I received a call from them today, 5/17/13. Caller ID said "Unknown Name. Private Number." That was the first tip off. They knew our last name, and then gave me the name of the company and a "complaint number" and said his name was Johnny Bravo, with a thick Indian or Pakistani accent. Ha! He said they were somehow related to Microsoft. When I pressed him about this being a sales call, he assured me it was a service call, and he could help me with my computer problem. He kept trying to get me to go to a computer and he would "guide me through" the process, and I did not have to give him any information. And because he gave me the company name and a complaint number, assured me it was all perfectly legitimate. I kept telling him to email me the information so I could research it, and he kept insisting I go to a computer and let him walk me through something. When he refused for the seventh time to email me something, I hung up on him. I guess he will call back, though... A total high pressure scam!

Yes I too have been contacted from a company called Microtech it was at 8pm telling me I had a serious problem with Errors and Warnings they made me turn on my computer and guided me to show where they were it freaked me a bit, but it was odd because there is nothing wrong with my computer. Lucky for me I use dial up which made it impossible for them to talk to me while I am on the internet, they said it was going to cost me $179.00 to fix it remote I straight away told then I was'nt going to pay anything and they immediately hung up in my ear. Thanks to this site I will hang up in their ear when they try to scam me again!

The guy that called me said his name was Enrique Eglesia. I told him I knew he was a fraud. Didn't give him anything except a hard time. He hung up when I asked him for the last four digits of his social security number.

These guys are relentless & rude.  I got calls from 801-895-4841 from a so-called "Kevin Watson"  I said, "Yeah and I bet you're sitting in New Delhi, too, aren't you?"  I told them to not call here again that I knew it was a scam.  They called again the next day from 206-456-0661 and asked for my husband by name.  The guy had said he was Tim Johnson or some other made up name.  He started to get combative with me verbally when I told him "Windows Operating System Service Center" doesn't even exist.  He said, "Well, if Microsoft Windows doesn't actually exist then how do you think your computer is running?  I told them to take our names off their list and NOT CALL AGAIN.

I had the same call but the number that showed up on my caller ID was 524-324-257 ( not even a real number ). They insisted that I have errors that are "calling" them from my computer and that my CLS ID that they provided me should be enough to prove to me that only me and them had it and they really did work for Microsoft Windows 7. I still did not allow them access and told them I would call Microsoft first. He told me to call back 801-895-4841 and ask for Peter. ( He was from India as well ) When I did a reverse phone number search this number was tied to a cell phone not a business. And just to confirm further I called Microsoft and they verified that WE call them with any issues, they never make a call out. DO NOT ALLOW THEM ACCESS!! THIS IS A SCAM!!

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

I received a call from (801) 895-4841, too.  I had the same experience as John Morison's except that I got off the call before I heard the prices.  The caller was just so nervous speaking to me that I was instantly suspicious.  The man who called siad his name was "Peter Jones."  (Kind of like the TV commercial where the man in the Siberian hut claims to be 'Peggy'!)
