This number keeps calling myself and my family members. Never leave a message and when my grandmother answered the call they mentioned my parents names and my name and said it was a family matter. So i want to know why and how they are calling my family and getting their information. If they leave a message I'll make arrangements with them but that's all.  803 326 1270

Got this call yesterday claiming I had $1200 in debt from college! I've paid off all my debt from college and since then have served in the military and had a secret clearance!! I never could of carried this clearance with that kind of debt, and this also does not show up on my credit!! The guy was so unprofessional and had my blood boiling! I told him to send me proof and let me see what I owed. I told him this was not on my credit, and he said "well that's up to the college" yeah since when? Scum scum scum

I just got a call from this number and since I didn't recognize it, I didn't answer.  If it's for colleges and universities then why the hell are they calling me?  I've been out of school for 20 years and my college was paid for by my grandfather and myself, NOT by student loans.  P****off!

These guys were calling my mother to get my number. She said they were extremely rude and he wouldn't tell her his name or why he was calling. So she didnt give him my number. I don't answer numbers I don't know so I looked in my call log and it turns out they have called me but never leaves a message. I honestly don't want to answer if they are going to be rude...and it looks like they are rude to everyone.

This is an automated service that calls many numbers looking for phones that pick up. Then a representative calls back eventually to follow up. I suggest that you do not pick up a number that you do not know.

The company in Williams and Fudge. They are a legit company, listed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and with an informative website. However, they utilize old debt information and try to obtain clients through continuous cold calling and harassment. Representatives on the phone are trained to verbally push you around and obtain information that they may use transfer debt accounts into their company. DO NOT provide them with any personal information until they establish proof of a current and legitimate debt. Any monies paid to them for an old debt are not required to be paid back to you. If they do not stop contacting you, file a complaint with the BBB, as many others already have done. This will eventually stop the harassment.

My dad got a call from 803 326 1223 and they were asking about me? Seems strange. It seems that all the collection agencies have my number. Why would they call my dad? I always answer my calls. Some guy said he was an attorney named Chris Cane. My student loans are active and I havent defaulted. So why call others and not me?

Your replies to the comments prove how unprofessional you are. I work in customer service and have  to call people all day and settle payment information as well but I would never speak to customers or post on public forums saying "if you folks paid your bills, we wouldn't be calling."

You're very unprofessional and I bet you won't be around for long. Good luck with all that.

} What is your actual right??

I have a right to honest answers. I have a right to fair treatment. You did read the FDCPA, right? Or did you gloss over those pesky federal laws in six minutes on orientation day? By all accounts I won?t get the treatment the law says I deserve from W&F.

} We MUST verify ... if you DO NOT comply, we can not tell you why we are calling

Yes, yes, third party disclosure, privacy rights. I?m not required ... oops, better use all caps for your comprehension .... I?m *NOT REQUIRED* to comply with your inquisition. You want me to pay something, you can send me my G-letter. You want someone else to pay, go piss up a rope. Either way I?ll let my Certified Mail do all my talking, telling you to either prove up or shut up as appropriate.

} Everyone in this thread since 2009 is incorrect in your statements.

WHAAAT? That sentence makes less sense than your months of softsoap shilling. All I did was toss out a few words last summer prompting people to defend their rights, and you blew a cork on topics I never touched.

} If you don't do this for a living then you wouldn't know.

Who really wants your damned job? I don?t need the persecution complex all you fraudulent debt collectors carry around.

} trust me, we didn't buy any debt.

Yes dear, I understand the distinction between hired collectors and debt buyers. Again, last summer I never discussed that. Your legal obligations to consumers don?t change either way.

} Honestly, we are trying to help you.

Paying a stranger on the phone to allegedly settle an unverified debt helps no one but the collector to score a commission and his boss to finance a new SUV.

} Answer your phones

Stow it. I don't take orders from you. I will answer every call on every phone when mystery callers start subsidizing my phone bill. As it is, when I do respond to typical debt collectors, I?m rewarded with excessive call abandonment, self-contradictory ?Foti? messages telling me not to listen, incomprehensible speech, lies and cheap hustle tactics, veiled threats read from a talkoff script, and lack of compliance when I order them to stop calling.

} "but at least try and discuss it with us" .... "At least you answered the phone" ... "at least stay on the ohone [sic] so we can ask a question" ... "All you have to do is call us back" ... "you should answer your phone" ... "at least talk to us"

Seven months you played that same whiny record in this thread. If only we would "verify info", if only we would let you "get the message to the person", you plead, you promise the pain will be over soon. This too, I have heard before. Your kind keeps calling whether I answer or not. You lot will assume I'm hiding something you want no matter how I respond or not respond by phone. This is precisely why I reply in print, so that at least *one of us* will treat the matter like a grownup.

Let's get something straight. I don't work for you. I am not your bike messenger. I owe you no answers. I owe you no money unless you want to quit your passive-aggressive games and send me real proof on real papers with my name on them.

} if you don't like the result of the call, hang up

But you kept scolding us *not to* hang up! Here's what you wrote only eleven weeks prior: "we assume you are hiding and indeed the person we are trying to reach." Damned if I respond, damned if don't? Can't you keep your own policy straight? Don't you worry, if I "don't like the result" of our encounters, you can read all about my displeasure in my summons and complaint.

} (remember your ID # at the school is your SSN) .... we definitley [sic] want to help you and the school you went to!

You assume that everyone protesting your company's bad behavior must have an account in your clutches. I don't need a dog in the race to see when the game is being rigged by known consumer law violators.

Oops...hit send to soon! I wanted to conclude by saying that I will be paying the college I owe so don't bother wasting much effort to get cash out of me...furthermore I am protected by the patriot act, so I am really a time blower. I do advise that you not contact my family or neighbors, you have all of my information and I have the right to make my request. I also request that you not call more than two times, two days a week as this is law, and if you do not plan to leave a lawful message, please do not call at all. Use the skip-tracing techniques you should know and don't bother busy folks who have enough to deal with in their own lives in order to fish for your debtors. let's face the facts a collections position isn't paying us $100k a year and if your life was opened up for us to view...I betcha you have at least one of us aggravating collectors calling you too now don't you!
Finally, people, you DO have rights and laws to protect you.....read up on them and put the bullies in place if you are being harassed or violated. Knowledge is indeed power.

I too am a collections agent and IM going to call it how it really is...
are you collectors going to try to make these folks believe that it is ok to call their neighbors, however we are forbidden to leave a voicemail....b***s*** folks not true. In I contact my debtor and get vm...I say my first name, for whom I am leaving the message, hours to reach me, request they call me asap, and at what number they can reach me. So if you can't give me that same respect when you called again, I will be blocking all numbers associated with your business. That said, I have received your 3 duplicate letters this week....stop killing trees to send the same letter over and over please.

Prank Call
I too have received at least a hundred phone calls from Williams & Fudge.  While it's true that I have a considerable amount of student loan debt, my loans were taken out via the federal government and are current. They were collecting on behalf of the school who I never borrowed a dime from.  The huge amount Fudge claims that I owe the school also showed on my credit report.  I disputed the amount shown on my credit report and it was removed because Fudge couldn't validate the debt.  They still call once every 2-3 weeks.  I probably have some legal recourse but I just let my call blocker handle it.  Most recently their calls have been from a different 803 number out of Rock Hill, SC.

If your credit report shows anything on behalf of Fudge, it wouldn't hurt to dispute it through the credit agency and see what happens. It won't cost you anything.

Also, if they are continually harassing you by phone make sure to report them to DoNotCall[dot]gov.  It takes two minutes to report.  You might have to register your number if you haven't already.  Bear in mind that even when they finally stop calling from one number, they'll start calling from another.  It can be hard to shake them but be persistent.  Also, as others have suggested, if they are calling your cell phone you can use a call blocker.  There are lots of free apps.  The one I use (Mr. Number) allows me to block the entire 803 exchange.

I got call from relative stating that someone called asking for me. We are both unsure as to how they would have gotten the number. Needless to say I called and questioned a Martha for her purpose in calling. She kept trying to get me to give her my info and I did not. But I did get her to tell me that she is with Williams and Forge and they work with schools and universities. So to sum it up they are a debt collection agency for universities and colleges. Deal with your school directly please do not deal with third parties.

If you even engage in conversation with these people you're setting yourself up to
be bothered forever!!!
The more info you give them, the better; then next thing you know, they'll ask for Social Security to
"double check" to make sure you have paid your "debt"~~~~~~etc., etc.
