I keep getting that same call from 803-847-5638 telling me I've won $500K.  This guy told me his name was Gene Shim and worked for Parker, Hopeland and Associates.  Told me that someone would be at my home on 3/31 with a hand delivered check.  I told him I would believe it when I saw it as I had already fallen for that trick once and ended up paying $3000. to a scammer.  He "assured" me that this was not the case with them and that I had won from Publishing Clearing House....funny thing...that was the same scam that I got suckered for before, the clearing house!  I told him to go ahead send me the money and he told me an senior officer of the firm would be calling me back later that day to discuss all this and needless to say, I haven't heard anything back from them.  Lord knows I could use the money but I want it to be honest about getting it.   If I tried this scam junk, I'd get caught!!!

Prank Call
My mother received this same call from 8038475638, with the same $500,000 story. I heard about this on TV so I was concerned. When I told her Sandy Parker, that I would believe it when the check was in hand we lost connection. It's really sad that people will stoop to this level. God will get them!

This is terrible. I was able to go online during phone call and saw this was a scam but how many people do not and are ripped off.
Shame, shame.

I have also received calls.  Previously from Jamaica, got at least 200 calls over 18 month period.

Got my first calls from this current scam today, 2 calls.  They also hung up after asking name of wife, confirming address and our ages.  I have heard that these numbers they call from actually have reverse charges attached
to your number.

I hace called the FBI about this and they confirm the scam but have no interest in trying to stop them.

Best thing to do is just hang up, but know they will probably call you right back.

Prank Call
I have received these types of calls before...one said they where from Readers Digest and I had a check at the airport security and they need information from me to get the check to the proper authority to have it delivered by courier to us...They then had me to call the CEO of Readers Digest( I was able to call directly to him...lol) after speaking to him ,I was lead to the pres. of Homeland security( I was able to speak directly to him also)...So I starting getting tired of their scam so I asked to speak to Michelle Obama since I t able to reach homeland security ...put my girl on the phone...they hung up...and just a few minutes ago I received a call saying the were a law firm and I won. some clearencehouse mombo gombo  ...again I told them of my last experience..she put me on speaker phone they laugh and she hung up...smh!!!

Prank Call
I got a call this morning saying that I won 500k.  It was from attorney Paul Morgan at Parker.... did not catch all of it.  they schedule a time to deliver the check. at the end of the call they asked how old I was and hung up.  I called the consumer fraud line, they said they will be calling me back before the delivery date to get more information and will not show up at your door. I think we should all sue them for 500k when they catch them.  They also said that they we under the umbrella of Publishers Clearing house.  Also said my ID was required to get the check.

Great work on your part and I am sure everyone appreciate your cleverness. The key is NO ONE OF NO AGE SHOULD EVERY GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION DEALING WITH YOUR FINANCE, ADDRESS AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE CHANCES ARE, IT ISN'T TRUE. CALL A FAMILY MEMBER OR TRUSTED FRIEND, IF SOMEONE CALLS YOU IN A MATTER LIKE THIS PRIOR TO MAKING A MOVE THAT COULD COST YOU YOUR LIVELIHOOD. Good luck to all, we need it in today's time.

Great idea, so what everyone should do is when they receive these kinds of calls, get as much information as possible. Such as [address, phone number, state license #, person name to whom you are speaking to and any other employee identification information] you can mustard out of them. All of this information helps authority or special forces to find people like this. You see, they aren't very smart people, just good liars and a gift to gab and a lack of character.

Anne, I too received a call this morning [03/18/14] 8:45am from (803)847.5638, regarding the winnings for $500,000. I am the untrusting type so I asked for details like the law firm name [Dave Blake & Parker Hopeland and Associate, SC] is what I was given. They claim I entered into the Consumer Clearance house Sweepstakes. He asked me the same questions you mention, and of course I was very guarded, because If I have won something the million questions aren't necessary. Other  than proof that I am who I say I am, he told me someone would be at my door this Thursday morning between 9 - 12, and wanted to know if I live alone, I asked why, he then claim because he had to ask her questions too, when I gave him a yes/no answer he hung up the phone. I try to live the life of a Christian but with butt-holes like these kinds of people it make life really hard to stay loving and compassionate. These people are playing on people compassionate and desire to have a better life, what false hopes. But for those of you out there with your ears on, know this, those that have, aren't giving it away, and those who don't have can't give it away, only steal from those they can pray on. So if someone call, email or simply show up, get their personal identification and make one phone call or if you have a computer, look up their company and verify who they are. If their business doesn't have a street address or a phone number, chances are it's a hoax. We have to help the FBI and other federal agency to identify and catch these kinds of people before they ruin someones life.

I got a call today but he knew my name address etc... listen to him for a minute he said he was with attorney Parker & Hopeland and assoc. . Sumter S.C. . He went on till came to part about my bank acct. told him didnt have one he hung up at that point. Its a scam but he should be reported because they will get money out of some people there going  tell them they haft to send money to get their prize winnings. This is against the law I hope someone nails them. The phone number  is thru verizon not sure whether its a land line or phone, but i could hear many people in background saying some of the same things he was he gave me his name Damian Hart. I hope all this helps in some way

I received a call from the same # 803-847-5638 and I got the same bull about winning $500,000. The guy woke me up and since I enter contests from time to time I listened to what he had to say (He had an accent) He asked me some questions
and I never win anything so I told the guy I will believe it when I see the check and this guy was pretty good after I spoke to him he connected me with some women who gave me some more bull and then it came....I have to pay some money and I told her she would have to take it out of the $500,000 and she hung up ! I feel like an idiot for even listening but I just hope they aren't getting any money from elderly people or anyone for that matter !! They sure spend a lot of time on each call
and they even had my address. Does anyone know if there is someone I can call to report this ??  I hate scammers !!

This number called my grandma this morning said she won 500,000.00 . They said the were a law firm in south carolina and then started asking questions about her marital status, credit cards, and misc demographics. She told them to call back when I was there. When I got on the phone with this guy he started asking me if it was just the two of us here and other stupid questions. When I asked what any of this had to do with winning money and why did he need more than my address to send our "winnings" he thing up. Smarmy to the last second. SCAM SCAM SCAM. They should be ashamed of themselves getting elderly people s hopes up!!! Disgusting.

Called me several times over several days, when I finally answered they started in on the Clearing House scam. First, they claimed to be from a law firm and asked if I had been expecting their call, to which I said no. Then they asked if I was aware of a large cash award that I had won, to which I said no. They also asked if I had entered their sweepstakes, or if I had entered the Publisher's Clearing House sweepstakes, to both of which I said no, then they hung up with no further comment. I think once they realized I was onto them and I wasn't going to start gushing about "my" money, they were getting nowhere and gave up. I wonder what they'd do if I visited them in person...
