my mother got a call from them stating that she had a credit card debit and there was a warrant out for her arrest.  she was worried about it and also had to take a nitro from it.  She paid them 1200.00, then they kept calling her stating that she owed more to close the account.  she informed them that she was not sending anymore money and informed them that she called the attorney general's office in pa and they are now stating they will return the money back to her.  everyone beware.

This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/phantom-debt-co ... 16512428&page=1

http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2012/08/bgm.shtm

In the meantime, you are going to have to do whatever you can to protect yourself. That includes letting them know they are running a scam and are reporting them to the authorities.

I just got the same call on my work and cell phone...then called both #'s at the same time and called my work line twice at the same time (I have multiple lines to call into (same #). Claimed to be calling from a law firm. I told them I googled the # and it comes up SCAM. If I have any debt that I owe then their "client" can mail me something validating the debt. he said he would mail me something. I said OH NO! it will NOT come from you. I will only accept something from the original debtor and trust me genius I keep a list of ALL my debtors so your scam is not going to pull any wool over my eyes. He promptly hung up.

SCAM!!!!!!

Think very carefully before you apply for a payday loan online.  It's a very dangerous and unregulated way to get money and it can come back and bite you hard. The way it works is this. There are dozens of payday loan affiliates that take your information and send it to all of the lenders and affiliates on their list.

The problem is, it's not hard to become a payday loan affiliate.  Scammers do it and then they are sent all of your sensitive information when you apply for a payday loan. They get your name, social security number, checking account number, home phone, work phone, etc etc.  Whatever you put on your original application is sent out over the Internet to all of the payday loan affiliates that are associated with the site you apply to.

Think about that before you apply online.  Your information is scattered everywhere and that's how the scammers get it. Then they call and act like attorneys or law enforcement claiming you're going to get in legal trouble if you don't pay them. It doesn't matter whether you get a loan or not.  Your information goes out to everyone on their list and the calls start.

Don't do it!! Find some other way to get the money you need. Use a local payday loan company in a brick and mortar facility if you have to but don't give out your information online. If the scammers aren't getting the information they need there's no way they can rip anyone off.

They just tried to convince me that I was being sued and the police were on the way to my work (where they called me).  I listened and then told them that I was aware that this was a complete and total scam and that if they tried to call me again, I would call the police.

In my opinion, you should not use Broadway Moving and Storage as a moving company (http://www.broadwaymovingandstorage.com). I used them and really regret it. You should just use a different mover. Not only does it seem that they are more expensive per pound then most places but about half of my furniture was damaged in the move. They also gave me a different quote over the phone and failed to get the shipment to me on time. This part would not have been so bad if they had just called to let me know what was going on but once they got my money it seems that they did not care. Besides the pricing issue and the damaged furniture, they clearly cared only about the money. Broadway moving is part of Allied (allied.com), who only refunded us a fraction of the value of the damaged furniture. Just use someone else and save yourself the hassle.

Keep getting calls from someone with a very heavy accent saying his name is David Williams and that I need to call or have my attorney call and if I don't, he wishes me good luck as the situation unfolds on me. I know it's a scam, they say they'll have you arrested for failing to pay back a payday loan which is impossible. If you question them, they become very rude and start swearing at you and will hang up on you. It's a very annoying, very stupid attempt to get money.

I received a message from 814-289-8208 threatening me if I do not call back right away that "things will unfold on me".  He called my work phone number and has such a strong accent I could barely make out any of it.  He said that if I do not call right away there would be nothing he could do to help me and I would go to jail. I do not owe anyone any money, but had recently applied for an online payday loan.

I believe this number is being used as a scam to try to attempt to gain access to your information and take money from you account.  They female voice claiming to be Jane Smith (really) has a foreign accent.  There is a threat to say if you don't call "this second" things will unfold on you.  NOT RETURNING THIS CALL.
