I just received a call and it is a number related to Coudersport, PA.  Small area so more than likely there is no large business of this nature located there.  These numbers are scams.  I would never pick up the phone.  The number they were calling from is 814 320-3421.

I have been called all  day every day several times a day from this number from a person called Steve Allan with the same thing that I owe money for a loan and was going to be arrested , my job was going to be called and they will put me in jail . The other number is from these same a..... holes 646-381970, 630-489 - 9156. This is Normans number who said he was informing me of a civil suit against me for a pay day loan. And he would connect me to Steve Allen if I wanted to settle this debt. I can not tell you how many times a day they have called me and harassed me . They keep calling on different numbers or restricted numbers , unavailable . So I have let them talk and leave messages now I am going to the General Attorney and FBI and who ever else I can go to so they are reported and hope they get locked up .Of course they were from the middle east -accent . Please dont be fooled by these scammers as I almost did believe them until someone told me of these sites and to check the number out. Do not give them any of your information please because they will take your money!!

I called the number back and spoke to a guy named Daniel and my boyfriend told him that we researched the number and if they call again they will be reported to the police. Daniels response was "f*** off" and he hung up. That right there verifies that it's not a real company. If so many people report to the police they will take action so report as much as you can

His name was John and he was very rude and demanding he doesn't scare me as I see that I'm not the only one. I hope they get caught. I will not give them any information. I received the exact same thing.  He was indian and said he was from a law firm and his client had paid me $300-$400 on 11-23-11 and I never paid it back even though they tried to collect it.  He said I would receive a summons in the mail and have to prove it in court.  I never rec'd any money, which I can prove, and am grateful for these complaints on line because it was very upsetting.  They also took pennies out of my account and then the $30 processing fee, but I did call and complain and finally rec'd my $30 back.  They also called me at work as well as home.  There was also loud noises in the background and he was very hard to understand and I kept telling him I couldn't understand him.  I also told him if I was being sued I wanted the documents mailed to me and I hadn't rec'd anything.

This place called me today.  I'm not one to take this kind of thing to heart, instead I have fun with them.  I gave them no information and said my "lawyer"  actually my cat, since I gave them her name advised me to verify NO information.  Asked them to send me everything in writing.  I played a long while sitting looking at this page and reading up on them pissing them off at every turn when they would try to verify my information.  I eventually broke and told them that i knew all about them, I was recording the call, and would be passing it along to the attorney general.  At this point they got very angry and started calling me trash... I let the recording roll and told them to shove it up his (racial slur directed at middle eastern people) a**.  He threatened, to find me and come make me suck his ****.  I laughed and told him I'd have my magnifying glass ready.  Also told him my husband is military and enjoys blowing up bits of his country.  Apparently that was too far with all the racial slurs and he said "I'll f*** Obama in the a**, f*** his mom, and blow you house bi***,"  Thank you.  I'm contacting the Attorney General, FBI, and Homeland Security... hope you like orange jumpsuits.  He hung up on me... I proceeded to call him back and ask how he liked someone annoying him making his telephone ring for asinine reason.  I must have called back about 30 times just to annoy the hell out of him.  I've got too much time and too much mean on my hands

Which I never got, but they say that I received the money and they are waiting for me to pay them back! ooookkkk! I never got money from anyone, I got a second job and that's how I resolved my hardship! So I'm having my lawyer take a look at this with Th BBB (Better Business Bureau). The guy never told me the name of the company he works for or who "I got the loan from" BS. I am filling a complaint because they called my job at 7am, not cool.

My wife just got off the phone with this guy, Michael, and he had all my information up t date. He even had the name of my employer and tried to say the pay day loan had been done last year with my employers name. . Sad, but I had only been working with my employer for 3 months when we got this call. He actually hung up on her the first time we called back and then he proceede to argue with her and tell her that I was hiding something from her. What a way to ruin a guy's evening at home with his wife and baby. Hope and pray that someone does something about this cause this company is ruining people's days and causing emotional stress where it isn't needed. If you get a call from these people, PLEASE REPORT THEM!!! They caused an argument between me and my wife and we'd hadn't argued in a long time. Not to mention she was so upset that we actually went up tp my work to look at transactions from the last two years. Do not let these people get away with this!

One leg of this extortion scam was shut down several weeks ago:

Even scam artists are outsourcing. On Tuesday in its first crackdown on fraudulent telemarketing in South Asia, the Federal Trade Commission announced that it was shutting down two California-based companies that used a call center in India to defraud Americans out of more than $5 million over the past two years.

Workers in India made threatening calls to Americans getting them to pay money on debts that they didn't owe, the FTC charges. At an FTC press conference in Chicago on Tuesday, fraud victim JanLaree DeJulius explained that she had received a call from someone claiming to be an enforcement officer from the (phony) "Federal Department of Crime and Prevention," who threatened to have her arrested and have her wages garnished if she didn't pay a bill of more than $730. The scam artists had gotten her name and information from a payday loan her ex-husband had taken out in her name.

"It was very embarrassing," Dejulius said. "He knew everything about me so I agreed to set up an installment." She is not alone. According to the FTC, more than 8 million calls were made since 2010 and at least 17,000 transactions processed across the United States related to the global scam.

On Tuesday under request from the FTC, a U.S. District Court in Chicago stopped the international operation, charging Varang K. Thaker and two companies he owned, American Credit Crunchers, LLC, and an affiliate Ebeeze, LLC, with violating the FTC Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

"This is a brazen operation based on pure fraud, and the FTC is committed to shutting it down," said David Vladeck, director of the FTC's consumer protection bureau. "Consumers should not be pressured into paying debt they don't remember owing. Legitimate debt collectors must provide consumers with both written information about the debt, and instructions for protecting themselves if they don't think they owe the debt."

According to the FTC's charges, Thaker used Social Security numbers and bank account numbers obtained from payday lenders to identify the victims for his scam. He outsourced the work to an Indian call center, where workers made threatening calls to American consumers to pay fake debt or collect on bills for which they were not authorized.

Thaker was not available when contacted by telephone on Tuesday. A woman who claimed to be Thaker's older sister and asked not to be named for privacy reasons said he is working with the FTC to help the Indian government pursue the fraudster call center operators. She also said he was innocent in the scam. "He was being used by somebody. He didn't even know where they got the information," she told The Huffington Post by phone. She said that her brother got 10 percent of the earnings from the scam operation.

The FTC charges against Thaker are the latest in a series of police actions by the government agency to put an end to rogue debt collection operations that have become more frequent in the aftermath of the Great Recession. In January, the FTC struck a $2.5-million settlement with debt-buying company Asset Acceptance, LLC, charging that the company had falsely represented itself to customers, including making up phantom debts that customers no longer owed. Last October, the FTC filed a complaint against seven other fraudulent debt collectors, alleging that they had engaged in the same techniques -- demanding money from customers who owed nothing at all.

The growing number of Americans who are unable to pay their bills has meant there are more companies looking to profit from their economic difficulties.

Debt collectors have been taking more aggressive tactics as fewer people are able to make ends meet or are in a cycle of debt. More than 30 million Americans are in debt collection, according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Since 2010, more than 4,000 complaints have been filed with the FTC and state attorneys general about fraudulent debt collection calls, the FTC said.

Charles Junitkka, a personal bankruptcy attorney who represents clients in the New York City area, said, "In the last few years, the desperation of the collectors and their efforts have intensified because of the economy."

This story has been updated to reflect comment from a woman who says she is the sister of Varang Thaker. Thaker himself was unavailable for comment.

OK ...this is the second time they have called me.  I did take out some payday loans several months ago.  I knew that I had paid them all off, but this guy made me second guess myself.  He called me at my work and said that he was from some fraud proventention company and said that I had one payday loan from US Cash advance in default and they were going to have me arrested and the case sent to the AG office.  They wanted me to pay over $500 and to give them my debit card # and security code on the back of it and to fax in a letter to them to confirm the payment agreement.  I almost fell for it.  I asked them to send me the info in the mail and he got really hateful.

Now over two months have passed my phone starts ringing at 7:30 am and I hang up twice  back to back and (answer the call the third time because Im pissed)  and this India guy and said he was from the Credit Bureau of Investigations and he said do you know you that you have an "illegal law suit against you" and I said.....YEP and he sounded shocked and said "You Do?!?! and I hung up.
