I received a call on 6/21/14, at my place of employment, indicating that they were Chase Bank.....when I answered the call terminated

Got the call right after getting a new phone-same phone #, but different phone. They left a VM, but it was mostly static. Came from UT, but that's all the info I got from White Pages reverse look-up! Pretty sure it was scammers!

I got a call from 801-899-4170 at 2:32pm on 6/21/14.......it called my place of employment and asked for me saying it was Chase Bank....My ears rose a mile in the sky, as I never give my place of employment as a number to contact me at.....I am going to report this to the 877-FTC-HELP and will absolutely call my Bank...for changes....

Fake Chase bank survey!!!! Banks do not call, except if it is some problem with the card, as I know. Please, check this number!

Caller said she was from Chase and wanted to do a survey. I didn't believe it so I hung up on her.

Got this phone call today. Guy stated that he was calling from chase bank and was conducting a survey. I said ok. He then asked if I was "in a secure place to take a brief exam" to which I replied "excuse me??". He repeated the question and I told him that if I needed to be in a secure location to take a survey, I wasnt interested. Then I hung up. Ive never heard of a survey being called an "exam" which is what caused me to do some research. I think this is a scam.

Angela:
I have contacted The Chase fraud department and they assured me it is not a Chase number or Chase Survery. Yes it is a VERY strange coincidence.

This number is believed to belong to a scammer trying to get my bank information. This field is also believed to belong to the persons identified with the Target scandal.

They called; I picked up. There was a beep and I hung up. Glad I didn't wait.

Its funny in the fact that I had an international phone number call me, then not even 30 minutes later this number called me.. I didn't answer, and I never do unless I recognize the number...

Just received a call from this number. I heard a loud beep and just hung up. Good thing I read the comments before anything happened.
AE 2014-06-05 00:42:49 Unknown
I got a call from them today but refused to take their survey and contacted Chase immediately. Chase has confirmed that this number is not in their database. They said DO NOT TAKE THE SURVEY because you will be asked to give up your account info.

I called the branch named by the caller Chase was surveying. It turns out it is a real survey commissioned by Chase. However they are NOT supposed to ask you any personal information questions. They only asked me about my experience there. It is not a scam, just annoying.

(801) 899-4170 has called several times. Caller ID comes up as "Chase Survey". They're blocked now through our OOMA.

I answered this call based on the comments on this site. I was curious to see what they would say. They didn't ask me for any information, just a bunch of survey questions about my experiences with Chase. I have accounts with Chase and I have had to do quite a bit of transactions lately, so I answered all her questions honestly. The survey took less than 10 minutes.
I don't know if it's fake or not, but considering I didn't give out any personal information I don't think it is.

I got a call from the same number today claiming to be a survey conducted on behalf of Chase Bank. The woman on the other end asked me to rate my banking experience from last week on a scale of 1-10 and why I rated it what I did. I didn't give out any other information. Afterward, I called the customer service line on Chase's website and spoke with a representative who said the number was not in Chase's directory. She said she didn't have any information on the call and as long as I didn't give out any personal information then I shouldn't worry. So... am I okay or should I cancel my credit card?

Got a call from this # claiming to be Chase Survey. I hung up & immediately called Chase. Michael from Chase searched the Chase directory & said it was definitely NOT Chase. I have never shopped at Target & don't know how they would know I have a Chase account. Probably just dumb luck. If they call enough people, some of them are bound to bank with Chase.
Joe 2014-05-09 21:08:50 Survey
Missed call from this # two days ago. I do bank with Chase, and made a rare visit to a Chase location about two days before. Either it's a scammer with incredible timing, or is legit.

Doesn't leave a message and usually hangs up before voicemail. Only comes up number, no name or area. WANT THEM TO QUIT CALLING especially if they can't leave a message to identify themselves.
Why me? 2014-05-05 23:21:46 Unknown
This is my second call today from this number. Didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.
Tex 2014-04-22 20:33:29 Unknown
I never answer the phone (unless I absolutely know who is on the other end of the line) and if they don't leave a message why in the world would I need to call the number back, that's just a waste of time considering all the comments I have read about when people do call a number back.

You are partially correct Sylvia. Many are exempt and scammers and scofflaws don't care. However, Telemarketing companies who are registered with the FTC are in fact obligated to purchase and maintain the DNC list every 30 days.
Violations are enforced, usually with a warning the first time, thereafter it is 16K per violation. For the record, the FTC/DNC defines Telemarketers as a Business that uses the telephone to solicit the sale of goods or services.
Therefore, each and every unwanted call does NOT fall under the DNC. If the FTC/DNC acted upon every complaint it would take a UN army of agents and a Multibillion dollar budget to enforce. They do enforce violations by registered businesses simply by pulling their files and picking up a phone. This is why actual violations by Registered telemarketers who are legitimate businesses are rare. Many people classify a telemarketer as any unwanted call. Unless they attempt to sell you goods or services, they are not telemarketing and unless they are a Registered with the FTC telemarketing Business, for which the DNC was established, they will not be pursued by the FTC. Another interesting note, the DNC is not a government Department or entity. It is an operation by the FTC which only collects and maintains a do not call file. The FTC says that the required purchase of this list and monthly updates, by those Registered Telemarketers, pay the cost of operation. Go to the FTC/DNC site and read. It's both interesting and frustrating.

Just an FYI to all. No one has to legally comply with a Do Not Call List request. This list simply lets the caller(s) know that you do not want them to call anymore. They know this, but decide to call anyway. They are not legally bound to comply with the Do Not Call List r e q u e s t.

I got this call and immediately called Chase. All the reports on the site that it was a fraud and a scam had me concerned. The representative from Chase looked into my account and immediately found the note stating that I had indeed been contacted re: a legitimate survey from Chase. He was able to tell me the purpose of the survey and it was exactly in line with what I had been asked on the phone. I understand people's concern with the security breach at Target, but sometimes companies do pursue survey information by phone. I am just glad this is one of those times. As I told the Chase rep, more calls than not these days are illegitimate and at least now I have the peace of mind to know that there is not some scammer out there who knows my first and last name, that I'm a Chase customer, and at which branch my account is located.
(In case anyone cares, this survey was asking for my opinion regarding teller interaction at my home branch in the last week. As I did not enter the branch or use the drive thru, I was not who they were looking for and they let me go without asking for any personal information)
