I've also been receiving weird phone messages from someone saying to call them back "about a debt".  Freaked me out!!!! Glad I read this... I was suspicious already because they've NEVER sent me a legit Bill via mail.

I think the name they say of the person calling is "Kelly Hales" or something like that... never tried to answer it and deal with 'em, but my hubby wants at 'em!! lol  

I just think if they really needed a debt collected that they would send you something via "snail mail" as well.  Just my .02!!!  Unless/until I receive a LEGIT BILL, I will not respond to this "Kelly Hales".  Ridiculous I have to put up with this ~ I am dealing with an ACTUAL "LEGIT" chronic illness and these calls only bring on stress for me.  I would like to know how to report them if it is not legit.

Wanted to reply that if you have a debt from that long ago (if it's actually legit, which it doesn't seem like it is), you should check the statute of limitations in your state/whatever state you were in. In Oregon, they can't collect if it's been 6 years since the debt originated there.

Got  call today from this #.  When I answered they asked for me with my last name from a previous marriage.  They said I  had an unpaid debt from 1989!  I haven't had that last name since a year before.  When I asked for more information, she argued this was my debt.  When I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said - "just so you know, collections will continue" and hung up on me.

I received a call from 804-952-9959 on my office line on Saturday.  The person who left the call said that her name is Kathy and i need to call her back urgently.  I tried calling the number back, and got a message that said that the number is not taking any calls, but I can leave a message?  I don't know how these people do business, but the message left was rude, and I don't tolerate rudeness.  If they have some legitimate reason to call, they can leave an informational message for me and I will be happy to return their call, until then, I will ignore it.

They called me telling me it was about an unpaid bill and wanted to verify my identity asking for the last 4 digits of my SS#  I refused, then they asked for my address, I refused.  They said they had mailed me a bill already and it was pending collections.  I asked them to send it certified mail as I never received a copy... they said they did not do that and that if I was unwilling they would proceed with collections.  It sounded very suspicious and so I checked online to find it was fraud.

THIS PERSON NAMED KATHY REQUESTING PERSONAL INFO  REGARDING A COLLECTION DEBT NO RESPONSE ON CALL BACK  ASK TO LEAVE A MESSAGE   ........   YEAH RIGHT  NOT BEING FOOLED  BY THIS CLOWN ...............

Yesterday the same happened to me (as to Jim -20Nov07) "They called me wanting to verify my identity asking for the last 4 digits of my SS#  I refused, then they asked for my address, I refused."  I called back and couldn't understand the name of the company.  It was very very strange, as ho does this type of thing except a "STUPID" fraud.

Have gotten several calls from this same number - Never called Kathy back.
I just don't return calls when the caller doesn't leave more than their name and a call back number - They are either telemaketing or phishing

Same story here. Would not give me any information unless I gave it to them. I think.... not so much.

Calls my cell phone but won't leave a message. Glad I don't answer after reading other comments. If it's a legit call, leave me a message and a number where I can reach a real person.

Glad I looked this up.  Seems suspicious to me.  Will block the call.
