This is one reason I hate phones so much. This number has been calling my house for a few weeks now. I don't know where they got my information. I've found out from other boards like this one that the calls can be traced back to Worldmark, which is a timeshare company, and they frequently get your personal info, like income level and home number, through contest entry forms at malls and such...like when you see a "enter here to win this new Jaguar!" type kiosk...I did recently enter such a drawing, but it was to win a car from a dealership right across the street from that mall. A dealership who's owner I know personally and he told me it was a real giveaway to bring people onto his lot for his salesman "sharks" to snag. Still a dirty trick, but standard for the auto industry, and shouldn't have resulted in this company getting my info. Anyway, back to the company. As noted, I've discovered that the calls are coming from Worldmark. They have a timeshare resort right here in my home town. My girlfriend even used to work for their local resort, so I got to know their business well. Though, I never thought they were this slimey and under-handed. If you get a call from them, it's all a scam. You didn't really win money. You didn't really win a new car. You didn't really win a sweet tropical getaway. You're being scammed into buying a timeshare. A timeshare which, after staying in one myself when my girlfriend worked for them, I can tell you isn't even worth thinking about. They're the bottom of the barrel.

YEAH RIGHT! YOU KNOW I KNOW A MULE WHEN I SEE ONE AND YOU AGH A PRETTY HORSE. IN ODER WORDS STOP COVERING FOR THIS SCAM ARTIST. THERE IS NOTHING FREE IN THIS COUNTRY, SO IF I HAVE TO WASTE MONEY, OR ANY VALIUBLE TIME TO CLAIM A PRICE, FORGET IT. I PREFER TO WORK HARD AS HELL AND GET WHAT I WANT, WITH ANY STRINGS ATTACH. WINNING A PRICE MEANS YOU EARNED IT THROUGH HARD WORK, A GREAT TALENT, OR BECAUSE YOU REALLY DESERVE IT. WHEN IT TAKES TO RELY ON "LUCK" THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAT TO SIGN A DOCUMENT TO GET "A PRICE", BECAUSE IN REALITY YOU ARE SIGNING YOUR FREEDOM (TO PRIVACY) TO BE GET SOMETHING FREE! NO THANKS!

I hate this foes who call simply to try to get private information about us simply to play a great scam. I got a similar call this morning and I was like "why the hell I would get a call from this area code?" Specially, when I have no family or relatives in Utha. I picked up and the woman who refuse to identify her self asked for a Jessica. I told her to provide me her information and I would have her call her. I then said I'm her legal adviser and she hanged up. I suggest to sue the f... of her and whom ever she represents for telecommunications harassment, fraudulent activities, and for what I can tell for false advertising a service. I would say a class action lawsuit against her or them. That ough of teach her a damn lesson and any copy-caters.

They are legit -- went down, got my free trip... Not too much presure, the video you watch is pretty cool; I actually might join some day when I have more money... Lifetime membership costs as much as the car, so I will be waiting awhile... I got a $75 dinner certificate to Black Angus... Just wanted others to know it was legit...

That # was 1-866 not 1-266.

Well we to got a call from  Worldmark by Wyndham.... Asking for my boyfriend, when I told the lady "Carissa" he was not home she asked who I was & what our income combined was & then told me he had won a trip for 2 to a few differant places. Mexico, Florida, Vegas, Anaheim or Reno. Sounded great to me I had put our names in a drawing at our local mall, so I thought it was lagit. It was April fools day so he didn't believe me. I called the lady back at 1-266-597-6851. I all out asked her if this had to do with a timeshare, she told me no that they are in no way shape or form affiliated with timeshares. Boy did she tell a lie! I was thinkin he had really won something. So after talkin with a few people I decided to investgate. This site & many more is what I found! Damn those liers! I reallly wanted to go to Vegas this year & my bf is afraid to fly so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. Guess I was wrong! Sorry about all the bad luck everyone has encountered, but thanks to you all I know better...

I filled out a form at the Capitoloa Mall here in Santa Cruz. I've been getting a couple of calls from that number too so after a quick google search I found this post. Obviously the same telemarketers. I'd hope that if you REALLY won they'd send you snail mail since you put that too. I just want the jaguar not a timeshare :P I might answer if they call me when I'm not at work. If they ask questions about income or whatever I don't want to talk about it out loud.

Got a call Oct 13th, 2007 "won a trip to Vegas. Come to 2880 Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose tomorrow Oct 14th at 2 am. Suite 200" When I arrived, there was suite 101 & 102, 201-209. No Suite 200. Called the company back, got an answering machine. Left my name and number asking for a call back, doubt I'll get one. Oh well, what can ya do except report it.

Yep..got a call today.  I filled out a "win a free Lexus" slip at the Auburn Home Show.  I never do that, but I saw it and thought, hey maybe I could win that car.  They said the whole deal about being entered into the grand price drawing for the car.  Then she verified my name, address, single, married, income.  Also I could get free tickets to something, I stoped listening, and I could go to Roseville tomorrow and pick them up, but I had to sit in on some thing for 90 mins.  I said NO THANKS!!!!!!!  I assume I will be getting torchured by the phone calls for the next few weeks.  I better atleast win the car.  :)

We had a little bad connection so I hang up.  She never call back.  After reading all the comments here, YES, IT IS A SCAM. DO NOT ANSWER WHEN THIS NUMBER CALL YOU!!!

Just got off the phone with them.  Worldmark. I'm in the running for a new car, $100K, blah blah.  Come get my free airfare/hotel tickets (which end up costing about $300).  All these timeshare places are struggling for new people and new money.  Bottom line is they'll promise you just about anything to get you to sit through their "90 minute infomercial" then put the screws on you to "buy into" their timeshares, with expensive contracts that are almost impossible to get out of without paying huge penalties. VERY high pressure sales.  AND husband and wife MUST be there, must have enough income, must stay at least 90 minutes.  Here's their website:
http://www.worldmarktheclub.com/
Don't fall for it or you'll lose thousands of dollars.  "Starting at $616 per month?"
Here's what people say who've been through it; they'll tell you what really goes on in those meetings:
http://trendwestwatch.blogspot.com/
Oh- and the "free" tickets?
"You need to pay $50 per person and then fill out a form and send to the address given without a time period. (50 dollars is refundable..is it?!). Then they will (hopefully) send you a reservation package.. There are several harsh regulations.. No trip during weekends, holidays.. Only on Mon, Tues, Wed in between 3-10pm, Then come back by the day after at 7 AM."

Also received call from 801-495-0484, same scenario, had filled form out at Westfield Mall (formerly Valley Fair Mall) in Silicon Valley to win $100K  I am told I have made the final prize drawing by "Spencer" at the Awards center, and I have also won free tickets to Vegas or San Diego, but have to go to a marketing/time share/whatever thing at the firm's offices across from the mall, and I have to make a reservation now to do so or no tickets.  I called the secondary toll free number they provided, they said also they were the awards center, but also provided the company name is http://www.worldmarkbywyndham.com/ , so it is a timeshare marketing push.  I'll go sit for an hour or so to get free airfare since the Wyndham name is at least a known entity. They make themselves seem so slimy though withholding info unless you dig for it.  I would say the awards center is simply a contract for hire call center used by marketeers, and the phone number hence can represent different firms depending on when it is used.
