GOT A UNWANTED TEXT MESSAGE ABOUT MY ONLINE BANKING SERVICES EXPIRING AND TO CALL THIS NUMBER TO RENEW IT, THING IS I DONT USE THE BANK LISTED.

text message received at 8:23pm  9/24/08
Subject: You United Heritage CU account is closed due to unusual activity.call us now at 6126055222

(t was 7:32pm CST when I recieved text msg)

rec'd same txt.  i have no acct.  bogus.

Received the same, no account.  Got the message at around 11AM.

Suspicious.

I received a text message to my Sprint phone at 4:36PM today and a text message to my work pager at 9:41am today. The message (in both instances) appears to be from service@uhcu.org. The message reads as follows:

Subject: UHCU
Dear United Heritage CU member, your online services are expired and need to be renewed, call us at 8018040253.

I do not have an account with uhcu.

Yep, got the same message this morning at 7:53AM PST (my area code is actually in CST - Austin, TX).  I just got off the phone with my service provider, T-Mobile, to report the fraudulent text, but their fraud department doesn't want to have anything to do with it unless the fraud has something to do with a fraudulent T-Mobile account being opened etc.  Disappointing response - that they don't have the ability to blacklist/block such senders.

United Heritage Credit Union is aware of the scam and we are working with XO Communications to have the phone number disconnected.  The number originates from Spanish Fork, Utah.

received the same.  called back number and was promted to give credit card number, which i did not give.  seems to be a fraud.

Got same text message but from john@USSoccerfoundation.org

I called and went through the prompts (dialing *67 first).  I entered a bogus card number beginning with 4 for Visa (followed by all 1s).  The prompts ask for a credit card expiration date and the PIN Number (which you should never provide).  I made it all up and it said "Session successful."  BEWARE.

"Beware of phishing scam related to suspicious text message.
If you receive a suspicious text message informing you that your online services have expired and need to be renewed, please do not respond or call the number given in the text message. This particular text message references 801.804.0253 as the phone number to call in order to continue service. Do not call this number as it is a phishing scam."
