Got a call from a foreign speaking man named David Martin calling from a law firm.  Called my work number from 2 different numbers listed as payphone calls.  Gave this number to call him back and if I didn't my lawyer needed to call him back becasue it was critial.  He complained about getting my voice mail mess.  JERK.  Really don't know what he wants but we had gone around with this last year at this time also.  Good way to cause someone to lose a job.

I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM A FOREIGN SPEAKING MAN WHO LEFT A MESSAGE ON MY PHONE THREATENING ME THAT IF I DONT CALL THIS NUMBER BACK HE FEEL SORRY FOR ME AND I WILL BE ARRESTED. THIS IS THE THIRD ATTEMPT THAT THESE IDIOTS HAVE MADE TRYING TO GET ME TO PAY MONEY TO THEM FROM A COMPANY I NEVER HEARD OF. IT IS A SHAME THAT WHEN YOU SUBMIT INFORMATION ON THE COMPUTER AND THEY TELL YOU THAT THE WEBSITE IS SECURE, IDIOTS LIKE THESE COMPUTER HACKERS CAN STEAL OUR INFORMATION.

I've received calls from these scammers before.  The way it works is that they are in India and they have one person here in the US who is routing their calls to call us and then they try to scam money from you.  It's crazy what you can do with a lie and a magic jack phone line these days.  The first time it happened to me I called local law enforcement and they laughed, not at me, but at the lie I was told.  First of all the cops don't care if you have debt and if you didn't pay back a loan you would receive a formal subpoena from that company to appear in court.  I did just receive a call today and I called the guy back and basically put my religion on the shelf while I cut him down a few notches. They're scum sucking @$$holes who should be shot in the knees.  Don't stress if they call you, in fact go ahead and blast an angry reply into your phone.  They have no legal action that they can take for something you're not responsible for.

I have been harassed by these people for months now. They always use the same script. I have saved some of the messages and have listened to them a few times. Each time they say the EXACT same thing in the message just give me a different name. It has been mostly 'Alex Ferguson" and "Samuel Bishop". He wont tell me what it is or anything just that my lawyer needs to contact him. Then he called my job and when I answered he started his script I told him not to call my work anymore, he then asked to speak to my manager and said he would provide her with the specifics. Really/ My so called issue would not have anything to do with her, it would be me. They wont tell me anything but will tell my boss. I told him to F@!$ off!

I keep getting repeated phone calls from a man named Tom Brown stating that if I don't respond to his phone call I will suffer great financial problems. I can't understand most of the message due to his heavy Indian accent but I was humored because of the name he went by.

Received a call from this number saying I had an outstanding payday loan and threatened me with legal action.  Says my state has warrants out for me and they need to speak to my lawyer.  When I asked for details of course they couldn't give me any.  Says it is from Payday Cash and that they loan under numerous names.  He proceeded to give me my detailed infor - SS#, address, etc.  He told me if I would just pay the account I would receive an email showing the account was paid in full.  Yeah, right!  I told him to not call me again and hung up.  He called 3 more times right in a row.

I too received a call from an "Alex" claiming to be an attorney from Morgans & Associates.  He stated he was calling regarding a pay day loan I defaulted on.  I told him I was already in a debt settlement program and I asked which company he was calling on behalf of.  He would not tell me which exact company, but did say the parent company was USA Fast Cash.  I told him that my debt settlement company is already working on my behalf.  He then said he was never contacted by them so I probably didn't included this pay day loan in my settlement.  I told him I know exactly what creditors I have and all have been included in my settlement so he can speak to my representative regarding this issue.  He proceeded to say that my debt settlement company cannot help me at this point- only an attorney can because a lawsuit was being built against me for banking violations and check fraud.  He said that if I didn't take care of the matter by 2pm CST today, then there was a possibility that local attorneys and investigators will be coming to my place of residence and/or employment.  He suggested I hire a criminal attorney or else this will be handed over to the local courts.  To make a long story short... he wanted me to settle this by making a one-time payment and then I would receive by mail, affidavits showing I was completely paid off and would no longer be bothered.  I told him I would contact him back as soon as I spoke with my debt settlement counselor, which I did and was told that this was a bunch of BS and not to worry.  After, reading the other posts above, I think I will be contacting Mr. Alex again sooner than later!

I've been receiving calls from this number also from a gentleman name Bradley Smith.  My attorney advised me to never answer his calls.  Finally left me a message stating that he needed my address to forward important legal documents to me that have been filed against me.  That I was in big trouble.  This time time number was a PA area code last month I received calls from California with the same message from Harry Henry.  My attorney said it was a scam.  If you owe money to anyone they will write you a letter or call you first.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

?Notify your banking institutions.
?Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
?Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
?File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

?Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
?Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
?Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
?Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
?Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
?When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements

I also got a call from this "Alex Ferguson" stating that legal action was going to be taken against me for a payday loan I never got. I got him to tell me who he represents and he told me Morgan & Associates in Philadelphia. He refused to send me any documentation about this debt which he stated was in default for 3 weeks. Because I apparently applid for the loan on Jan. 3rd. What company does anyone know of that stalks after you after 3 weeks? A Google search showed that the only company in Philly by that name is an architectural firm. Another search shows that there are only 3 Fergusons in the area that are lawyers, none named Alex. The only prominent Alex Ferguson was arrested in July 2010 on Federal Gun & Drug charges. I called the service that was supposed to give me the loan, CashNet USA. They have no record of me even applying and had me file a complaint with their fraud department.

This some scum of the earth trying to take advantage of hard working people! Be careful everyone and never let them pressure you to settle anything over the phone!
