Got a call from 818-555-1000. Caller ID read "unknown name" so I didn't answer. It left no message. Simultaneously as that call was coming in, I was getting a call on my fax line which similarly sent no fax and hung up.

My husband just told me he was on his cell phone speaking to our son. He received a call that seized his phone line. The number was 818-555-1212. He told the caller, who knew what street he lives on, his phone is registered with the "Do not call registry" and to get off the phone because it was costing him air minutes. The man said something like "Don't you want to make a lot of money?". My husband hung up and the guy called 3 more times. The first 3 times, his call seized his line. The 4th time, it didn't. He even went so far as to say "Then this is your cell phone, so I can reach you here anytime?"

I got a call also from this number and they hung up. Then when I called it back it says there is no number exist. Who is doing this?

Have received numerous calls from this number over the last two months. Today the message was "Dave" offering carpet cleaning specials in the area. I listened to the recorded message, and pressed "1" to make an appointment. The name of the company is Best Carpet. When I told the operator I was on the Do Not Call list, and I had reported their number to the Do Not Call government site - they hung up.This company really needs to be fined and stopped for this continual abuse and harassment!

Keep getting these calls over and over on both my business and home phones! They also hang up on me when I press 1 to schedule an appt.

They have been calling for months now from 310, 213 and 818. The latest calls have been from 818. It does not good to wait and press #1 for an appointment. The line goes dead and if you call back you get an invalid number message.

Wasn't home. Came up Out of Area and they called 3 times. Ugh :-(

Got the same call in OC. "Dave" gave the same message for carpet cleaning. I pressed 1 to schedule an appointment but it hung up. Reported to Do Not Call. Obviously a scam but for what?!
JasonB 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
Got the same stupid call in the OC. Registered as Unavailable. Saw all the reports of these people calling, tunred around and filed a complaint with the do not call registry. Maybe if we all do this it might help, yea maybe i will find that pot of gold too

Since any 555 number is information, it obviously was some company who hacks the phone system to cloud their caller id - a violation of at least one federal law for telemarketers. I spoke with an indivdal who identified the company as "Best Carpet Cleaning". Since the caller allegedly was in area code 818 which is in the San Fenando Valley north of downtown Los Angeles and I am in area code 310 south of downtown Los Angeles, at least 30 miles from the San Fernando Valley, I asked her where they were located. She turned it around and asked where I lived. When I told her the name of my residence city, she hung up - apparently they don't service my area

Hello, I have had many calls from many unwanted numbers even though I am registered on the Do Not Call list. Honestly,I simply called them all back and asked them to remove my number. I was kind and they were kind and my number has been removed.

I've been recieving calls from this 818-555-1000 everyday (including weekends) for a month now. No voice mail ever left. Just call and drop. Maybe it's time to get an air horn and keep it handy... get that live person on line and let then know that the sound of an air blast is what they'll hear everytime they call...

These clowns need to be stopped. Next time I'll make an appointment and let them come on over...maybe if we all set appointments and run them all over the country they will stop this garbage.

Been getting this call a lot of times. Finally held on long enough to see who picked up but the recording said to press "1" to set appointment or press "8" to be removed from list. Didn't change a thing, still getting calls. W

Called the O.C. area. No message left.
Arthur 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
ditto the numerous calls over past month re: carpet cleaning.
mjadse 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
"Greg" called with a recorded message with the same pitch. How do they scramble their number!?
Dale M. 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
We didn't answer the phone because the number looked phony with that 555 prefex. A message was left from some carpet cleaning company in the Los Angeles area. Says they'll clean any two rooms for $49.95 each and because I listened to their message would do a hallway for free. About $100 for all that eh? Right. Like I'd go with someone anyway who violated the do not call list. Dale

Yeah, I've been getting them too. I called the number back and a man answered. I said, I'd like to get my phone number removed and he said ok and hung up. They are idiots. We'll see if I get the call again. Probably. I reported them to the do not call list.
LP 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
Get these calls in the early afternoon. I don't pickup. No message is left.
kanaka 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
Rec'd 2 calls in succession on my cell. I did not pick up, then called the #. The recording "phone has been disconnected or no longer in svc" came on. I found that unusual, so I went searching on the net - found out that I'm not the only one that doesn't have time for this kind of nonsense.
When caught, bury them under all of last year's yellow pages.

Please report this scam to the proper authorities. They have a blatant disregard for the law, apparently.

I've been getting automated calls from a carpet cleaning place. Better late than never, I recently got caller ID. I just got a call from this number, but I didn't answer. A quick web search turned up this site.
I am now adding this number to my EZ-VOICE address book as a bulk caller.
Check out http://www.internetsoftsolution.com/
It's a software Answering Machine for a computer.
I can set a different greeting for each person calling me, and there is one that comes with the program that says "beep-boop-bup, We're sorry. The number you're trying to reach is no longer in service...". It sounds authentic. Hopefully it is enough to fool most telemarketing computer systems.

I've been getting calls from this number for months. Everything I could find on this number doesn't look like anyone I know. Started using Call Alert! from www.ivrsoft.com to screen my calls.
