Its a private law firm. Information's hard to get at least for me. I asked them to prove it i was sent a validation letter i felt all the info checked out and I payed because i knew i still had the loan out. Since then I've had no problems. I don't think its a scam. Wouldn't they have asked for more money?

Debt Collector
Received a call today from this number (she actually called twice and left one message). The caller ID shows the caller was Katherine ethri. Her message was for someone named Debbie Reynolds. There is no Debbie Reynolds at this number. She was obviously a black woman by the sound of her voice. She demanded that Debbie call her back because she is apparently in big trouble. She ended the call with 'Goot-luck'.  Based on the previous comments here, it is mostlikely a scam. Her number goes right to my reject list. If she calls back she'll be told she is REJECTED.

Thank you for the information, but I know for sure they are a fraud company. My identity was stolen when I was 16 and the lady took my birth certificate and Social Security Card and got and ID with my name and information but her picture. She lived as me for several years taking out loans, living in apartments under my name and taking out advances from multiple places. I actually sued the this company that this "Law Firm" is claiming they obtained the debt from. I knew I would have to battle these companies because it was placed in collections because of course for non payment after recieving the loan. This claim is just bouncing around and I used to get mad but now I tell them to do whatever they claim they are going to do because I know nothing will come of it but empty threats. This company is a DEBT COLLECTOR and can not do nothing to you, so don't pay them or entertain them, just block their number or entertain them as I do.
Hope this helps.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I must have striked a nerve by this post because the same women contacted me back threatening to put my number on blast, real professional. I said go ahead!!! Calling me over something that happen years ago and is handled. I offered to call the advance place with her and she declined. So if she worked for a real company that was liable they would actually learn to do their research and contact the company and see things were handled with the actually company! Like others mentioned, find a better way to make money. This company is a for sure SCAM!!! Call my attorney!

I also recieved a call from the same number on 12/10/12 stating that i had given out a fraud check to a payday advance company and they were going to issue a warrant for my arrest. I called back and a woman told me that i needed to pay this amount or the issue would be sent over to the "fraud check division." Then, today another lady called from that part of the company stating that she was an investigator and me or my attorney would need to contact them by the end of the day or the warrant would be sent over to my state. Almost 100% positive this a sham.
