts received:

"I'm interested to buy your ____<craigslist ad title>____."

"It's a birthday gift for my son, He's working with a road constructing company in Africa, i'm unhealthy to pick it up so i will be paying you through PayPal. Send me your PayPal email for payment. I will be paying you the sum of $1,000 USD to cover the cost and shipping to Africa.."

This guy sends me multiple texts at 4:00 am asking for my iPad to be shipped to Africa. Obvious scam.
Here is conversation:

A***ole: "(1/3)Thanks for getting back to me.. It's a birthday gift for my son, (2/3)He?s studying in Africa, i'm unhealthy to pick it up so i will be (3/3)paying you through PayPal. Send me your PayPal email for payment. I will be paying you the sum of $570 USD to cover the cost and"

Me: "Instead of wasting time coming up with an elaborate story, you should take a minute to check what time zone you're scamming."

A***ole: "You're spamming too why will you use an Ontario number in USA"

Me: "Ontario isn't just Canada, genius. How many people actually fall for that b***s***?"


Definitely not a computer. Just an a***ole.

He's still at it... this time trying to scam me out of an iPhone. I'm always suspicious when the person calls the item by the exact heading of my listing (i.e iPhone 4G, white, 16g), rather than it's simple name (iPhone). So I googled him, and found this site. Sneaky fella, hopefully no one has actually fallen for it!

I just received messages today form this guy in Utah who says his son is sick and he wants me to ship my item to Nigeria. He kept asking for my email address for Paypal - thank goodness I googled his phone number! Beware Craigslist sellers.

Just had an attempt from this number this AM for a camera. It ended with me calling him a douche.

Yes, it's a person, it is a scammer from Africa, he wanted me to ship my laptop to Africa for 100 more then my asking price, told him to f*** himself, you will have to be a fool to fall for this guy's scam... his sick son, what a load of crap.

Its defiantly a person and not a computer, I've gotten a number of texts from him/her wanting to scam me out of an item on Craigslist.  I played with him for a few days and then told him I've known he was a scam and I reported him to spoof@paypal and IC3.

Sent a text asking to buy the EXACT title of my listing, mispellings, spacing, capitalization and all. impossible to be a human. also is utah area code, I'm in North Carolina.
