I thought I was put on a "no call" list. I'm assuming that doesn't apply to texts : (

@Fed UP with Texts: your caller was cgiefxa@yourbahamasvaca.net ? if you go to "www.yourbahamasvaca.net," you get a website that's been flagged by Google for phishing: "the activity of defrauding an online account holder of financial information by posing as a legitimate company" ? in case anyone reading is unclear about the term "phishing." :P
If the associated website has been flagged for phishing, then you can bet the call/text is clearly more of the same (not that anyone was fooled). Come together, people! Report these incidents to your mobile carrier, and even to the FCC if your carrier is apathetic. This goes beyond just typical spam, guys, these pricks are trying to get any/all information they can, so they can take advantage of you in any way possible. They don't care and they would bury you if they thought it would benefit them in some way. Get mad. Fight back. It only takes a moment to make a call to your carrier. Just dial 611 from your mobile.

Really tired of crap like this. Got a text message from a Gmail account: "spbova35@gmail.com" saying (verbatim):
"You've won 2 vacation tickets 1(813).515-1794"
There's no way in hell I'd call the number ? I'm certain it's a company or a very annoying individual conducting some sort of mass mobile number verification to build a calling list through brute force attack (texting: 616-111-1111, then texting: 616-111-1112, etc. and then tracking responses/calls ? only using software, you can go as fast as your bandwidth allows ? if you test 10MIL numbers and get 1% response, that's ). I've seen an increase in similar tactics over the last year and it really bothers me. I can't attest to what happens if you call the number, but my recommendation would be to ignore the text. Trust me, you didn't win anything...

Interesting that 815 is an Illinois area code but 813 is Florida.
Ridiculous email name!

Things to believe:
* There ain't no such thing as a free lunch (TANSTAFL)
* If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
* You have not won big bucks from an unknown benefactor or a grant from the government
* The tooth fairy really does not exist
* Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
* It is illegal to pay money for a loan, BEFORE getting the loan!
* "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
* Microsoft did NOT call you to fix your computer.
* The moon is not made of green cheese.
* The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
* Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
* If you "green dot" or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
