Several weeks ago this number called frequently and I never answered (on the DNC list).  Finally I answered a call as I just before I was to be on a conference call.  They wanted to know if I would be home the next day as they had papers to serve, I asked who the papers were for and they identified my ex-son-in-law.  I said I had no contact wiht him and gave him the city that he lives in and asked them to call back in 20 minutes as my conference call was due.  The call lasted longer than I expected and they never called back.  When I tried to call the number the phone went dead.  Today I tried the number (several times) again and got a voice mail response saying the phone belonged to "Vivian Longinet (?)".  I did not leave a message and will see if they call again.

got a call from this number today. She said it was a process servers and was trying to confirm my name, which I did not. I don't believe she was from a process servers office she sounded very scripted. I never give out any info anyway. Hope that is the last call I get from them. I'm in no mood for over the phone bulling , empty threats.

I'm living for the day I find there address and am able to EMPTY my GLOCK on them. As soon as you call the cops they freak out. Under Law these WEASELS have NO rights so call them ANYTHING you WISH.

I've invited them over to save the wear & Tear on my truck, so I can PAPA CAP into there SNAKE LIKE selves.

Getting word there in PINELLAS PARK off 49th street north in Florida. The Cops don't want the address out there, so these RATS don't run before JUDGEMENT DAY.

Fat chance a cowboy bankruptcy attorney chain has of serving a summons on an overseas fake payday collector, which is just what this sounds like. More on the issue follows:

Their threats are empty and their rude tactics are illegal under Federal law, the FDCPA. Do not argue with them, do not comply with their demands. Show them you know you have rights they are trampling.

Try demanding a mailing address or a full business name. If the caller fudges his answer or you cannot verify it, it's likely a PDL sham. Challenge their horse puckey threats; they often make rude remarks and hang up. As the bullies like to hassle people at workplaces, advise your employers and coworkers these calls are garbage.

The usual response to such a runaway debt collector stateside is to send a cease-comm letter and file suit. If you find a valid US address, please do so. Fierce consumer lawyers will leap at the chance to run such a case on contingency. However, being mostly outside U.S. borders and having no discernable addresses, these particular criminals rarely make it possible for individuals to punish them. Submit complaints to the FTC and attorneys general. The FBI is also taking comments on these hostile thugs. Pester anyone with proper authority until this fraud is investigated and smashed.

800Notes itself is thick with complaints on this issue.

Send word to the FBI via the Internet Crime Complaint Center:

Learn how to exercise your rights as an alleged debtor from the FTC.
The more you know of illegal practices, the faster you will sniff out the fraudsters.

I have received the same phone calls to both my cell phone and house phone.  They ask me to confirm my address to serve me the papers.  I ask them what address do they have and then they switch their story to that's why they have called me...to get my address.  I told them "serve the papers to the address that they have, if they find the person they are looking for  great.  If not I don't know what to tell you."  I'm going to contact my cell phone company to block their phone number.

May be an extortion scam. Scammers use bought/hacked loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.
