got a call today... no message. I'm not calling them back... that would confirm that they got a real phone number. Traced it back to Ventura, California. the home of the porn industry in America. I don't need to talk to those sleazebags.

I heard on the news a few days ago that the do-not-call list is being widely ignored by businesses, and there's absolutely no enforcement. Notifying the phone company and the FCC might be a better idea until they put some teeth into the do-not-call list. I was out of town for a few days last week, and after I got home I checked my phone and this was one of the numbers listed as "Missed Calls". I never heard my phone ring. Might have to check with Tracfone about that. I never check numbers marked "Private"; could be a scammer with call block or something, trying to make me call. You can rest assured that when the economy is down, scammers will come out of the woodwork.

This number just called my cell so I looked it up online. I don't even have any credit cards so this company is obviously some sort of scam. I would love to know who to call to report them.

Just got a call from this "so called" company. When I asked why they were calling me, he said they were affiliated with Bank of America, Citibank and Chase. When I said I did not have cards with any of them, he hung up on me. Scam artist cowards. Would love 10 min in a dark alley with them and my baseball bat...

I just got a phone call from this number, my cell phone said Northern Los Angeles Area. I don't know anyone from this area so I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a message either. So I goggled the phone number to see who called and that is when this blog came up. I recently added my cell phone number to a no call list, I don't ever give out my cell phone number & I don't have any credit cards so I'm not sure how this person got my number. So don't answer it as you can see above comments that this is a solicitor or scammer

Got a call from this number after being on Do Not Call Registry for 7 months. Pressed the option to speak to an agent so I could request they stop calling me, only to be immediately hung up on. I filed a complaint with the Registry and this number called me back within 5 minutes.

the number 805-408*4276 is a robocall from a "credit card consolidation" company in Ventura, CA, and they call both landline and wireless numbers. When I answer, I do not say anything, and after a few seconds, they disconnect.

Called my cell # which is shared with few. My plan gives 'caller reject' as an option. I added it to that list after reading input here from others bothered by this annoyance.
michael 2012-09-17 18:22:48 Unknown
i filed a complaint with the FCC for this number...they have absolutely no business calling my personal cell phone number during business hours. i hope they get what's coming to them.

return call and get busy signal
ilwi 2012-09-09 23:22:54 Unknown
Our answer to the problem is that if we don't recognize the phone number showing on the caller ID we don't answer the phone. If it is someone who has a legitimate reason for trying to contact us, they can leave a message!

Same as the last few... nothing wrong with card, etc... lower rates.. etc...
I guess I'll fill out the complaint thingy on donotcall.gov since it was to my cell phone. My cell phone shows "Northern Los Angeles Area"

This number called my home phone (private number) and left no message nor no number on the display when they called. However, I checked previously called numbers on my phone and wrote down their number, then done some online research. It's a cellular number, customer service, calling from Ventura, CA. That's all the "free" info I could find. I won't waste money on finding out who they are, etic., I just blocked their number.

Just got a call from this number and this guy was claiming to be able to lower my interest rate on my Visa and Mastercards because I had been steadily making my payments for the past 6 months. I asked which card he was talking about and he again said all Visa and Mastercards and kept going through his spiel. I asked AGAIN, "Which card are you talking about specifically" and he again said all Visa and Mastercards. I said, "You are in charge of all Visa and Mastercards?" And he said yes. Then he asked me which card had the highest balance and I said my Capital One card that I JUST opened. He then asked me which card had the highest interest rate and I said it wasn't a Visa or Mastercard, it was my American Express. He then asked me for the expiration date on the card, which I gave to him. He then asked me for the credit card number and I said "I'm not giving you my credit card number over the phone! I don't even know who you are!" He then started to tell me in a patronizing tone that he realized I was a smart, intelligent person and should know that unless I give him the 3 digit security code on the back of my card, that giving him my credit card number wasn't going to do anything -- that no one could do anything without that security code. I told him I still didn't feel comfortable giving out my credit card info over the phone like that and asked why he needed that. He claimed it was so he could look up my balance. I said there's no reason for him to do so and that I did not feel comfortable with this and was not interested, and then I hung up. What kind of freaking scam is this and how stupid do they think people are that they would give them their credit card numbers!??! Ridiculous! ;p

RECEIVED SEVERAL CALLS BUT NEVER ANSWERED.. AFTER READING OTHERS FEEDBACK ABOUT IT IM GLAD THAT I DIDNT, AND CONSIDERING I DONT HAVE ANY CREDIT CARDS THIS WOULD BE A TOTAL LACK OF TIME EVEN IF IT WAS LEGITIMATE.
Amanda 2012-08-27 21:25:28 Unknown
I just received a call from this number and it was a recording on how to lower my interest rate on my credit card to 6.9%, but to hurry because the offer expires soon. I pressed one because I wanted to see what credit card it was. I was connected to a gentlemen who had a very thick accent. I asked what company they were calling from and he kept telling me VISA. I finally got him to tell me it was my BOA (Bank of America) credit card. I told him I do not have a credit card and to remove me from the call list. I was hung up on before I could finish my sentence.

Call my work mobile phone, pre-recorded message said there was nothing wrong with my card but that it was URGENT that I discuss the possibility of a lower interest rate. I hung up immediately. I am 100% certain this is a scam. Please report all calls to fcc.gov and ftc.gov for violating telemarketing laws.
TER 2012-08-27 19:54:39 Unknown
Automated call - offers to "lower my rate" on credit card. NOT a call from my credit card company!
annoyed 2012-08-27 19:42:37 Unknown
I also just received a call from them. The man asked me about my Visa card and I asked which one and that I wanted to specifically know which card. I wanted them to verify my card by listing my address or some other sort of identifying information. The man stated that he was not able to do that and I continued to press about what card he was calling back. He got flustered and hung up. I called back and got the message if I am not longer interested in receiving these calls to please press 2. Which I did. I better not ever get a call back because I am on the national do no call list and will file a complaint with whomever will listen, either state or federal.
