someone named susan called offering an interview for a job I never applied for.  American business something or other.  Stated it was outside sales...no info available on the net or BBB.  Phone number is listed out of FL, yet I am 3 states away....  Uber Fishy!

My case is very similar except i received an e-mail from a Mark Burns offering me a position for outside sales and marketing EXECUTIVE? In this e-mail he tells me how much he liked my resume and asks me to schedule an interview on Tuesday, Feb 8th at 2pm. First of all, i've never even been a manager, yet you're offering me an executive position?    COME ON!   It says SCAM all over.

Second, after seeing how this unprofessional and ignorant person by the name of Susan attempts to defend this company by disrespecting others further tells me with what kind of people we're dealing with.

P.S   I found Mark Burns is a cheating rapist at Rip-off Report's website and that they do not tell
you that they will pay you by loaning you money and charging you a 1.25% interest.
Although i can not verify the accuracy of this information, Susan's actions and other people's
experiences with this company lead me to conclude they are truly a scam.

I got a call from a different number from Longmont, CO. The gentleman that called, Ron Smith, said he was from America's Business Benefits. The address he gave for the interview is 1715 Ironhorse Dr Suite 210, Longmont, CO. The phone number I received, however, is (720)514-0339.

I don't know if "Susan" is still actively reading this site, but it is clear that these solicitations from her company are coming across as spam or scam.  I got an email from "Mark Burns" of "ABBA."  Evidently, "Out of the hundreds of resumes I have reviewed for consideration, only a few meet our requirements and for that reason, I would like to offer you an opportunity to interview with us."  Mr. Burns never addresses me by name, nor does he say what it is about my resume that caught his attention, nor does he say what his company actually does.  The "Confidential" written across the top of the email is another red flag.  It has the misguided tone of secrecy found in many Nigerian scam letters.  I'm supposed to call "Susan" to confirm my interview.  I did not realize I could confirm an interview I never set up in the first place.

Finally, this "Susan" keeps responding derogatorily in this thread, thereby alienating the very people whose resumes--out of the HUNDREDS pored over by these people--are spectacular matches for whatever telephone bank she has lined up for us.

I suggest this company change their recruiting tactics; come clean about the nature of the business from the outset, the very first contact no matter what venue that is; and try being a little nicer on Web sites such as this.  The insolent attitude is not furthering your cause, unless your goal is to repel potential employees.  Good luck at the top of that pyramid.  The higher the pyramid gets, the further you'll fall to the ground when the base support has moved on.

My experience is identical to PS67's. I did the same thing, hopped online and googled after getting a phone call at 8pm in the middle of dinner with friends. We all came to the same consensus: must be a scam if they're calling outside business hours.

This board, and "Susan's" responses to criticism both on the phone and on here just further the notion that the "business opportunity" is less than reputable.

I got a call from the same woman tonight.  Googled the number as the whole thing sounded suspicious.  Now, I don't pretend to know everything, but I spent a good amount of time in the job market as I had moved cities a couple years ago.  Humbly, allow me to point some things out.

1. No reputable company calls you after business hours.
2. No reputable company comes onto message boards some of these to argue with people using online names.  They have better things to do than troll websites for people bashing them.
3. No reputable company will hang up on you if you're not interested.  They will wish you luck, if for no other reason that it is the professional thing to do.

Anybody ever contacted the BBB or the job websites to report these people?

I got this number from an e-mail and admit I did not call, but suspected a scam. Since "Susan" was so concerned about her business that she posted a number of rude, unprofessional replies at this very website, I now know my  suspicions were correct. Thank you for the offer, but I'm very happy at Disney honestly flipping burgers while I earn an honest wage. Furthermore, shame on you all for tarnishing the ABBA name with your spiteful business.

Whomever you are, ABBA is not a scam.  We all keep long hours and work very hard. Oh, BTW, it's spelled 'piece' when you're talking about portions.  It's probably a good thing you didn't want to interview.

If you dont know how to realize that they just don't want to work for YOU, maybe you should either change your attitude or maybe they need a new recruiter. And by the way, hanging up on someone that says that aren't interested in your offer is not a very professional way to handle a call. If you aren't a SCAM , then why don't you argue with facts instead of calling people names like a 2 year old.

I just received a call from a Susan and she said almost verbatim what the other people have written here.  I also thought is was suspicious to receive a call on a Sat. regarding an interview.  I had to play the VM over and over because she said it so fast that I couldn't tell what the last part of the company title was.  She also sounded very irritated to be leaving the message in the first place.  Glad I looked the number up first.  Don't call back!

I most definitely agree with this statement, however, responding to messages posted on a website that serves as a resourceful tool to people like myself does not give me the impression that your professional skills have been developed.

I too have received an email, and would love to be considered for a job, but your remarks to others on this site has definitely swayed me not to be interviewed as I respect others' opinions and would greatly appreciate the same in any working environment.

Hint of advice....you ought to try proving others wrong, not provide evidence that you are indeed disrespectful and rude, which I'd like to think is not the case.

If you do not want to interview for this position why did you schedule to do so?  My emails are stopped by strong spam blockers.  If you would have called and told me this I would have given you the address and a link to our website.  I called, but you are too rude to confirm to even say you do not want to come in, so please stay home, twiddle your thumbs a few months more and keep job hunting.  Good luck with your future!

Message left by "Susan" at American Business Benefits on my cell phone. She said she saw my resume and has a position available for an outside sales position in New Tampa. She said to call back for an interview, up until 9:30pm.

I got this call as well from Susan.

Your darn right it sounds fishy. Who would say
"You can call me until 9:30 p.m on Saturday night?"

...and just the name alone "American Business Benefits"   If it's legit, I bet it's some dorky
financial advisor or insurance salesman job.

yep, same story here only I actually spoke to her, she said basically the same things to me only I'm supposed to be receiving an email giving detailed directions to the office where the interview is (she said to check my spam folder if I don't receive the email). Yeah, she called me at 9 pm on a Wed night and can receive calls any day until 9:30 pm except Sunday. My interview is Monday at 10 am and she's supposed to give me a confirmation call Saturday. Does sound suspicious...

I just rec'd a call from a Susan at American Business something or other on my cell...she left a message saying that she had seen my resume online and she wanted to interview me for a sales account manager position in Boynton Beach, FL, she also stated that she could be reached at that # until 9:30 pm. I was also suspicious of this- if I didn't apply for it, I don't go for unsolicited job interviews. Also, leaving a message at 7 pm onm a Sat nite is highly suspect in my book.

I received the same message.  Funny a business should call on a Saturday night, saying call back until 930 pm est.  Could this company be the America's Business Benefits Association (an insurance company) or someone just using a similar name? I did call back the number at 9am Monday morning to investigate.  There was a voice message which just said "please leave a message... beep"  nothing else!  Likely this "company" high pressure sells to the elderly.  Great citizens.

Got a call on my cell phone from "Susan" at this number and she left a voice message about a job interview with a company named American Business Benefits in Temple Terrace, FL.  She requested a call back up until 9:30PM.  I did a quick internet search for the phone number and business reference.  BOTH do NOT exist.  Suspecting a SCAM, I never returned the call.
