received a call @6:58 person with a heavy Indian accent on the other end said something about law suit but I had nothing to worry about. I told him I couldn't understand a thing he was saying and when he could speak to me in English he could call me back. I doubt he will call again. Blocking the call.

I just received a call asking for Tracy.  I asked who was calling & she quick said name & company.  I couldn't understand her.  I told her she had the wrong number.  She said "ARE YOU SURE?"  I said Yes.  Really!
I call the number back from a work phone.  It's an educational school place.  I guess trying to get people enrolled.  They can't say it's a debt collector.  My father paid for my schooling more than 25 years ago, without loans &/or financial aid.  
I hope this helps for anyone else that gets a call from them.

I haven't bothered to answer this number yet, I always Invesrigate strange numbers, usually through this site. I find it odd that I had just 2 days ago spoken with someone from College Finder... Who, on my behalf, contacted 3 universities and signing me up for info via phone and email. The schism are aggravating enough with their fanatic robo-calls.... Now this number suddenly pops up and Is harassing me? I think maybe College finder should be flagged as a potential t hreat as well... Not to mention the girl I spoke with said she was inNC but when i looked up the number, They were based in illinois.

I too have encountered this number. But intsead of a call I recieved my google verification number from this number, when the text number should only be a 5digit number.???? I'm dealing with an ex-landlord. Who claims to be a rabbi. All info found on him shows hr's a con a fraud and has spent alot of time in prison. plus has been hacking my phone since I moved is very good he with pc/hacking when I lived in his aparments illegal I should add he networked my pc to israeli security servie and his office pc/which at I thought it was spy on me and later found he is suspected credit and bank account scams much like you all are talking about in these posts

Today I received this weird phone call from an indiana man stating he was from a legal investigation unit. He said my social security number and name was a attached to a lawsuit for check fraud has anyone eles had this issue

their just scamming you ask for Raymond hoffman over and over aghin  when they ask who you are tell thel them you are Jack Martinez or chistina white   white don verify who you are this will drive them crazy .... these guys are Indians scammers using fear to get your information and take you money

I got a call from a lady named Christina White .She said that she was from the Legal Investigation Department and there is an investigation against my social security number and either I should call right away or have my lawyer call.I am so sick & tired of getting these calls from these people all the time.they are even calling my work place .Someone needs to stop these people.

These guys should be locked up! They call and harass people at all hours of the day and night and of you do answer, they hang up on you. None of them speak clear english and are not educated on laws. First off a lawsuit is a civil matter so you wont be arrested for a pending lawsuit. These people need to be stopped!

They have been calling my work and I work for a collection agency and all calls are recorded in or out.

They say they will have me arrested and I have a lawsuit filed against me.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:
