To Exhausted: the number is, indeed, an EasyTel forwading number. It is the Caller-ID display for all clients that call or send messages. EasyTel is just an independent "universal office" and provides toll-free numbers/answering service/fax/voicemai/pager/ etc. and is not affiliated with any telemarketing company. Clients with an EasyTel account can also set up parameters to have the system call them at any series of phone numbers when a call for their own business comes in - aka a "follow me" service. It is possible that someone with an account has changed their number without changing their EasyTel setting, and you recently acquired the number. It is also possible that someone was trying to send someone else a message, but simply entered the wrong number - only trouble here is that the system does what it is supposed to do and calls until the party is reached. I suggest calling their customer service number (877-EasyTel (877-327-9835). They are extremely helpful and should be able to fix it. You can also try them at their e-mail: service@geniehelp.net.

I get a call from this number and it just sounds like someone is working and crumpling paper in the background.

Whoever is behind this number is a nuisance. They call at every hour of the day, and night. From 5 in the morning until 11 at night. Supposedly, it's a forwarding phone number and it's linked to some "EasyTel" site, it's unbelievably annoying.
I'm on the National "DO NOT CALL" list as well, and they continue to call.

This number appeared on my caller id, I was on another call so I did not pick it up, I figured if it were a phony call they would not leave me a message, after I hung up the other call, I had a voice mail.
It was my friend calling from a pay phone in the 530 area code using a calling card.
