it appears this number can receive text messages though, I have been sending them requesting more info from the caller - no response yet. Using yahoo messenger from pc to send txt to them, not cell.

They're not doing this because they're losing money.  Some cretins answer and actually BUY the crap they're selling. Best way to handle is simply not to answer, then put the # on your Black List.

The ususal crap? robodialed hangup call, recorded message, rapid-fire business BS message, whatever.

If there IS a voice there, human or recorded, the only thing to do, apparently, is just hang up.  

The problem is, if you're a business, there is the REMOTE possibility that it is a legitimate call.

Don't talk any more than necessary, don't answer any questions, don't say "yes", don't press any numbers, don't call back, etc. - if it's BS hang up as quickly as possible.

Most of these calls can be identified after the first couple of words, or by the caller ID.
Yellow Pages, Business Listing or Directory, Google, etc.  - sound familiar?  Hang up.

They're looking for "live ones" to scam... do your best to play dead.

If these misguided, malformed, miscreant, mutant mother****ers would put half the effort into a legitimate business as they do with this crap they would be as rich as Croesus.  Go figure.
