I rec'd a call from this number on my cell phone as well but don't owe Countrywide any money but do have a mortgage through them.  It makes me anxious that maybe they have not rec'd my payments and I'm going to lose my home.  Are these calls legitimate in the sense that they have accurate information about my account of is it just a telemarketer making you feel scared so you will call them back?

here is my experience with this problem: I'd been getting the same calls from this number, but do not have a loan w/ countrywide. I did, however, just get a new phone number and suspected the number was tied to countrywide thru the previous owner.

I called a bunch of numbers to try to get in touch w/ them. Most were as annoying as trying to use the suggested call back number...

I finally had luck w/ 800-669-6607, the number listed for Countrywide's "National Homeownership Retention Program." I pressed "0" thru all the prompts, and eventually was speaking w/ a surprisingly helpful lady. I explained that I didn't have a loan, but got a new number, and she was able to find the number in their system, listed under the previous phone owner's name (I get tons of calls for him, but thats a different story!). She removed the number from his account and placed a "do not call" hold on the number in their system.

SOOO. Fingers crossed on whether this will work or not. Probably won't help if you actually DO owe money, but for those that do not have business w/ Countrywide, maybe it will help...

It is Countrywide's Home Retention Team.  They are "legit"  as legit as Countrywide can be.  They call all the time after your payment due date & before your late date.  I make what is called a payment arrangement each month so the mortgage is transferred out of my account on the day I specify, before it is late.  I have spoken with these people several times & they don't seem to be getting the same information that the main customer service gets.  Then they just "make a note to the account" that I have a scheduled payment.  Do I need to add that I hate countrywide?  I get letter's thanking me for my payment, then another asking me if I am military, then another offering relief if I need it, etc-every single month...What a waste!

Definately Countrywide, Home Retention Team, whatever that means. I don't know why it comes up as:
T Comstock
316 CANYON CREST DR
SIMI VALLEY, CA 93065
(805) 955-9739
Maybe a mask because this is a business and this address above is a home address in Simi Valley. Private street and private home.

I received this call, asked if I was the homeowner, I pressed one, because I am, it asked for my zip code, which said was not right, then asked me to call back 1-800-604-8630.  Which I did, it really was Countrywide, which I do have a home loan through and when I talked to the representative, she said she didn't know why I received the call.  Said she would document that I received a call.

I have received several autimated messages from this #, CountryWide.  I return the call and no one seems to know why I got the call. I live alone, I never had countrywide financial what ever. No one in the family deals with countrywide either. Like I said, they don't even know why a message was left for me when I return the call.  They call several times a day....Now they call several times a day but don't leave any messages.  It is harrassment.... I would like to file a harrassment complaint if this continues.

It is Countrywide Finance. Odd thing is, I rent and live with my husband. We have no outstanding debts. Thomas Comstock from Countrywide asks for a "Danny" or "Daniel." Apparently, our crime now is not knowing or living with anyone by that name. Countrywide is bent on calling until they find a Danny at our phone number. We're David and Barbara, first names only. I'm a disabled RN, and plan to look into harassment laws of the disabled.  The calls come in from 2/day to 4x/ or more, and start as early as 8:40 a.m.  With multiple serious health problems, it has caused a great deal of stress.

On average, my husband spends 2 hours per day calling Countrywide, time out of his work day, taking names, and letting them know, once again, they have the wrong folks. He gets transfered to the "head honcho" in Texas, who apologizes profusely, states it must be a mistake, it will be fixed, and not happen in the future. It happens again, the next morning, mid-day, twice per afternoon, and in the evening. It is beginning to give me nightmares.

It is interesting they want you to offer nonexistent "account numbers," letting you know your social security number "will do". Still, they ask your first and last name, want your street address, and your social security number. It makes me wonder if they are in the Identity Theft business? They won't give out more than their first name. Hopefully, no one reading this gives personal information other than a first name.

I was able to Google this fellow by phone number. A free site called address.com was free and helpful. I wonder if our caller would like his family's privacy taken? Well, his age is 53, his address is 316 Canyon Crest Dr., Simi Valley, CA 93065. I have the name of his spouse, children, and several relatives, but don't feel the need to list them. I wonder if this would make him feel personally violated? Perhaps they shall be revealed.

The phone number he hounds me from on a daily basis provided an address, it will be easier to serve court papers for harassment. He's been told many times he is disturbing, often waking, a disabled woman. Checking his home address, information is freely given that 35 names & locations of sex offenders are in the area.

Here we are, paying the price for some idiot who either gave a false phone number (which Countrywide cannot discover), a secretary, or perhaps even Thomas J. Comstock transposed the phone number when entering it into the computer.
