this is the fraud dept. at Capital One.  they called me to check on some suspicious charges on my account, which turned out to be legitimately fraudulent.  i do not use this card either and it does not carry a balance, but someone tried to use it incessantly over the holidays and it all turned out to be fraudulent, obviously.

Yep. I called Capital One and my account was flagged for fraud as well, so it took the weird call and me googling this site to figure out to call Capital one. They should update their phone system. Maybe their system was overloaded and the person dialing out put the phone on hold. Maybe it's automated and I did not have the patience to wait.

The best I can tell this call is a fraud. The message was on my home phone and Capitol One didn't have the new number. Also there was no notes or access to my account by anyone at Capitol One in over a year, and NO charges in at least 3 years on both accounts.

I have received 2 calls from this number today not sure what was the purpose as the person never spoke.

This number belongs to Capital One. It's mentioned on their website under "Report a lost or stolen credit card"
