We get a call from this company a couple times a year. I?ve never been spoken to rudely, but it is most definitely a sales call. A couple of times they have stated that the call was in regards to our legal posting posters here in our office. I have had them try to ?scare? me into thinking that they are out of date and need to be replaced. That quickly stopped when I told them that our firm deals entirely with employment law and that our legal posting are up to date and if they had any questions, they would need to speak with our human resources manager in our corporate office. Now the callers just identify themselves by name, ask for our managing partner and say it?s in regards to a ?business matter.? I?ve asked if they would like to leave a voicemail and they say they?ll call back, other times I have put them on hold and just ?forgot? about them.

He just tried to call my cell phone. I have no idea how he got the cell phone number. There was no voicemail left. The caller ID was Fort Worth, Tx. I tried to call him back. I get a message that says, "Due to network difficulties, your call cannot be completed."
Only then did I google the number and find this site. He must be having some success somewhere or else the calls would not continue.
Not here. Not today.

Came to this website to figure out who had left a strange voicemail from this number on caller ID and "Knowles Publishing" on caller ID as well. Twenty second voicemail as follows: "Hello? ...... [papers rustling] ...... Hello? ......... [papers rustling] ...... [five seconds of silence, then click]" I am assuming that while out of the office, someone who dealt with one of these idiots determined that I was the boss (because I was out of the office) and dumped them into my voicemail. What a dumb way to run a sales business targeting attorneys with products.

Well, he's back - must've learned a lesson from you because he wasn't particularly rude but I could tell right away he was no one our guy knew - despite his attempted ploy to state otherwise. Same guy - same name - Stu Rowland (I thought he initially stated his name as Stuart so I when I confirmed his name as such - "Only my mother calls me that" - guess he's trying to temper his rudeness with an attempt at comedy). He was in a rush to get off the line after I stated the attorney he was asking for was not available and asked if I could leave his number. I asked him to please spell his last name because he was talking so fast and sounded like he had marbles in his mouth. "I hope he remembers me..." my lcd shows Knowles as the id underneath his number which is the same 817 984 6707. I might have entertained him longer on the phone if there was any chance he's related to Beyonce! (NOT)
I find this website and posts from others very helpful in identifying legitimate callers. Thanks.
| Stu Roland strikes again! 2012-05-31 21:21:36 Unknown |
Same as some of the other posts--Man identifying himself as "Stu Roland" asked for the business owner by name (pretty easy, since the business name is her name). When I asked what this was about, he said he has spoken with her before (but in fact he has not). I said I still needed to know what he was calling about. He said she'll remember (she doesn't). When I asked him the name of his company, he just went through his routine again. He said he'll call back--which I sincerely hope he doesn't! Who would ever do business with someone who presents himself like that?

Rather pleasant woman named Ruth called, overly friendly. Asked to speak to the owner by name, when told he wasn't in she asked for another manager when I said Owner handled that she says "Handles what?" and hung up. Amusingly ditzy.

Received a call at my business office from "Stu Roland." And yes, he was rude. I wouldn't put him through to my boss without his telling me what it was regarding. I asked him twice what it was concerning. He said, "Stu Roland would like to speak to him." I told him my boss didn't know the name and I wouldn't be putting me through to him. He said, "Just tell him Stu Roland called and I WILL be calling him back." Whatever, dude.

Rc'd a call from this number. Guy said he was Ed Davis. Of course when I wouldn't, and won't, pass his call along, he did not leave a number. Obviously was a solicitation.

Got a call from this number today, 12/1/11. I did not answer but there was a message. No one said anything on the message but I could hear other people talking in the back (like a telemarketing office) and the lady in the background was saying, "yes, but we need to verify that to make sure you made the transaction." Total scam. Can we report this?!

Guy named Weston? called our firm asking for our managing partner (wrong first name). He was nice enough I guess but when I put him on hold to see if the boss knew him he hung up...

Seeing like these people need a new approach because I have just had the same problem. I guess the woman thought that if she made me angry enough I would transfer her. Guess again - I hung up.

Okay I just took a phone call from a "Stu Roland" at this number who was so rude! He was really rude and angry and kepr trying to bypass my questions to get transferred to my boss. When I said "May I ask who is calling", his response was "You can ask anything you'd like" followed by silence, after I managed to get his name, I asked where he was calling from and he said "My desk". It was like the entire purpose of the phone call was to anger me. Well, he's definitely not getting through now that I know it's a spammer!

Woman called asking for the previous HR Director by name. When I said there was no one by that name here, she said something very fast to the effect of "Oh, that's OK, I used to talk to her all the time, but I can talk to the new person... who is that?" So I asked what it was regarding, to which she replied, very irritated, "We're the company up here by Dallas that handles your legal something-or-another... now WHO IS THE HR DIRECTOR?!?" Her rage almost made me giggle. Did she think she was scaring me? :) I think they are one of those companies that tries to trick you into buying their State and Federal Labor law posters or something by telling you that you HAVE to buy them and that if you don't YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW, I've dealt with them before. So I said that I knew who she wanted to speak to, but I wasn't sure if she was available, so would she mind leaving her number... then she cut me off with a bunch of loud excuses that I didn't even make, like she was saying it for someone else's benefit, something like "OH, I GUESS YOU CAN'T CHECK FOR ME? OH, I GUESS IT'S CLOSE TO LUNCH, HUH?" At that point I couldn't control my laughter, she was so outrageously and obviously annoyed at her own sales pitch, I think I said OK before I hung up on her. It might be kind of sick, but I think I will have some fun with her when she tries again... MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
