Call from Stephan Boyd "WITH the state of Virginia". We have a tax presence in VA so my initial thought was this was tax-related. Number given was 804-422-0324.
When I returned the call, woman answered "GOP". "Stephan" was on another line.
Shame on me for being so stupid. If this were really government related, the first communication would have been via mail.

Received a call, didn't catch the name but he stumbled on what he was calling about referencing Earthlink account.  When I questioned who he was trying to reach he said wrong number and hung up.

Received a call from Derek Hilliard with State of Lousiana. Voicemail cut-off before message was completed.

Received a call from this number.  Said she was Lisa Allen calling from the State of Georgia.

Just received a call from this number. Asked for our CFO by name. She said her name was Louise and she was calling from the Secretary of State for Louisiana. When I said he wasn't available, and asked her why she was calling, she said it was about economic development. Told her it would be one of our subsidiaries that deals with that particular State. I then asked her for some call back information to re-route her call, and she said that she had another call coming in and hung up on me.  Caller ID said 804-422-0329.

Rec'd call asked for boss using or trying to use his last name. Some gal said she was with State of Virginia.  Told her he was out what about voice mail, transferred but she did not leave a message.

Called identified herself as Anne White from State of Ohio.

Caller asked for our owner by his first name, told him he wasn't at this number, he wanted to know if this was our "headquarters" told him it was.  He said he was with the Oklahoma Economic Development team and wanted to talk about our expansion into their area.  He said he normally spoke with the CFO and wanted to know that persons name, I gave it to him and then dropped him into their voice mail.
I think the same guy called the other day but gave me the name of different state, KY or something.

Same call, Dave from the State of Kentucky.  Put it in voicemail.

Rec'd a message from a woman who called herself Christine Ellison from the state offices in Kentucky. Did not provide a reason for the call. Asked me to call her back at a 877 number, caller ID showed 804-422-0329. Did not call back.

I rec'd a msg on voice mail from 804-422-0329. He said he was from State Office of South Carolina. The number he asked to call him back was a different number.  I did not call him back.

Why would the Ohio Business Development Team call from VA. I asked why this was and it seem'd to take her aback. I asked what she needed so I could direct her to the operator with instructions on who to ask for. She wanted the CEO, CFO, or other officers in the company in order to get information about our company business expansion plans. I sent her off to a series of gatekeepers. I doubt she will get any information since she did not even have our CEO's name right. Honestly it seemed like a data mining operation. I had already looked up this site and was already suspect thanks to the previous postings.

I'm in Wisconsin.  I didn't talk to anyone.  Who are these people?

No message.  few seconds of dead air, hang up.

Got a message from this number and the caller said he was David McNeely with the "State offices in Virginia" and to give him a call back on his direct line at 804-42-0322.

He really seems to move around quite a bit

A Marine industry company would know that Richmond has The port of Richmond ??? Our freight forwarder uses that port and the Port of VA in Norfolk

Same guy "Dave", called me from this number again on 3/31/11 and left me another voicemail at my office. However this time, "Dave's" message said he was with the State of Mississippi and left a different number for me to call him back on, yet again the caller ID reflects the above Virginia phone number.  Dave sure gets around!!!  Maybe the next call he will pick a state in-between the last two he used.....say Tennessee???

I got a call from this number today - a woman named Patty Rice with the Charleston (SC) Regional Development Association; she wanted to know if we might need office space in the Charleston area.  The interesting thing was the number above (804 area code) came up on my caller ID, but the number she gave me to call back was 877-411-3416.

Got a message on my office voicemail from this number on 12/08/10.  Caller said his name was Dave Edwards with the State of Kentucky Economic Development Team.  Said they would be visiting the Dallas Fort Worth area in January and wanted to talk to me about expanding operations toward the Kentucky Regional area.  He left a phone number of 800-242-0941 for me to return his call, however, the caller ID history showed the number he called from was 804-422-0329 (Virginia phone number).

VA business dev call. Not too smart tho. We are a marine transportation company and he wants us to have a office in Richmond....which is pretty hard to do since there's NO WATER THERE!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
