Received this call on my cell phone at 12:07pm.  Didn't answer. I don't know who it was or where it originated from...

I didnt answer but the voicemail was a recording in spanish!  I dont speak spanish.

I also received a call from these guys, I didnt pick up though.

I received a phone call from this number today at 12:07 p.m.  Same time as the above caller.  Strange.  I didn't answer the call.

Wow, I didn't know "Mexican" was a language... must be in the dictionary of ignorant words and phrases that I never read. Also, as someone stated earlier, these calls are coming from South America, not Mexico. Mexico - for those of you who don't know - is a country in North America, where the language spoken is Spanish, not Mexican.

These calls are ridiculous, as I received one today myself. I didn't answer the phone, instead I looked up the number to verify it was spam. It's a shame I have to read such ignorant comments along the way.

They called pretty damn early didnt answer the phone and they didnt leave a message

They do not "get" your cell number or anyone else's. They use automatic dialing computers that will call all numbers in a telephone exchange.

So, if you cell number is 312-555-1212, they will call 555-1210, 1211, 1212, etc. If their computer gets a signal that the number is not in service, then the number is removed from the calling queue. If you answer, or if their computer gets a voice mail, it is programmed to call back.

"You" are not being targeted specifically. And yes, these scam companies are breaking several laws just by placing a call: auto dialing to a cell phone (illegal), not revealing the name of the company and phone number within the first 10 seconds of the call (illegal), and calling a number on the Federal (or state) do-not-call lists (obviously illegal).

What can you do? Perform a web search for "versadebt" and "vp marketing" together. These are affiliated companies owned by the same people, and they are one of the largest telemarketing scammers. You will find a wealth of information on 800notes.com and other websites on how to contact them, and how they can be reported to the proper authorities.

I got a call from this number and didn't answer. I called back and got an automated message saying that the call was travel related and they would call back shortly. They gave an option to remove my number from their list and i did it.

I don't understand Mexican. They need to get a life.

CALLED AGAIN AND AGAIN

got the same call, and i have regiestered my number to not be bother.  someone with some authority should force these idiots to pay a hefty fine for each call they get a complaint about.  that will put there punk a$$es out of business.

To anyone here who is annoyed with these phone calls what you need to do is make sure you register your number to the National Do Not Call List and then make sure to report every call every time you get a call from a solicitor.  The more reports they get the more information they have to do something about it.

The only calls that are not covered by the National Do Not Call List are: political organizations, charities, phone surveyors, and any company that you have established a business relationship with by placing an order through said company or by other means.

Telemarketers are responsible for removing your phone number from their calling lists within 31 days of you registering your number on the DNC List.

The National Do Not Call Registry applies to any plan, program, or campaign to sell goods or services through interstate phone calls. This includes telemarketers who solicit consumers, often on behalf of third party sellers. It also includes sellers who provide, offer to provide, or arrange to provide goods or services to consumers in exchange for payment.

How will the National Do Not Call Registry work?

Starting January 1, 2005, telemarketers and sellers will be required to search the registry at least once every 31 days and drop from their call lists the phone numbers of consumers who have registered. Through December 31, 2004, telemarketers will have to update their lists every three months. The dedicated, fully automated and secure Web site at www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov will provide this information to telemarketers and sellers.

When an organization accesses the system for the first time, it will have to create a profile and provide some identifying information, such as organization name and address, authorized representative, and the representative's telephone number and email address. If an organization is accessing the registry on behalf of a client-seller, the organization may need to identify the client (or clients).

The only consumer information organizations will be able to access from the national registry is a registrant's telephone number. Consumers' phone numbers will be sorted and available by area code. Each organization accessing the registry data will be required to pay an annual fee based on the number of area codes the company accesses.

On subsequent visits to www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov, organizations will be able to download either a complete updated list of numbers from their selected area codes or a more limited list that shows additions or deletions since the last download.

A consumer who receives a telemarketing call despite being on the registry will be able to file a complaint with the FTC, either online or by calling a toll-free number. Violators could be fined up to $11,000 per incident.

I think this is pretty clear and as far as I'm concerned soliciters have no excuse to call people who have taken the time to register.  If companies are wasting their money to buy lists with numbers that are registered on the DNC and call them I personally have no problem filing a complaint and hope they get charged the maximum amout of $11,000 every single time.

i keep getting calls from area codes that are totally unfamiliar to me.  this # was one of them,  i didnt answer

They called my cell 5 times in a matter of 20 minutes while I was in the shower I just looked up on google the area code cause I wanted to know who the heck it was
