Below is the email I received from a "James White" stating my "new employment" w/ ironically, a valid company (after some research) but clearly, not a valid representative. These scammers are getting closer to home, they deem you as "customer service specialists", present more reasonable means of pay, and never ask for ss information which is the most telltale sign. Basically, its understood that if you don't think you qualify for a job, or can't remember applying for the one you're being contacted for, its fake. I wish making money were that easy and I could make "$250" an assignment just evaluation people on customer service and shop. Thank you everyone for the feedback, you are the reason I know these things! Google first, think later, lol.

This is a scam. Matthew Johnson is not a real person. Do not even bother responding to emails or texts.

I applied for a customer service job advertised on CL and wound up getting an email from "Matthew Johnson" describing this classic check bouncing scam. Totally bogus, what a POS and waste of my time.

I don't think so. Secret Shoppers are not asked to "evaluate" money wiring services in their local area.

This scam is SO old. No one knows how old it is! The idea is to send you a check. You deposit it. You use a wire transfer service (cash). The check bounces. You are out of pocket for the money you wired, plus the cost of a bounced check. It can take 4 - 6 weeks for a check to clear. Yes, even in the 21st century.

The guy calling and texting is supposed to work for a company which hires Secret Shoppers from www.retailsactive.com.
He is responsible for recruiting people and mailing checks via USPS to evaluate money wiring services in your local area.

I recently was exposed to this scam, thankfully I was realized it was a scam before I was actually "scammed". I believe my emails to this company as well as the check and or checks that I'm going to receive are evidence that could prove beneficial to catching the culprits.
Please email me with information so i can submit this evidence to the proper authorities

Person or persons at this number claim to represent high tech accounting services and hire you to do accounts payable work for them. Business is conducted by e-mail (recruitmmd@yahoo.com). They provide you with check writing software and both USPS and FedEx accounts to write and ship what they claim are retirement or investment checks. Make no mistake, the checks are phony and the shipping accounts are hacked. If you are "Working" for these people, contact the US Postal Inspector and turn yourself in, you are committing a federal felony with every envelope you ship. Postal inspectors will be knocking on your door eventually anyway. I speak from experience, as I was sucked into this scam and am now dealing with both the Postal Service and the IRS
