This actually is AMEX collections. When I left my company, my AMEX account was closed and I received a call from this number about the balance due. He didn't ask me for any account information, only wanted to know when I would make the final payment.
I agree that you should not give out personal information. The only thing I told him was that my company would be making the final payment once they processed my last expense report. I didn't give him any information, no amounts, card numbers, not even my name ... which he already had since he asked to speak to me. If he had requested any information, I would have let him know that I would call AMEX myself.

It is AMERICAN EXPRESS COLLECTIONS. Time to make a payment again ;-)

It is not a scam. I have an AMEX Corp card and one of my expense reports did not process. They called about the past due balance.
I agree with the above posts that say do not give out personal information. They never asked for my account number and were very pleasant. Also as stated in other posts; when in doubt, call the number on the back of the card.

This number is killing me...calling me on Saturday night or Sunday morning...asking for $15 renewal pay for my corporate from previous job, I left that job more than a year ago...I can't even have a peace weekend during my day off.

100% a scam. Said they were trying to collect a $15 renewal fee for an old AMEX corp card. When they asked for my personal info I asked if I could call them back so they just hung up. Started with an Indian sounding guy who passed me over to an american sounding guy who was going to "clear everything up" though he needed a bunch of personal info to square it away. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM

Mr. X and Mr. Y are both shills for this SCAM whose posts are repeated on this thread http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-954-503-2847

When a stranger claims to be your card issuer and wants personal info from you, the correct procedure is to hang up and call your issuer using the number on the back of your card. *NEVER* give out info to a stranger who calls you no matter who the stranger claims to be. Would you believe if I told you I am Henry Paulson, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, and I need your credit card number? Beware of shills on this thread who claim this number does belong to your card issuer -- don't believe them and it's completely irrelevant anyway because you must *NEVER* give your personal info to a stranger who calls you *OR* call him back on a number he gives/leaves you. *ALWAYS* call the number on the back of the card.

This is a scam. I closed my AMEX accounts over 8 years ago. Call the number on your AMEX card and ask them to verify any number before you call back!!!

Called on every number I own, and left messages... but the messages are static interspersed with beeps. Not useful.
