They start out with "Unavailable" and wait for you to pick up. That way they know they have a viable number to pass on to other solicitors. It does no good being on the "Do Not Call List" because BRG ignores this list or doesn't subscribe.
Further more, they call two three times a day, and put you on a rotating call list. If you answer, they don't respond and simply hang up. They get your phone number from any company that youve ordered from online. And one that says it won't sell your information at that. Then they call with "Withheld or Unavailble" and you are not able to trace or call back or *anything because they've got a system that allows them to avoid return calls. the second number used is 866-373-9923.  They are out of Provost, Utah. The president is listed as "Luis Carter" probably a fake name. His home address is as follows,
200 NORTH SPRINGVILLE UT 84663-1513----
Here?s a small list of their clients that have passed on your number from some source, maybe you ordered a pizza or flowers? Most likely pizza. Don?t do it again. And let them know why!

And whatever you do, don?t give them your phone number for the do not call list. DO NOT CALL has a CENTRAL REGISTRY and let them know instead. If you put your number down for these creeps guess what? After the way they operate, you really think they won?t sell it somewhere else or to an umbrella operation? Right. Send the FCC a complaint. And put that down when you contact them in place of your phone number. Luis Carter my as-.

Survey
BRG Research ... they really refuse to honor their own internal do not call registry.
They do not seem to understand that this is an invasion of privacy, so perhaps we should remind them.
Don't call them at work, contact them at home.  Most of them are clearly listed in 411.com.

Survey
I worked for Brg. They are legitamate.  I will try to address some issues people have brought up here.  1.  If you are on the " national or your state's do not call list"  this does not exempt you from being called for a few reasons. They are not soliciting or selling anything and they are calling people who are clients or have done business recently with a company who hired Brg to be an independent research firm to collect unbiased opinions about them. Look at the do not call list laws and you will find that if someone calls you to conduct a survey they are exempt from the law. Also if a call center(Brg) is calling on behalf of a company you do or have done business with in the last 3-6 months and they want to do a survey about your experiences as a customer they are exempt.  Brg makes these types of calls only.   Some have complianed about being called a couple times a day for the last week or so and some say they get hung up on.  99.9% of all calls are made by an automatic dialer that dials the numbers for the agents. This ia much more efficient and accurate than manually dialing.  The dialer also queues up more numbers than available agents to have a constant flow of incoming calls. For example if there are 20 agents calling the dialer will call 30 numbers. Once the call is answered it will connect the call to the agent who has been waiting the longest.  You may have noticed a pause after you say hello before an agent says hello when you get calls from companies that use auto dialers. As mentioned before the dialer will dial more numbers than available agents. There are times when more people that answer their phones than there are agents. In this case the dialer will try to connect to an agent for 10 seconds and if none become available it will disconnect the call.  The dialer is programed allow this to happen less than 1% of the time.  The dialer is also programed to recognize answering machines but it is not perfect. It allows some to getcobbected to agents and it can also think a real person is an answering machine.  So if you think someone is out there trying to annoy you and hanging up on you day after day your aggression should not be at any person but at automatic dialer technology.   You can always return the call and leave a message with your number to be places on Brg's internal do not call list. Everyday an actual person listens to the messages.  Calling some of the personal phone numbers others have listed to harass them and annoy them is considered harassment and will be looked into by the law. None of them were the ones who called you and most likely was a college student or recent high school grad that is working at Brg because they work around school schedules. If you think you are justified because you got called by Brg you are wrong. And for those who want the company to go out of business, if you like ruining the income and lives of a bunch of generally young people trying to make ends meet in tough economic times while many of them are working through college then you have more issue in your life than someone calling you.  Try to put a person behind the words you say. It's easy to say things over the phone or internet but there is a person with feelings on the other side of the phone.  As a person who has worked with Brg and has taken many irate and vulgar calls from people, I hope this post helps more people to understand why they are getting calls and why they may not hear someone immediately after they say hello. Also I hope when someone does answer that you inquire about why they are calling and understand it is most likely about a company you do business with. If you are then not interested then just politely ask to be placed on the company do not call list. I also hope people realize they are talking to a real person.

Let's have a contest and see how many of you low life scum bags we can get fired. If you don't want to play, STOP CALLING.

Get your whistles and airhorns, get set, GO GO GO

Too bad we can't reach through the phone and throttle you by the neck, that would solve the problem for good.

That's right.  Because the "Do-Not-Call" list is filled with LOOPHOLES, TIME-PERIODS, and about a million guidelines no one understands or enforces.
There is NO WAY to fight the calls.  NONE.
The ONLY WAY is to fight back- call back the #'s you can reach (ON A PHONECARD, PAYPHONE, ANONYMOUS whatever device).
And then ...... really # with them.  I gave about 5 suggestions on the "call-them-back" technique, 3rd page into the thread.
Remember:  Your point is to make them feel like you feel.  ANGRY.
MAKE THEM SO ANGRY YOU CAN FEEL THEM WANTING TO REACH THRU THE PHONE.
These are residential #'s, the homeowners have to be either involved- or simply informed that their # is being stolen and used.  I, however, would not politely tell Mr. or Mrs. John Q. America that their # is being stolen and used.  I WOULD JUST # WITH THEM.  They get enough calls like that, and betcha they take action quicker than gently saying "I feel you should know . . . "
BS.  LET THEM HAVE IT.

Non-profit Organization
no one at these phone companies goes out of their way to harass you. You just got dealt the short straw.
Simple fact is, more often than not the phones are run by a computer, that pull random numbers out of a data pool supplied by some other company. Sometimes we don't even HAVE a way to pull you out of the system.

I used to do sales for dish network, based on a prerecorded message that told them about some promotion that the callers didn't know anything about. The machine calls you, you answer, the computer tells us you're on the line like a fish in a river, we press a button to pick it up and try to reel you in. I'm not defending the companies, I think it's total b***s***, but it happens. I used to get all kinds of numbers. I vividly remember answering a rest home, an elevator, and us military base, all in one night.

Being obnoxious when you answer isn't going to do anything but get a bunch of lower-middle class teens fired when they start yelling back.

This number has been calling me multiple times a day at the worst times! When I get home from work, when i'm making dinner, when I'm trying to put my kids to bed. A few times, the calls have actually woken up my children. And don't they know it's rude to call during dinner? They could at least have the decency to wait until I'm not cooking a meal or eating with my family. Why don't they get the hint that I don't want to talk to them? If I don't answer the phone the first thirty times, why would you think i'd answer if you keep calling? I bet the san antonio police could keep them from calling.

Call excessivley, most times hang up. When they do speak they say they're calling from the Sunglass Hut. When my husband asked them not to call they said they would not call back but only if he answered some questions. They asked him about sunglasses and his age. Weird.

Also......
I just called (801) 373-9923 which is the main number for BRG Research Services and spoke to their very nice operator Alicia (if you can believe it) and kindly asked to be removed from their calling list.  She stated that it would take 24 to 48 hours to be completely out of their system.
Done deal - that easy....

Got 5 calles in 2 days but did not answer. I called the number and the recording said to be placed on the do not call list, leave a message indicating I want to be removed and include my phone number. I did that and we'll see if they actually take me off thier list of numbers to call.

I have a non-pub number, not in my name, at they called asking for me by name, claiming to be from Directions Research wanting my opinion on pharmacies.   I don't give out my info & I'm on the DNC list.  So, if a pharmacy or medical contact of ANY kind is giving out info, then that would seem to me to be a HIPAA violation.  I will be raising hell with anyone I can about this.  I want to know exacly who is giving out my personal information and why since every place I do business with is under strict NO MARKETING and NO RELEASE of information orders.  The in-your-face and Big Brother mentalities in this world need to STOP!

They have called the office several times in the last couple of days.  I spoke with them first thing this morning, said we do not particpate in surveys, online or over the phone and to please remove the number from their calling list.  Half hour later, someone ELSE from this company called and just kept rambling on and on without allowing me to speak.  I finally yelled to get them to stop talking and told them again stop calling, blah, blah, blah...remove our number blah, blah, blah...then I contacted the owner of the company via email, told him the same thing.  We'll see...
