I missed this call.

I received my call today 5/20/09 at 1:52 P.M. EST saying they wanted to lower my Visa rate to 6.5%.  I asked them what my account number was and the man on the other end said he did not know.  He asked me if my balance was over $3000, I said no I don't even have a Visa card.  Although the call showed a Tampa area code, the man was of India decent.

I think they were going to try to get me to transfer any credit card balances to their card because I had a good credit rating.  He did mention Bank of America, so perhaps they are the ones that are behind the calls.

This number and about 8 different extensions are part of a cheesy, sleezy telemarketing company that takes on various "charities" and other contracts to collect money.  They may claim to be from collecting money for policeman, fireman, cancer institutes, etc.etc. but what they are really doing is fulfilling a contract with any fly-by-night organization that calls itself a charity.  They give very little of the money they collect over to the organization (less than 10%) and unless they've reached a specified "minimum" amount, they need give nothing.  Furthermore, the "charity" may not even be in your county, state or country.  Money collected for fireman, for example, may go to India or Pakistan.  It's all a big scam.  This company is in Tampa and hopefully, with all the complaints being made, will be investigated.  They operate on the edge of legality and are nothing but unethical, despicable creatures!

They call three times today.  Got the same company call today or the same name of the lady. They told me they where trying to get a hold of  (xxxx) I ask them why and they told me it was a private mater. She ask if i know them I say never heard of them. I ask for them to spell her name and then she tells me it's the house next store to mine.  She gives me their address. I ask why not look it up in the phone book she said there is none.  Very strange. she said she will block my number if I want.  So I will not get any more calls.  We will see.

Same thing, got call, man said he was from Police Benevolent Association, told him to leave me alone, then I called the number, got Candy Laughridge who gave  me Beth Cornish, assistant manager, who said  she will remove me from list. By the way, the other name is spelled Laughridge, not Lawrife.

Okay, I did some more tracing of this outfit as promised...they are affiliated with Tax Exemp World, which very proudly says on their website that they have assests of $4,312,612,544,932 yes, that's over 4 TRILLION!!! and they have an income of  $3,093,313,352,543  yes that's over 3 TRILLION!!! Now, unless they are math idiots and don't know how to place decimal points, they are taking in TRILLIONS of dollars by calling you, the hapless patsies, and making a KILLING! Now you know who is calling you and playing the silent game....do you know how to spell "instant download"???  Stay tuned, I will continue to report on these jerks...p.s. no doubt sooner or later there will be a posting here by someone in defense of this "organization"....could that person be "affiliated" with Tax Exempt World???  We'll see...

Okay, received 8th call today from this number; again, no one there when I picked up...called them back on my computer voip phone so they wouldn't know who I was, got a lady named Candy Lawrife, who said they were "Organizational Developement Company" out of Tampa, Florida, which is a "charitable" organization...????  Told her I was making a recording of the call and to stop calling me and take me off the list. I threatened her with a lawsuit, then hung up...she seemed very nervous when I said my complaint call was being recorded...I then gave her my real phone number and name...p.s. I Googled this outfits name, but no clear record, trace or leads exist, only vague references....so I suspect that this "charitable organization" is a front for something else...BEWARE OF SILENT PHONE CALLS...THEY CAN CARRY VERY HIGH FREQUENCY COMPUTER CODE (DSL, BROADBAND, ETC.) WHICH YOU WILL NOT HEAR AND CAN INSTANTLY (2.5 SECONDS) DOWNLOAD A PROGRAM INTO YOUR COMPUTER IF YOUR COMPUTER IS TURNED ON AND CONNECTED TO YOUR PHONE LINE...THIS IS A GROWING PROBLEM THAT HAS NOT, REPEAT, NOT BEEN SOLVED YET AND THERE IS NO KNOWN FIRE WALL THAT CAN PREVENT THE DOWNLOAD...ONLY METHOD IS TO NOT PICK UP CALLS FROM UNKNOWN PERSONS OR "COMPANIES." Stay tuned, I will monitor this "outfit" for my own personal record and for the FTC report which I am constructing...

Got 2 calls today .....Neither time did anyone say anything when I answered.  ANNOYING  to say the least.

They called me today and there was silence on the line.  I said Hello clearly 3x and waited.  They finally hung up, saying nothing.
