Hey R, The other response is correct also. The caller is not a policeman, but a volunteer for the National FOP, trying to collect donations. They are supposed to be congenial and polite, and when you refuse, they WILL take you off their list. Should the FOP call and you're not interested, tell them to remove you, they will.

Those aren't cops that call you for the FOP. They are paid solicitors, I know I managed the FOP sales dept for the state of GA some years ago.

They called me today, but I didn't pick up. Caller ID said "Cell Phone SC," which is what it says when anyone I know calls from their SC-registered cell phone, but I don't know anyone upstate/with an 803 phone number. The only 803 calls I get seem to be fundraising calls from the Fraternal Order of Police, and they always come from random numbers. I'm guessing this was them, and they get cops to call from their private lines. Nothing against the FOP, but I don't pledge donations over the phone, and they won't agree to send you info otherwise. Thus they don't get my money.

Finally... a great way to block those annoying unwanted random robot junk/sales calls like those that announce Security or Card Services or Medical Alert calls and the like, some leave a message others do not!!!
Go ?On-line? and check/Google articles concerning <www. NoMoRoBo.com> IT WORKS!!!
We use "Vonage," a VoIP phone service. "Magic Jack" and "Charter?s Phone" currently do not. Our Panasonic Call Blocking Phone is limited to blocking only 30 unwanted calling numbers which must be monitored and updated.
NoMoRoBo's FREE service currently scans a blacklist of 1.2 million known robocallers, providing the same Call Blocking Service!!! Known/listed robocallers come from folks complaints, filed by state and federal regulators.
