fake "your car warranty is going to expire"
Even after stringing them along that we need to call them back because the car has some mechanical issues they wont give a call-back number.

Crooks. Bastards. Jerks. etc...
A recorded message was played warning me that my recent car purchase warranty is about to expire. Pressed one or two can't remember and I spoke to a lady, who told me that their database spited out my phone number But needed my personal details... I played her and went along...
Then I said that I have 4 cars... and which one are they calling about? she said the last one that you purchased... I said Aah that's the Bentley... she asked what year and I said 2006... she looked something up on her pc terminal then she apologized and said that my number will be removed from their data base... I doubt it...

I received the call a few min. ago. Let it go to the VM - they hung up.
Scared to go though the removal process as I did this a few weeks ago on the 1-800-391-9421 and I've been getting bombed with calls from all kinds of 1-800's and others. I think they may have sent my number to a larger pain in the a** list. I've added my numbers to the Canadian Do Not Call list but it's looking like most of these calls are generated from the U.S.
I tried to add my number to the U.S. Do Not Call list but it will not accept Canadian area codes.
Not sure where to go from here

Call was personally picked up (Answered) by me.
Line was "Live"... Nobody spoke from the Caller's end, even after I repeatedly said: "Hello" approximately three (3) times, then disconnected the Call (Hung Up).
NOTE: Since the Canadian "Do Not Call List" (DNCL) became effective this month (October 2008), the amount of "800" series Phone Calls (Incoming) has been dramatically reduced... the peace and quiet is great with the exception of a few probing nuisance Calls like this!

I too received a call today, similar to that of smilin47 and Kate. My only concern is when I pushed "1" to speak to someone that I didn't trigger some scam to doop me of some long distance charges for someone in some other country. I should have know better than pursuing it and just hung up. Thank goodness for our National Do Not Call list which goes into effect in November. It will minimize some of these nuisance calls but unfortunately it won't block calls from the USA.

I received one of these calls just now and thought about pressing 1 but pressed 2 instead and there was dead air.  I tried pressing 1 after that and nothing happened.  After about 30 seconds, the call went to a fast-busy signal.

A friend of ours has been getting repeated phone calls from 815-418-2020, informing her that her warranty on the car would expire if she did not act. Luckily for her, she asked for time to think about it, before she would give them any info. She recently lost her husband and is obviously distressed and concerned. On her behalf, I called the dealer and the car maker's head office. Both tell me that this is a fraudulent call and she should not give any information to the callers, as they are out to rip her off.
Later, I too received the call and pressed "1" to speak to an attendant. As soon as one answered, I scolded him for making such calls, as both my number and our friend's number is on Canada's national don't call list. The agent did not stay on the line, but hung up immediately. We will see, if they got the message or if they will call again.

Similar to all the above comments. But I've put in a complaint to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). I recommend others do likewise.

After an automated message stating my car warranty was about to expire, a women with a southern US accent came on the line asking me for my name and the vehicle details.  I told her I have several vehicles and could she be more specific.  She said the last vehicle that I bought.  When I asked her what car company she was representing, she immediately became rude and said she was taking me off the list and hung up.

Also got a call this morning. It said the it was the second message they were leaving regarding our car warranty that was expiring. That they would not contact us again regarding this matter and the warranty would expire. TO press one to talk to someone regarding this issue. I usually don't even press any number, but because my daughter bought a car recently I did. In a few seconds the call was disconnected. It sounds like some sort of telemarketing or scam, but I was a bit concerned because of my daughter's car, so  I decided to search.
Unfortunately this is the only site where I found something about this number and all I can learn is that  other people got a similar call. I was hopping to find out where it comes from.
Well so far doesn't look legitimate.

I just received a call, telling me that it was my second notification to extend the warranty on my vehicle which had just expired.  I pressed 1 to speak with an agent.  I was asked to answer some questions to "protect my privacy".  I asked to which vehicle this call was concerning, but the man on the other end could not answer that.  He said I would later be transferred.  I told him that he sounded American, and asked if he was calling from the States.  He told me that he did not see what that had to do with anything.  I replied that, as our vehicles are all Canadian-made, and that our policies are Canadian, I found it odd that I was getting a call from the States.  He said he just worked at a call center, but again I asked if was in the States, making the call.  At this point, he said he would remove my number from his list, and he hung up.

These people do not provide information about their company.  They seem very shady. Spoke to a Mark who was reluctant to transfer to the supervisor.  And, Stella, the self proclaimed supervisor would not provide any info about the company either.  Funny, they talk about warranty renewal and I don't even have a car! LOL.

Got a call this evening and pressed 1 to speak to a rep.  When the man came on after about 3 minutes waiting, he started asking questions "to protect my privacy".  The first question was "what is your name?". I answered that but when he asked for the year & make of my vehicle, I suggested since they are offering to extend the warranty perhaps he should be identifying my vehicle to me. I asked him the name of the company & he answered "Extended Warranty". I told him that I purchased the warranty from the auto dealer at the time of vehicle purchase & he said it was just the factory warranty. I told him it was the extended warranty available through the dealer. He said "oh", apologized for calling then said he'd put me on the Do Not Call list and hung up.  Any dummy knows you have to tell them your number to get put on Do Not Call and they are supposed to give you a registration number when they put you on that list. Here is the link to a website called "Extended Warranty"  http://www.extendedwarranty.com/
