Some people are saying they are calling them by the fake name they use on Facebook so probably they are using an app you or one of your friends authorized on there.  They possibly want to hack your Yahoo account by getting you to click on a link.  Report the Yahoo ID to Yahoo abuse and the phone number to abuse@textplus.com

I received this text message on 18th November 2012:

6:20 pm - Hey *******

7:25 pm - Who is this?

7:26 pm - Do you use Yahoo Chat?! Cause msg me my username is textieflirter8

7:27 pm - But who may this be?

7:27 pm - Ohh no !! Mi fone s about to die ;(

7:30 pm - How do you know me?

7:37 pm - No thank you have a good one

How and where do they get your phone number?

My wife got a text from this number. It reads:

Them: Hi *****

Response from us: Who is this?

Them: Do you use yahoo chat? text me my id is textchick0

No further communication

Just got a text message saying "hi" from this number.  Asked who it was and reply was asking if I used Yahoo IM and if so contact:  textchick06
When I replied with "don't use Yahoo IM" got an immediate text saying "my fone is dying"

convo went like this:

"hi (my name)"
                     "hello"
"do ya use yahoo chat?!?
cause im me my username is txtieflirt83"
                                     "who is this?"

"ohh no grr my iphone's goin to die :( "
                                    "what is your name"

no text back ince 4pm

I received the same texts, except mine gave the yahoo id 'textgirly618' and was followed by the text "Omg !! Mi Iphone's gonna die :("

I just got a text from them calling me by my business name and then responded with a hello. They responded with "do you use Y! chat?? cause im me my id is textflirty0"

i got a text from this number saying Hello kari... then i called the number and its just some persons texting thing

Received a message on my private phone saying "hello Pearce", no reply when I tried to respond.

completely freaked me out just now who is this?

This number belongs to Level 3 Communications who is an internet provider.  They deliver netflix and "apple inc" music (which I think would be iTunes).  My daughter has accounts for both.  Somewhere along the line I could see how her name could be connected to her cell number.  My worry level is low.

If anyone finds out who this is please post it here.  my teenage daughter got a similar text.  She replied "who is this" but no response.  We are in texas but know a few people in this region of utah.  The account for all our cell phones is in my name.  I have no idea how someone would know her name and phone number.
